[ Kirk had never heard it called such a thing, but if Lucifer said that was part of its history, he would believe him. He had no reason not to, after all, even though he suspected quite a few things the other told him were complete and utter bullshit. But that was what the devil did, right? Lie? Though he suspected less than half of it was for actual malicious intent, and the rest more just for his own amusement to see how people reacted.
He himself was not much into the holiday, never had been, but he did know one thing. Certain parts of the beach would be deserted in favor of halloween parties and living it up in bars and clubs on the city, no one wanting to get sand into their costumes no matter how inexpensive.
When Lucifer arrived, Kirk opened the door, already in his leather riding jacket, his helmet tucked beneath his arm, and a small backpack already strapped on. He beamed at the devil and stepped forward and up, pecking his lips in greeting before shutting the apartment door behind him. ]
Did you get all the stuff? Awesome. Let's go.
[ He motioned for him to follow as he made for the elevators that would take them down to the parking garage. ]
[Perhaps part of him hadn't expected Kirk to actually be home and that this was just some sort of elaborate prank set up in honor of the holiday. After all, who would willingly spend their time away from the action and debauchery of the city when there were so many illicit things going on?
Well, Kirk, apparently, because he's somewhat surprised when the man actually opens the door and even more surprised at the gentle peck. It leaves him a bit off his normal game, and he furrows his brows and takes a good look at the man as if trying to figure out what his motive for all this was.]
Yes I have your sweets, don't know why you need these ones. Not really good for licking off someone.
[While there may be a tinge of annoyance in his voice, it's merely a cover for the fact that the twisting knot in his chest has grown tighter. The greeting kiss certainly hadn't helped, and he mentally chastised himself for being so shook up over such a small thing.
But regardless, he follows Kirk to the elevator, tucking the shopping bag under his arm.]
[ He stood in the doorway of the elevator, holding it open as he waited for the devil to follow before ducking inside. He clicked the level he'd left his bike and sidled closer to the other. He reached out, tugging at the plastic shopping back and peering inside. He could not help but laugh at what he saw, rolling his eyes in fond exasperation. ]
You always bring me the nicest things, don't you?
[ He took out a bar of rather expensive chocolate from the bag, raising a brow at the other man around his smile. ]
Or was it simply all that was left at the store for candy on Halloween night?
See, I've never really been one for faith. Sort of dear old dad's thing, wouldn't you know.
[There's the barest hint of crossness to his tone, but it's far more bark than bite. In reality he's far more intrigued as to why in the world Kirk had called him out in the first place, let alone why he himself had decided to answer.
As the bag is tugged the corners of his mouth quirk, and he actually rolls his eyes at the mere suggestion.]
Please. If I'm going to be required to bring you sweets, I'm not lowering myself to grocery store sugary death.
If you're not careful, I'll start thinking you're intentionally trying to spoil me.
[ He smirked at him, the elevator doors opening and Kirk leading the other over to his motorcyle. He opened a hatch and pulled out an extra helmet, offering it to Lucifer and putting the treats into the hatch in its place. ]
Just hold onto him - someplace decent, please, or else I'll end up crashing because I can't sit straight.
[ He knows how you like to do things, Lucifer and he glowers at him playfully before sliding his own helmet on and mounting the bike. It roared to life and he patted the seat behind him. ]
Look, just because you're willing to put trash in your body doesn't mean that I am.
[It's all cursory complaining though, and there's very little bite beyond the bark. It increases, however, at the sight of the helmet, and Lucifer stares at the thing as though it's grievously offended him. Still, he takes it though not without a quite scoff.]
See, while I'm a fan of handjobs I'm also a fan of not being a pulp on some nasty backroad. Hands are staying where they are.
[Like a petulant child he glares at the helmet again, but then slides it on and slides onto the bike behind Kirk.]
I've seen what you drink when no one's looking, Mr. Pot. I also know you don't bruise quite that easy.
[ He rolled his eyes at him before flipping his helmet mask down and mounting up. When he was sure that Lucifer was secure, he gunned the engine and flew out of the parking garage.
The overall ride was not very far - fifteen, twenty minutes at most, but it took them outside of the immediate glare of city lights and the hullaballoo of halloween and the flash of glitter and skin. He parked them on a quiet lot in front of an even quieter beach head, dismounting and grabbing the pack, along with another already inside of the bike.
He glanced down at Lucifer's shoes and chuckled. ]
Might want to leave those hear, unless you want sand in all the wrong places, Luci.
[ That said he made for the stairs leading down to the beach front, a happy jaunt to his steps. ]
Excuse you, I have excellent taste. And just because I don't bruise easily doesn't mean I enjoy being a fine paste on the road.
[It's all cursory grumbling as they head out though, and he keeps good to his word as Kirk drives: no wandering hands anywhere to distract the man. Thankfully the ride doesn't take too long, and as the bike comes to a stop he throws his leg over the side to dismount quickly.]
I'm not removing my shoes.
[Sand be damned. But it's good to see Kirk so happy, even if he's reticent to admit it and he allows a small grin to grace his lips as he watches the man, following after.]
Don't blame me when you spend a fortune getting them cleaned out.
[ His boots hit the sand and he makes his way closer to the shore, moving slow in the dark so that Lucifer could keep up and not lose him, even though dark wasn't quite the right word for the lighting. Ambient light from the city and the bright moon made it easy enough to see if you were careful. He picked his way along a path only he seemed to know, working between bits of rocks and shoals and eventually coming out on another stretch of sand, a little cove surrounded by the rock that made it seem like its own little world.
Already at the center was a stack of firewood, gently charred from previous use. Kirk made his way over, setting down his pack and pulling out a large, folded blanket, spreading it over the sand and quickly lighting the campfire with the help of some travel sized lighter fluid. What? Just because one knew how to start a campfire without the stuff did not mean one had to.
Standing on the blanket he slid out of his shoes and shrugged off his jacket, looking over to Lucifer and patting the space beside him. ]
Come on, I didn't bring you all the way out here to sit by myself.
[A fortune or none, he'd rather have kept his comfort instead of dealing with the mess.
But he followed his way down the sandy coast, hands tucked in his pockets as he followed Kirk with a critical eye. Really, they had driven all this way out for such...seclusion? It didn't make sense, at least not to a creature such as himself who made a point of surrounding himself with luxury and finery.
He watched on as Kirk fiddled around with a few errant hunks of wood, as fire flickered to life. The edge of his mouth curled up, and he watched on.]]
That does beg the question though, why did you bring me here?
[But he did relent, pacing over to the blanket and seating himself down next to the man.]
[ Yes they had, but there was another benefit. All the way out here, enough of the city light was screened out to show the stars above, or at least more of them. It was nothing like being actually up amongst them, but it was enough down here on Earth. Patiently Kirk fixed up the fire and the blankets, waiting for Lucifer to get over his need for the luxurious and accepting his company for what it was. Honestly, sometimes Lucifer was a handful when it came to do something that didn't immediately lead to the bedroom.
Still, once the other had settled himself, Kirk shifted and threw his legs over Lucifer's thighs, working himself against him so that he nestled into his lap. His arms looped around his shoulders, fingers playing at the nape of his neck. ]
Maybe I got tired of the view from your pent house.
