Winter had come early to the great redwood forests of north-central California, and the nighttime snows had blanketed the trees with layers of sparkling white. Blue appreciated the view, enjoyed it very much actually, but possessing a reptilian heating system and having been born and raised in a decidedly tropical climate, opted to simply enjoy it from the comfort of her third-story loft, snuggled down under several layers of quilts and comforters.

The house she currently shared with Owen, Barry, her three sisters and two male hybrids, all of them refuges from Isla Nublar and Isla Sorna, was necessarily large and spacious, but for Blue it had been oddly...quiet for about a week now. For the simple reason that the last resident of their odd little pack had been absent, and since he'd more or less been constantly in her back pocket one way or the other since arriving here, it was a little strange for Blue to be distinctly alone most of the time.

But he'd be back. And probably soon, at that. Omega had been gone for a week, undertaking a little trip down the coast for his own reasons, reasons that Blue understood but Owen still had reservations about. But Omega had gone anyway, and since no emergencies or catastrophic disasters had arisen down his path of travel, they could only surmise he was all right--or more aptly, everyone else was all right and things were fine. Nevertheless, Blue still missed him, although she'd never voice it to her sisters; she didn't mope, damnit.

Although she could sigh just a little when she was alone in bed in the early morning, watching the snow fall through the large window in the front of her loft, drowsy and warm with the weight of the covers and the crackle of fire in the stove nearby. But it still wasn't the same, not to have that comforting presence at her back or the rumble of a sleepy, contented male calm at her ear.
