It had been literal centuries since Zepar had felt anything more than simple physical attraction to someone, especially a human, and the last time there had been feelings involved was when things had gone wrong.

Which was why he was puzzled by the twinge of genuine interest, something like a sympathy pang in his chest and he wasn't even sure why, it wasn't like he'd actually met the other man before, though he'd seen him around, one of the semi-regulars the same as Zepar himself.

So it was with some kind of recklessness and more than the usual amount of restlessness that he dropped into the next empty seat, leaning towards the other man just a little, enough to be heard when he asked: "Can I buy you a drink?"

[His first flight had been alright, but the connecting one had been delayed for hours. And the traffic on the way from the airport to the hotel... he was tired enough to almost wish he'd accepted his boss's offer to get him a car with a driver while he was in town.]

[Oh, well. He was at the hotel now, and had at least a few hours before he'd have to wake up again. Showering could wait until the morning, he decided as he dropped his bag inside the door and flicked the latch shut. Everything could wait until morning. Hell, he was even too tired to bother with having a smoke before bed.]

[His sister has a gentleman caller over. He'd seen a pair of unfamiliar shoes, felt the scent of pipe tobacco, heard a deep voice as he moved on noiseless feet through the house. The stray cats he feeds in the garden had noticed it too, had been more wary and harder to coax into coming closer, like they usually did when there were strangers in the house.

He can't blame her. She had done what she needed to do when she had only just become a woman, she'd had no choice, for the sake of her family and doing right by the memory of their parents. Who is he to deny her a little bit of happiness when her husband is away?

He keeps out of the way all evening. He doesn't really have friends to go to, but he'd gone to catch some fireflies at the creek nearby, returning as late as possible and immediately retiring to his room to sleep. In the morning, he takes to the garden to practice. Mitsu still doesn't like that he does it, doesn't like seeing even a practice sword in his hands, but if he can pretend that she isn't entertaining then she can pretend that he isn't practicing.

He senses the strange presence before he sees anyone, but ignores it at first, right until the movements of the kata takes him around in a circle so that he ends up facing the stranger. Letting out a steady breath, he relaxes his position, looks up and... freezes. His breath catches in his lungs. He lowers the implement in his hands as if he's forgotten it's there at all.]

Which is to say the small room with the mirrored walls, the muted light, the faux leather sofa and the table with a pole running through it all the way to the roof. All of that. And also the lithe figure of Fai entering the room, dressed in only the most perfunctory of hotpants and some rather high heels.

Fai has been in this situation before. The friend had made a couple too many jokes and grinned a bit too much, and he can't even see the face of the man in the sofa with his hair in the way like that. He sighs quietly, walking closer and taking a seat on the edge of the table, giving Feliks a concerned look.]
