Have you noticed? Surely you've felt it-- that surreal feeling, like something's gone wrong. Someone broke something really important--the multiverse. Yes, every dimension--even yours--is going through technical difficulties. We don't know who did it, how or why, but we're going to find out and make repairs as soon as possible.

In the meantime, please enjoy this lovely party while we try to get things under control.

You were brought here because somebody tripped on a cosmic cord, or pushed the green button when they should've tapped the red. You've been told you're going back to wherever you were (be it an alien dimension where you were ALREADY trapped, or your home universe) but for now, you're here. Enjoy the party, compliments of some higher order of existence who doesn't want you to be too put out at the state of things.

The setting is a beautiful sprawling Georgian estate hosting an outdoor autumn party. There are buffet tables stuffed with delightful confections from every dimension, bonfires throughout the lush grounds, and lovely decorations all lit up by softly glowing paper lanterns and twinkling lights that illuminate every walkway.

Should you choose to explore the mansion, you're quite welcome to do so! Upon entering, one might realize there are far too many rooms within than was apparent outside and ceilings too high to make sense. The layout is stationary though, and it's easy to make your way around the corridors and beautifully decorated rooms. There are bedrooms, sitting rooms, music rooms... If you explore deeply enough, you may find that this place isn't entirely welcoming. Perhaps some old and ancient creatures have taken up residence in the darker, dustier corners here. Otherwise, the place is almost entirely benign and you are invited to enjoy yourself as you see fit.

The brisk autumn air beckons you to enjoy the festivities to the tune of live music, in the comfort of cozy pavilions or perched atop one of the mansion's balconies.

You will be informed of the status of the multiverse as soon as there is any news to report. The higher order of existence itself hopes you enjoy your stay.

(optional) PROMPTS:

1. Bon Appetit. Parties really aren't your thing... or maybe they are, but you can't help but make a beeline for the buffet tables anyway. The food is absolutely autumn-themed but if you crave a particular item, you may be surprised to suddenly notice it where you thought it wasn't there before. There's nothing wrong with hanging around the tables and who knows who you'll meet while you do!

2. Exploration. You decide to explore the grounds or the mansion itself and find the treasures they hold. You may be here a while so you may as well do some exploring.

3. Wallflower. You prefer to sit by yourself and people-watch, sleep, or occupy yourself in comfortable solitude. That's fine too! You're meant to enjoy yourself here.

4. Haunted. Is the mansion haunted? Old mansions like this typically are, right? Who knows what mysterious multidimensional spooks might be lurking the creepier parts of this prestigious estate?! (It could be literally anything. It's up to you!)

5. Cut a Rug. The live music varies widely from genres across all dimensions. Some beats are lively and others, slow and easy. Regardless, the music makes you want to dance. Will you go it alone or find a partner?

6. Random! Remember: These prompts are optional! They're here to help inspire fun scenes, but what you write is up to you!

[Edmund isn't sure whether this is real or merely a dream born of too much brandy and a broken heart, but at this point he's not entirely sure he cares. There's a mostly unfinished glass in his hand, and he's standing alone (a little awkwardly, of course) while he enjoys the music.]

[It makes him look old. Normally people wear wigs - or really, if they have any money, get hair implants - because they want to look younger, don't they?

Kitty was busy loading up a plate with more food than she can strictly balance on the plate when she noticed Hewlett. She's not going to let go of the food, but she has also never seen someone who wore that kind of weird fashion, so it makes her curious, so the kid that's peering up at him is kind of ...bound to the table that she has placed her plate on and addressing him from a bit of a distance.]

[One wouldn't normally associate yellow triangles with reality reconstruction but it also isn't everyday that the notion of everyday splinters into a thousand fragments and has to be reconfigured from the ground up so Bill doesn't think you really have the right to complain, buster--

Nevertheless, they litter various gaps of the mansion like inverse langoliers, rewiring various increments of space and time. Sometimes they wear little hardhats, sometimes they cluster just out of the corner of your eye, patching up the moment that just happened and prepping for the next to occur.

The most accessible Bill, happens to be one with a coffee mug near his receptionist desk, clad in a white tee-shirt with a pink axolotl pin and an "ASK ME FOR HELP" nametag. Truly the most divine of punishments.

He's on break, but in true 'once a salesman, always a salesman' fashion, he launches into a spiel without really giving the newcomer a once over.]

"BILL CIPHER, DIMENSIONAL DEMON, REALITY RESEALER and DREAM DEALER, HERE TO HELP! WHAT CAN I DO YA FORRRR--"

[His voice drops to a flatter pitch.]

"Oh it's you."

[ The party takes place in a large manor, and Ed can't quite help himself. He makes nice with power players and other officials, but all the while he's shrinking back from the public eye in calculated motions, until he can break off and satisfy his own curiosity.

Gotham houses always hold so many secrets and, consequently, many hidden passages.

Ed's beginning to open one when he bumps into Crane, shrilling a most undignified yelp when he occurs. Ed isn't especially superstitious, but damn, he isn't ready to bump into anyone right now! ]

[ Well, he's not much in for the food or the dancing, personally. But where there's something impossible, large-scale, and potentially very dangerous, the Doctor is more than prepared to set his trajectory for a direct collision with it.

He's more wallflower than anything-- usually one or two steps removed from a crowd, quietly observing with his arms crossed. It's not difficult to find him walking about once he gets rolling, whether that means giving things a prod here or there with a sonic screwdriver, setting a direct course for any erupting chaos, popping up with a cheery "hello," or... maybe craning his neck and lifting himself up on the balls of his feet a little.

Just enough to take a better look over the crowd, as he is almost certainly scanning it for familiar faces.

It's so difficult to be offended by this interruption of his daily business when everyone here is just as displaced as he is. What a lovely road to a headache. ]

Parties are definitely not his thing. But the Cloak has pulled him in this direction, so he's here, much to his own reluctance. Why is there a crying need for a party to decide on repairing the multiverses and not actually getting to work.

It's like a committee sitting around a table discussing on how to save a dying patient. But the Cloak obviously won't budge.

[ Kaecilius isn't even sure how he got to this sprawling estate. One minute he was here, and the next he's there. The decor and food get nothing more than a perfunctory look as Kaecilius walks around slowly and purposefully as he takes stock of the situation. A broken multiverse is a serious thing, yet the fact they're all in some place being told to stay put until it's sorted? Not on the cards.

Kaecilius opts to wander around, checking out each room methodically as if one of them will hold more answers than what they're being told.]

[It's been hours, and yet the number of rooms left to wander through never seems to diminish. Stephen is no stranger to the reality of folding space in such limited confines, of making a house larger on the inside than out, but this is just getting ridiculous. The last room he'd stumbled into (tastefully carpeted with gold coins and silks and other artifacts) held an honest-to-god dragon.

Brushing a bit of ash off the edge of the Cloak, Stephen eyes the next room speculatively. The deeper he explores, the odder things seem to get, and at the moment, that's far more interesting than playing some kind of multidimensional waiting game.

Pushing open the door, the sorcerer is struck, suddenly, by the height and vastness of what is unmistakably a library. Finally. He steps inside, scanning the room for any other occupants, and closes the door behind himself. It isn't until he's deeper in the stacks that a flicker of movement just on the edge of his vision draws his attention. Stephen turns, and goes cold.]
