you know what's awesome? sprawling out among hundreds of pillows, cushioned on top of thick, deep carpet. with the sheets covering over head and draping, down, down to pool around the floor, nothing can ever get in. nothing intangible anyway. all the worries, all the stress and the minor miseries are repelled at the door.

what can get in? snacks, tv, and anything cool - obviously.

[ Where did all of these pillows, blankets, and stuffed animals even come from? Was there a surplus of backup linens somewhere in the watchpoint base (Overwatchpoint?) or did D.Va actually haul all of this crap over all the way from Busan? Look, it doesn't matter. There's electronic music pumping from inside the super rad-looking fort, and the sounds of video games being played.

Junk food must be offered to the grem before entry is granted. ]

[It was pretty hard not to notice the newest addition to the Watchpoint, and Lena was determined to gain entry. It sounded like fun in there, and let's be honest, as much as she loved Winston, there was only so much theoretical science she could listen to before she face planted on his work bench. The fort provided a good escape, and as fate would have it she just happened to know the password, calling out in a sing-songy voice:]

[It's not every day that he gets a pillow. So the fact he gets like five? Plus all these blankets? You bet your ass he's going to make the most of it.

It's a haphazard, jangled mess, like he's stacked at angles and just kind of tossed blankets over it, but it's still a fort. There may be a bear trap in front of the entrance - you know, just in case.]

Matt is still adjusting. He's always been stubborn, at least, so he maybe was up and back at school earlier than he should have been. It was just better than sitting around and listening to everything in the darkness. And there was a lot to listen to. Even school was hard, despite being in a small room for students who need extra assistance. But he's getting along. He has no choice.

Danny helps. Matt doesn't have many friends especially now, but the younger boy is nice and doesn't mind it. He's nice and funny and not at all like Matt is. Which is how Matt's ended up, again, at Danny's place in the evening, dutifully holding blankets and pillows.

"I don't want to make a mess," he says, for maybe the seventh time.

"Well i'm gonna make a mess." Danny doesn't even try to reassure him anymore. The mess doesn't matter, that's what dad pays the housekeeper for, or whoever the nanny of the month happens to be.

They already have a pile of sheets, blankets and pillows-- everything that they could drag out from the other bedrooms and the linen closet. Matt was pretty much designated the pack mule since he was bigger and therefore able to carry more.

"Dad's gonna yell anyway probably." Might as well give him a reason.

"Lets go get the chairs." He takes the last few blankets from Matt's arms to dump on the floor before taking the other boy's hand to lead him back across the house.

[This fort is built like a fort for war. Thick walls of cushions surround a tent of blankets. Fluffy armaments are scattered about the area, simultaneously collateral damage and artillery.

Inside, however, is a snug home fit for a high-end homeless person. It is warmly lit with a single lantern in the center. This small, beaten boy is huddled in the corner, hugging his knees and utterly SHOCKED at the intrustion! (Just don't mind the too-big katana lying at his feet.)

Or, option B, he's nicking supplies from your fort. Careful, he's a slippery one!]

[This was his room and before he left he was almost completely positive that it had been empty when he left. How did he get by the inn keeper? Though he did have to admit that his building skills was very impressive, he had never seen a blanket fort of quite this magnitude.

Where did he get all the blankets and pillows from? Before he could scold him more for breaking and entering, he noticed that this boy looked quite beat up.]

[It wasn't hard to find some pillows and blankets after searching, using the bunks one of the prison cells to prop up blankets weighed down by pillows and placing a larger comforter on the floor along with still more pillows. It was something fun to do, something to take Maggie away from the world outside of the group's prison hideaway. Maybe it was a bit childish but that was the furthest thought from her mind.

Anyone looking for their pillows and blankets would be able to find them, along with her, in a fairly easy search of their cell block.]

[ Things have been settling now that there are more of them in the prison. Now that the Governor's people are their people and there are jobs to do to keep busy. It still doesn't feel like it used to, but then again, it's not likely that things will ever be like they used to.

Kind of hard to go back to that when most of the population is dead and all they can do is survive..

Carl's coming back inside after helping his dad in the garden when he happens to walk past Glenn and Maggie's cell. He has to do a double take, because he briefly doesn't understand what's going on. When he does, he lets out a laugh. ]

(Lots and lots of warm and white lights. Lots of fluffy, feathery pillows, down comforters, blankets, soft microfiber knitted wraps and thin sheets hanging down. Everything's decorated in dim lights but she has her screens that she does work on but also for the movie watching.

[What could be more fun than a pillow fort? The answer is: nothing. Korra sets to work, perfecting it with pillows and blankets and holding it up with whatever she can find. There are pillows and a big thick blanket thrown to the floor inside it and an oil lamp set to one side to light the inside of her makeshift tent as she stretches out to relax, finally finished her work.]

[ Haruka was always one for a halfway decent pillow fort, usually building them with Hotaru on a regular basis. The two tended to go a little more out there with the design than this one, but it was solid and roomy - what more could you ask for? So she tilted her body just enough to peak inside the makeshift tent to see the builder. ]

I think you've got the core of the whole structure all wrong, Mikleo. There doesn't seem to be enough reinforcement in the center... [ Taking this a little bit to seriously? Perhaps.

He may or may not be trying to shove one of the pillows inside of the fort at this point. Gotta make it perfect... or is it wobbling a bit!? ]

[When Flandre finds something interesting to do- She's all for it. Don't mind the pillow stuffing everywhere..She's had a few accidents but sitting in the corner of a scarlet room is a large pillow fort with scarlet colored blankets as it's roof. Inside there is a colorful glow from her wings and giggling. When one heads in, she squeals and hides her drawings, although her colored pencils and crayons are scattered about. In the corner is a bunch of pillows and a blanket. It seems as if she expects to sleep here tonight.]

[It was… so childish. If any of her advisors wandered in on her, she’d certainly look foolish, nothing like the mighty Inquisitor, but instead like a little girl playing pretend.

But honestly that’s how she felt most of the time.

A simple need to escape the pressure even if only for an hour drove her to Herald’s Rest, where she’d casually taken over a room, raided the linen closet, and turned the corner near the window into a small fort of blankets and pillows, with the rickety armchair as one wall. With the noise of the others downstairs, and the sound of the trees outside the windows it almost for a moment felt like home. Like when she and her brother would make little forts in the areval while they traveled, where they would stay for as long as they could get away with, swapping stories or playing games with the little carved figures their father made for them.

For now she’d simply kicked off her boots outside the blanket structure and crawled in, grabbing one of the pillows to curl around, chin propped against it. She always hated Lenmyath’s insistence on telling horrible stories that gave her nightmares but right at that moment she wanted so badly to have him there with her, even if it meant he was going to tell her some ridiculous scary story.

Even if it would take a lot more to give her nightmares nowadays.]

[Using the Herald's Rest to shorten one's travel time was common among all Skyhold residents. Glancing into ajar doorways was common for Vivienne no matter where she was walking. But the boots outside what appeared to be a pile of linens did give her pause before she turned back to open the door further and investigate.

The owner of the boots is obvious, as often as she sees them, and she steps over with no rush before stopping near what appears to be the entrance.]

[Arya had managed to scrounge up enough pillows and blankets to keep her warm for a day or more, piling them all in one spot as she set about compiling her fort. First there were the posts of her bed and then chairs added to hold each side up. Then when the blankets were set perfectly she made sure to add pillows, piling one side high with extra cushioning for lounging.

The opening to her fort was wide enough one could see what she was doing if they decided to stick their head in. Inside were still more pillows and blankets, strewn about for extra comfort. She hadn't done anything this frivolous in a very long time and she planned to make use of the indulgence to be creative.]

[Sansa is ladylike when she flops into the pillow fort but there's no denying that it is a flop and nothing else. She loves that she and Arya are close enough now to be able to do things like this and not fight or, at least, not fight much. It feels natural and comfortable in a way they never felt before leaving Winterfell.]

[ Have you seen the common area at the compound? It's the perfect place for an epic pillow fort. Wanda has raided all couches and bedrooms of their removable pillows and taken as many blankets as possible.

The couches form a kind of U shape in front of the TV stand, the backs faced inward so she can use them as supports for the blankets. She's about halfway through construction right now, she still needs to secure blankets and figure out a way to get the TV incorporated without throwing something directly over it. ]

Whether it's set in a canon world, or in some modern times, it surely is The Most Intricate pillow fort you would ever see. Beautiful and cosy, with far too many pillows and fluffy furs to lay on, with amber lights hanging along the sides giving the surroundings a very otherworldly quality, and delicate fabrics draped to make the ceiling and walls. It's plenty spacious too and within there may be sketchbooks and the like, perhaps a music player if the times permit so, anything to stave off boredom and bring some pleasant entertainment.

It's as much a fort as it is a nest, perfect to simply lounge in comfortably and take a nap, if one is so inclined. Legolas doesn't, being an elf, but he would welcome any and all friends in this quiet zone. No shoes are allowed, but wine and snacks — fruit and cured meats — most certainly are allowed and encouraged even!

A place to relax at, to sink into the floor and ignore the world outside.

[Like many things Luna lays her hands on, this fort is ostentatious, a bit messy, and clearly made with love. There's a little bit of magic in it (blankets and pillows charmed to stay in place, things like that) and plenty of room for friends, should they decide to come play!]

[Who makes the best pillow forts? This guy.

Sure, they're a bit over-the-top, but when you have as much space as he does in his home, it seems like a waste not to make the most of it. Needless to say, the fort is huge with a copious amount of decorations. There's string lights all along the inside, anywhere from white Christmas lights to little pumpkin lights from his box of Halloween decorations. He just used whatever he could find, alright?

There's a TV and plenty of snacks and pillows to fill the fort with. Harry, though-- he'll be sectioned off in one of the brighter corners of the fort with his art supplies. There's always room for friends, though!]
