the USERNAME meme

Journal names. They're something we all think about, and that we often try to make as fittingly torturous to our characters as possible. Isn't it nice that our characters never have to know they're wandering around with that horrible label attached to them?

...wouldn't it be fun if they did?

RULES

1 Your character is communicating with others through a journal community, just like how we're using them, and they are perfectly aware of that fact. Whether they think that's normal or not is totally up to you.

2 The also know that when they signed on to this community, they were automatically assigned a name that supposedly has something to do with their personality and/or history. They didn't have any say in what that name was going to be, they're just stuck with it.

3 Make a post with your character's reaction to seeing what their own username is. Do they think it fits? Do they hate it with a passion? Are they downright confused?

4 Comment to other people's posts with your character's reactions to everyone else's usernames. If they know the other character, they might have good reason to laugh at them or feel sorry for them. If they don't, this could lead to some pretty interesting first impressions, don't you think?

5 If you want to use a name that's different from your actual journal name, just mark that in your post. No need to create a whole new journal just to make your character's life worse for one meme. ;)

It could be for any number of reasons.

[He shrugs, idly. No straight answer, nope, not from him.]

But you don't look angry as much as uncomfortable, which is why I think you are flustered.

Maybe I'm just uncomfortable around you because, I don't know, you shot me?

[Joshua heaves a long sigh.]

Not having died and not stuck dealing with you?

Well, yes, but you wouldn't have friends and the life you have now either, would you? See how things work themselves out?

Doesn't change the fact that it's pretty reasonable to be edgy around the guy who shot you.

It's not like I'm going to do it again. What reasoning would I have for that?

How should I know? I'm not going to pretend to know what motivates you.

Use a little logic, Neku. Why would I give you a second chance only to take it away again? I'm not that cruel or petty.

And how should I know that? For all I know, you're just going to string me along and then snatch the rug out once I'm comfortable.

What's the point of all that? It seems very tiresome and not worth all the effort I went through in the first place. If I was going to do that, don't you think I just would have brought you, and you alone, back?

Like I said; how should I know? Maybe Composers get bored. Maybe it's more fun to screw with someone in every way.

As I said, you could look at it from a logical standpoint. Or, you could simply trust me, couldn't you?

[He does trust Joshua, to an extent. 'Trust your partner', and all, and Neku tries to trust all of them even now. If he didn't trust Joshua then he wouldn't speak to him if he could avoid it.

It's just not that easy to totally trust your partner when you know that they shot you for their own twisted game.]

[It was all for a reason, in the end. Even if the reason Joshua started out with wasn't the reason at the end. Changing his mind was a rather big shift, and he feels that should be enough. But oh well, Neku never did things Joshua's way if he could help it.]

[His eyes narrow slightly, curious over the other's scrutiny, before the corners of his lips quirk up in another smile.]

Of course it is.

The exception is because trusting you doesn't change that it's kind of hard to immediately get over being shot.

Does it look like I'm going to do anything of the sort now? All I'm saying is you should trust me when I say I won't.

And I'll keep that in mind. You can't just... expect someone to trust something like that though, not for a long time.
