the USERNAME meme

Journal names. They're something we all think about, and that we often try to make as fittingly torturous to our characters as possible. Isn't it nice that our characters never have to know they're wandering around with that horrible label attached to them?

...wouldn't it be fun if they did?

RULES

1 Your character is communicating with others through a journal community, just like how we're using them, and they are perfectly aware of that fact. Whether they think that's normal or not is totally up to you.

2 The also know that when they signed on to this community, they were automatically assigned a name that supposedly has something to do with their personality and/or history. They didn't have any say in what that name was going to be, they're just stuck with it.

3 Make a post with your character's reaction to seeing what their own username is. Do they think it fits? Do they hate it with a passion? Are they downright confused?

4 Comment to other people's posts with your character's reactions to everyone else's usernames. If they know the other character, they might have good reason to laugh at them or feel sorry for them. If they don't, this could lead to some pretty interesting first impressions, don't you think?

5 If you want to use a name that's different from your actual journal name, just mark that in your post. No need to create a whole new journal just to make your character's life worse for one meme. ;)

I am an artificial human, a homunculus, created in the likeness of humans. Nothing robotic went into my creation.

A homunculus? But how does that work if there's no robotics? Sorry, I... don't know much about this stuff.

If you know what a Magic Circuit is, then...it's easiest to think of me as a large one, or perhaps several large ones, in human form.

Wait, so you're saying you're partially made out of magic? That's... awesome, actually! They don't have magic where I'm from, I don't think.

Well... I don't really understand how any of that works, but... it does. And well, I guess it's not really important, right? You're still you.

[ She folds her hands together and bows politely. ]

Megaman Volnutt, Rock. It's a pleasure to meet you. I am Rani VIII, though I would like to ask you call me Rani. It's much simpler.

[He smiles brightly back at her.]

It's nice to meet you too, Rani!

[ She nods again, but hesitates before speaking again. ]

[He's quiet for a long moment.]

In my previous life, I was the head Purifier Unit for a place called Elysium. I served the last surviving true human, known as The Master. I'm not a Carbon, but I'm not human either.

As for the people in my world, their origins are as artificial, but they grow old, die, and give birth like true humans... to the point where I can't tell the difference between them. The difference isn't important though: they're all people and deserve to live life as they choose.

...I try not to think about my old life too much. I have a new one as a person, not a Purifier.

I like it a lot more.

I am unfamiliar with much of what you're talking about. However, if I have upset you by my poor choice of words, I apologize.

You didn't. It's a lot for me to think about, but at the same time, it's easy for me to draw the line between them.

What I have now is far more important to me, and who I am now is who I am, not who I was!

That is a wonderful way to view things.
