   The Cooking Meme

 

 

A person cooking is a person giving: Even the simplest food is a gift.— Laurie Colwin

Exactly what it says on the tin: this is the cooking meme and your character is the chef. Are they proficient or just learning? Are they cooking for themselves or a loved one? Or is it a part of their job? Is this a domestic fluff between partners? Whatever it is, tighten up those aprons and sharpen those knives!
 

How this works:
→ Leave a comment with the usual information in the subject line: character name, fandom. Any preferences, including what you don't want, should be included as well.
→ Tag around.
→ Feel free to roll RNG (1-9) if you cannot come up with scenarios of your own. 
→ Have fun, and be excellent to each other!

• 1 — Dinner time! (You're cooking for or with someone. Friend, family, or foe?)
• 2 — BBQ! (Cooking outdoors is a time-honored tradition around the globe. Be careful. Great for group threads!)
• 3 — Lesson! (Your character is learning to cook and someone's there to teach them.)
• 4 — Fail! (What do you mean you shouldn't put eggs in the microwave?)
• 5 — Work! (You're working in a restaurant. Your sous-chef is a dimwit. The jerk outside wants his steak medium-well.)

• 7 — Dorm! (I don't care what anyone says: you can use an iron to make grilled cheese!)
• 8 — Hell's Kitchen! (You're in some kind of cooking competition. OR ELSE YOU'LL BE CHOPPED. Or something.)
• 9 — Fuck da police. (In other words, the random/whatever option.)

[So there's this moment in their lives where Lance realizes that the extent of Keith's cooking ability involves boiling water, putting a package of cheap ramen noodles into it, and occasionally opening some veggies to throw in there, if he really wants to spice things up. Keith doesn't really have a problem with this, since most of his life, he's gotten by on simplicity in his palette choices, or- screwing it all, if money permitted, ordering out.

Tying his hair up, he tries to make sense of the cookbook. His last two attempts, first spurred on by Lance teasing him about all he ever saw him eat was mess hall food or cup of noodle, fail spectacularly. This time, Lance is with him, and he's determined not to make something that tastes of charred leather, over-peppered and nearly inedible.]
