Well, now that you're dead...
The Train to the Afterlife Meme

Congratulations: You are dead.
Maybe you know how, maybe you don't. Perhaps the memory is fuzzy, or perhaps it's crystal clear down to the look in your comrades' eyes. Maybe it was your time; you've done all you wanted to. Or maybe you weren't at all ready to go, maybe you went out kicking and screaming - but none of it matters. You know you're dead, and the train is taking you to an afterlife. Perhaps an afterlife of your choice; you might've earned that heaven. Or perhaps you've earned something else entirely.
It'll be a bit of a journey, though, so you might as well take your time and talk to the other people in your coach. Death knows no place: most of them are strangers, even from faraway worlds. But death knows no time either, so who knows, some of them may be people you know, even if last you knew, they were alive - or long gone.
Oh look, here comes the snack cart.
All the usual:
- Post with your character's name and canon in the subject line.
- Said character is now dead for whatever reason - canon, AU, what have you. They are on a train with other dead people from many other times, places and worlds.
- Characters don't know for a fact where they're headed - just a general awareness that they're going to some kind of afterlife. Whatever they think it is is up to the player.
- This meme is built especially for cross-canon interaction, and potentially for threadjacking and group threading - if you're interested, may be a good idea to state as much in your subject line.
- Tag around and play nice!
- TRIGGER WARNING: Meme obviously deals with death and may deal with other unpleasant themes as a result. Please be cautious.

[ the wry humor never fully goes away. he straightens up out of habit, leaning forward and resting his hands on his knees. after months of being under the microscope, faking normalcy while knowing at any moment their cover could break, it was nice to relax, let his hair down, so to speak.
normally he was one to keep his cards close to his chest, not saying more than what needed to be said. but there was no need to keep secrets among friends, especially those who'd sacrificed all for some impossible goal. it was what a soldier would have done, a hero, if he were to be dramatic.
he doesn't know how to start the conversation, how to address if they'd won or lost, or the casualties. he doesn't know for certain either, so he settles for what he knows. ]
I can't tell you how it ends, but I might know a few things you may have missed.

I'm a little jealous, [she says with a pout, her tone of voice making it obvious that she's joking. Mostly.] You went out with a bang, I went out with a whimper. Your death sounds a lot more fun than mine.
[Too soon? Maybe, but there's no point in sugar coating things when they are both dead. She is a little jealous, all things considered; Root doesn't regret sacrificing herself for Harold, of course not, but she really wishes she could have taken a few operatives down with her. She doesn't even know if she managed to shoot the bastard that killed her.
There's a curious glint in her eyes when John speaks again. She wishes he could tell her how it all ends, clings to the desperate hope that Harry, Sameen and Fusco have made it out alive and that The Machine is looking out for all of them. Maybe this afterlife they're headed to will tell her all she wants-- no, needs-- to know, but for now, Root is going to live vicariously though John's descriptions. The hacker leans forward, her voice lowering as if John is about to spill a big secret.]
Tell me everything.
