Scenarios

1. Transfiguration. Pay attention and maybe your teacup will turn into a whole rat instead of just a furry piece of nonsense! Ask someone for help.
2. Potions. Watch out for Snape. How's that nastily complicated brew coming along, by the way? Looks like one of you screwed it up!
3. Charms. A relatively easy class ... when your friend isn't bugging you. The trouble is that you're both having too much fun together to concentrate.
4. History of Magic. ... IT'S JUST SO MUCH FUN. Spice up the lesson with your buddy's help!
5. Par-tay in the Common Room. Who the heck knows why it's going on, but you're not missing out on this for anything and neither is your friend! Who cares if they're not from the same House, right?
6. Quidditch. Training or playing an official inter-house match? Showing off or just trying to stay airborne? Good luck and don't fall off your broom!
7. Detention. Shelling out manky old exoskeletons bare-handed? Re-alphabetising an entire section of the library all night long? Maybe you're unfortunate enough to have been grouped together in the Forbidden Forest.
8. The Astronomy Tower. Whether a late night class or a romantic evening together, the stars are beautiful.
9. Hogsmeade. You have a whole day here with your friends! Where will you go and what are you up to?
10. The Great Hall. Breakfast? Lunch? Dinner? A feast sure sounds nice, be it for Halloween or Christmas. Celebrate together!

[You know, he's kind of noticed that and has kind of wondered. He asked- well, as he had taken to calling her, Fran about it. Francis Drake, Slytherin's star Quidditch player, their Rider. She said she didn't know and threw a biscuit at his head for the nickname, which was why he called her, has been calling her, and would keep on calling her that.

He was a Hufflepuff. (He knew, he had no idea how that happened.) Third year. How they all started hanging around each other was a long and complicated story, the short version being that Hakuno Kishinami transferred into Hogwarts and plot started to happen. (Unbeknownst to all of them it was the work of the Dark Lord Twice. This wouldn't be revealed for another four years.) As is, all they knew was that Kishinami had somehow been chosen as the rep for Hogwarts in the Tri-Wizard Tournament and they had to shamelessly cheat their way to victory. For Hogwarts. Go Hogwarts!

Which is how they met. Which is also how he noticed the lack of eating and/or sleeping thing and that was why, as the two of them sat in Hogsmeade whilst the groundwork for shameless cheating fuck yeah go Hogwarts eat it other schools happened, he decided to ask.]

So...what are you, anyway?

[ They've been friends since their third year, maybe a little more than that since the end of their sixth, but sometimes, Steve still feels like he can't keep up with Sam when they're on the quidditch field. It probably makes sense considering the positions they play, though Steve's more adamant about trying to keep Sam on his broom rather than chase after anything, but it sort of brings them back full-circle when they practice, when he knocks a bludger straight into the ground and narrowly misses shattering the tail-end of Sam's broom. By the time they decide to call it, Steve's tired enough not to argue too much, and he eventually nudges him with his elbow after they've finally managed to store away all the equipment, grinning like it had been the best practice of their lives. (Truthfully, they weren't anywhere near the Slytherin team they were playing next week, but Steve could dream.) ]

If we do this every day until the game, we might actually beat 'em. [ Teasing, of course, and he wipes at the dirt on his face with the sleeve of his robe before leaning against his broom as he looks at Sam. ] You doing anything when we get back to the dorm? [ Because he thinks he still has an essay to finish for Potions, but it's not as if Steve couldn't make time for that later if Sam wanted to hang out or do something else. Maybe they could walk around the grounds before it got too dark and they had to be in their room. ]

Much to everyone's consternation, Slughorn had decided to pair them all off with someone from a different house for their Potions project this year. In addition to preparing them for the sort of work they could expect in N.E.W.T. level Potions, the project was intended to promote interhouse comeradery; together with their partners, they'd be working over the course of the term to develop a unique variant of an existing potion, to be handed in before the break for winter hols.

While everyone else in the class had bemoaned their fate, Remus was perhaps among the minority in that he found he didn't so much mind having to pair off with one of the Slytherins. He didn't know Nott particularly well, although they had exchanged the occasional curt nod here and there. Nott was was a studious sort, a fact that Remus had picked up on after discovering Nott to be one of the few students in their year who shared his taste for holing up in the library. They'd never studied together, but he couldn't fault the other boy for his obvious dedication to his schoolwork, and he felt cautiously optimistic that the two of them would make a decent pair for the assignment.

He also rather hoped that Nott was a better potioneer than he was, or they would both be in serious trouble. (How he'd managed to barely scrape an E on his Potions O.W.L. was still beyond him.)

And so it was that Remus found himself in the library, heading toward an area reserved for small study groups where the rule prohibiting talking was a bit more lenient. They hadn't exactly made a plan to meet tonight, but Remus figured that he might as well begin making some preliminary notes, and Nott was as likely to look for him here as anywhere else.

post-hogwarts has a brief stint working in the department of magical law enforcement as an auror as per his parents' wishes before switching to something he enjoys more and working at the department of international magical cooperation, at the magical office of law. ]

Studying, studying, studying. Guess what Magnus Bane isn't doing? He was probably successfully working on a Defense Against the Dark Arts essay at some point, with several of his usual study buddies, but they've since abandoned him. Probably because he stopped talking about Defense Against the Dark Arts and started talking about Defense Against Alexander Lightwood's Criminally Perfect Shoulders.

They don't know what they're missing out on, honestly.

So what if he's not studying. He does just fine in this class, though not as well as he does in Transfiguration and Charms. His wand work: legendary. All the boys and girls can tell you so. Except if you really look into it, not so many. That just happens to get passed around in the tail end of the rumor that Magnus' father is a dark wizard extraordinaire. He never talks about that.

Nor the fact that he basically never goes two days in a row with the same hair color. Totally mum on that too. But those criminally fine shoulders, that is a thing he discusses. Well, only with his study group. Also known as his three best friends. Also known as three giant sticks in the mud.

So here he sits, doodling on his half-finished essay and humming to himself. It's near the end of year and there's some kind of meeting today. Parents. He only has the one and it's not likely dear old dad is going to show up, so who's really going to mind if he stays here a little late? Maybe if someone comes 'round to collect him... ]
