He shook his head. "Can't sleep all that well just yet sadly." He looked at his hand, the tattoos glowing on his skin. Bright green was usually a good sign his health was up. Though boy did it make it a pain to sleep. Better than red at least.

Sighing, he had been ready to take out a book to read, thankfully not one of his tomes when Lucina spoke. Frowning, he raised a brow. "Perhaps what? Something wrong?"

She had gotten his attention, and it was hard to ignore his partner.

"A-Ah! I'm sorry... it's nothing. I guess I'm just worrying over things I can't change." Like the thousands that were likely dying to buy them the time they needed to find the gemstones for the fire emblem. She leaned against the same tree Naoki was leaning against with a heavy sigh.

She was trying to ignore her own fears and sorrows, because she couldn't afford to bring down anyone else in times of trouble like this.

Seeing her look so troubled, he put his hand on top of hers gently. He did his best to smile. He was troubled as well, fearing not just losing himself, but the friend he valued more than anything. If he could, he'd sacrifice himself just to see her happy.

"I don't plan to leave you anytime soon. Grima will have to drag me to hell himself before I die."

In spite of herself, Lucina did actually crack a smile and chuckle at Naoki's statement. "Am I really that transparent?"

Perhaps he was just trying to reassure her, or perhaps he was perceptive enough to realize it was he she was worrying herself about. Regardless of whichever one it might be, Lucina was practical to a fault, and she couldn't stand the idea of time being wasted, even if it was for rest and relaxation. If Naoki wasn't going to sleep... "If you can't bring yourself to sleep just yet, I suppose that I shall have to try in your stead. Will you watch over me?"

She wasn't particularly sleepy, but there was no telling when the next time they'd be able to stop. She had to at least try.

He nods, gently squeezing her hand. "Sure. Odds are you need it more than me anyway."

He may have had power and a death wish, but Lucina seemed to carry more of a burden for being a wielder of that sword. She was this world's last hope. And she was all he had left. No one else mattered.

"Thank you Naoki. Just give me a good shake if you need me, I can be a heavy sleeper." Which wasn't exactly true, but a small part of her was curious if he'd try anything if he thought she was.

She was wearing the mask she'd been given as a gift by Gerome, as a means to hopefully hid her identity. She doubted it would fool Grima, but it might fool his legions of followers no doubt scouring the land for her. The eye slits were also narrow enough to serve as an effective sleep mask, and made it difficult to tell if Lucina was asleep or not.

Soon enough her breathing became more slow and steady, her chest rising and falling peacefully as she lay beneath the tree and Naoki's watchful eyes.

Thinking she was asleep thanks to the mask, and waiting a few more minutes, he leaned over, kissing the top of her mask. Hopefully she would better more rest than he. He imagined that mask would make it easier too.

He went back to watching, carefully trying to listen for any sound of Risen.
