It's Halloween time! You all know what that means: Trick-or-treating! This is a really simple meme, guys. Not much to say, but here's to goblins and ghosts and magical beasts (and the fun of Halloween)!
• Each top-level comment is a house that's set up for trick-or-treaters. Detail your decorations, whether they be spooky or cute! Or are your lights off, trying to hide? Trying to lure kids in to turn them into pies? • Reply to other's top-levels! [ For non-Hogwarts: While his place is done up fantastically for the holiday, none of it is actually frightening. At least not really. He's got your Jack-o-Lanterns, your not-so-spooky-or-scary skeletons, your leaping mushrooms all over the garden hopping about in tiny witch hats, your large plants blooming giant flowers acting as a type of umbrella-esque roof up the walk... wait, what?
In short, it's a very cute, lively Halloween at Monsieur Longbottom's home. He knows what it's like to be a frightened kid, after all. There's also a very large, very old toad having taken up residence atop one of the pumpkins that will croak at anyone coming up. He too, is wearing a small hat.
For Professor Longbottom: It's become a bit of a tradition in recent years to allow students to trick-or-treat. It helps young Muggle-born students feel at home because it's something familiar that both sets of children do. Rather than do up his office though, he's decorated one of the greenhouses to compensate. Trailing vines, blood-red flowers... Every member of staff has their own theme. His is, of course, plants. That same toad is here, fussing a little, and both he and Neville are ready with hats and candy. ]
[Unlike nearly all the other students, the youngest Malfoy is trick-or-treating alone. He's quieter and more subdued than the other kids, but he seems to be having some fun at least. His prince costume looks very expensive and tailored.
He trails in when there's a bit of a gap between groups, taking in all the decorative plants with a quiet wonder. When he gets to Professor Longbottom, he takes a small, entirely appropriate handful.] Thank you, Professor. It looks very nice in here.
[ Neville likes Scorpius. He likes him because he's kind, and polite, and because he sees a bit of himself in being timid and feeling alone. The sternest Neville ever gets is to stop any bullying that happens in his classes or the corridors, which means he spends some time taking care of the young Malfoy boy. As much as he'd disliked Draco during their school years... Things were different now. He wouldn't be unkind to Draco's son, anyway. He had no part in any of it.
So he smiles brightly, nodding. Trevor croaks helpfully. ] And thank you. I'm glad you appreciate it, a lot of your classmates just breeze by because they don't really care about plants.
[In turn, Professor Longbottom is Scorpius' favorite teacher so far. He knows he doesn't have to worry about anyone saying or doing anything to him in his classes, and he's a good teacher. And he's nice. Herbology isn't necessarily his favorite subject, but it's still interesting, and Scorpius is a quick study.]
I'm sure they think so too, they probably just want to get as much candy as they can. [Scorpius has an abundance of sweets sent to him all the time, however, so he doesn't feel quite so much like he needs to grab as much as he can as quickly as possible.
He nods at the question.] I like seeing all the decorations.
Luna is there, of course, helping him make sure the place is all set up and that everything's running smoothly. She's also trailing a small collection of tiny witch hats as she goes, placing the carefully on the bouncing mushrooms. At the moment, she's following after one particularly stubborn mushroom that doesn't seem to want a hat in the least, if the way it keeps leaping away is any indication.
"Love? This purple one's being quite stubborn. I don't believe it feels like wearing a hat today."
When Luna speaks, Neville leans from where he's putting a bow-tie on Trevor (really, Mssr. Longbottom) and squints, trying to see which mushroom she's talking about. Then he hums, nodding. "Let it be then, best not to force it or it'll be cross all night."
He straightens and wanders over, looking around at her handiwork with a smile, snatching up one of the hats to balance the tiny thing atop Luna's head as well. "'Course, that one's a bit of a brat. Eventually it'll get jealous that all the rest have hats and come 'round to get one. Always like that."
Neville always talks about the things he grows as though they're people: he treats them with respect and a sense of reverence. That's why he's so good at it.
Well, if he's close enough to balance the little hat upon her head, he's likely close enough for her to press a kiss against his cheek. She'll be shifting towards him with the intent to do exactly that, if he'll stick close for long enough.
"I'll make sure to save one for it, then. Is it naturally that purple, or is that a preference?"
Really, they're both like that. Luna does it more to the creatures that occasionally spend their time in their home and Neville more to the plants, but both of them treat everything around them with the same respect for life and living things. It what makes them both very good at their jobs, and also very good as a couple.
[ It's Halloween at Capsule Corp! (future) Trunks here ended up visiting the past/main timeline around the spooky-cutesy holiday and is somehow the one handing out candy at the big CC since little him has gone out with Bulma and co. for trick or treating. Who would have thought?
Capsule Corp is done up all brightly with spooky-scary-cutesy flickering jack-o-lanterns all lined along the ledges of the big circular building, fake tombstones littering the grass with a couple hands popping out of the ground here and there, blinking orange + purple lights with some that say HAPPY HALLOWEEN here and there and of course, who can forget that 90's soundtrack of Halloween music/sounds everyone probably grew up with coming from the inside of Capsule Corp? There's also a fog machine going somewhere off to the side in the bushes just to add a little more touch of spooky to the front yard of Capsule Corp.
So come on up and ring that doorbell! There's quite a few big bowls of candy (and a slightly confused time traveler) waiting for you if you do. ]
*(One of the bases, let's say for the sake of it, Dorado, is decorated for Halloween and Day of the Dead celebrations! The HQ is decorated with all kinds of things and there's party times, treats and tricks and possibly a small truce between any characters with bad blood. ((Looking at you Reaper-Widow-and anyone against Omnics)).
Mercy is dressed in her Witch-costume and handing out candy to friends, people out and about for the festivities and OW friends.*

Jack dropped his hand from his forehead and chuffed, or would have if the facepaint hadn't caked his lips to where even the whiskey in his hand started to taste like it. The urge to wipe the stuff off was overpowering, and only grew as the giggles and whispers from the team and their guests here at Torbjorn's Halloween party picked up around him. (Hana kept popping up in his face to make this "HEE-HEE!" noise that, for the life of him, Jack couldn't place but felt he should know.) He busied himself with McCree at the open (if "haunted") bar that Torbjorn had taken the time to set up, now on his third bourbon of the night and trying not to douse himself just to get this ridiculous getup off him. Thank God she's not here to see this yet...
"Who exactly am I even supposed to be again?" he asked McCree, squinting at his reflection in the rocks glass, that ghoulish makeup and kind of unreal red jacket. "This was that...I don't know, who was that guy? 1990s kid? Walked backwards that one time? Name's on the tip of my tongue."
"Outfit's from Thriller, which was a classic thank y'very much, and I'll have you remember this was not a cheap costume to rig you with, and you're a proper fright except your goddamn forehead's got fingertracks in it now." McCree tsked at him from under his Van Helsing hat, taking another slow drag of his cigar. "Look, you keep your fingers off your face for a little longer, huh? Just until...well. Y'know."
Jack paused before he took a sip, narrowing his eyes. "Until what?"
"Well, speak of the..." McCree stopped himself, his eyes flashing at something over Jack's shoulder, a grin peeling his lips back - and then he tipped his hat in a manner he only did for one person. "Mm. Better let you have this one, Jack. Think I'll go check in on that apple-bobbin' contest..."
He backed away from the bar, leaving Jack to lean against it, knowing full well from McCree's grin and the sounds of the gasps and whistles at his back what - or rather, who he'd noticed coming up behind Jack. A breath rushed heavily through the grate of his teeth, and Jack threw the bourbon down his (zombified) hatch. The bite was rough. Harsh. Merciless. He shook his head and waved the bartender for another, because...well, because he was about to turn around and he looked like a music video from over a hundred years ago and she was going to look like -
Ah. Fuck with it. Not like he hadn't missed the hell out of her alreadyy.
"Mmph." Jack turned from the bar and let himself see her. "Hey, uh...Happy Halloween?"

Everyone had their costumes picked out and rather than re-use her imp or the devil one s he had, she went with another idea that she had in her closet. It was simple and the title of 'Witch Doctor' was rather intriguing.
She had laughed lightly and waved off the whistles or compliments from some of the other people there for the party. The only ones she cared for were her friends from Overwatch.
Watching McCree walk away from Soldier, who was dressed like a...wait what was he? Her head shook and snapped back to the moment. She wandered forward until she was closer to her target, Jack, and he turned to look at her.
A small hint of a smile appeared and she adjusted her witches hat. Her tattered shawl draped across her shoulders but it certainly showed more skin than any of her other attires she's worn on the battlefield or even in the office. "A most festive of Halloweens to you, Jack." She smiled and leaned against the bar countertop with her 'broom' at rest beside her.
"You certainly look fit for Halloween." And nevermind that she liked the look of a jacket holding tight to him, it showed his physique that was always in excellent condition.
[Whoever owns this house went all out. The yard is a maze to the front door, filled with strange obstacles that writhe when you come near them. Lights in a myriad of color wax and wane, casting impossible shadows across the entire neighborhood. Sound is pumped in from somewhere, discordant and unlike any living creature witnessed by man, but one cannot help but feel like it's the screaming of some thing. Dare you brave the maze to find what wonders lay at the end?
Or you can be a total lamoid and just take the direct path. But all you'll get is candy and one disappointed homeowner.]

[The Midford mansion is almost elegant with its exterior decorations: everything is gold and warm red or orange for the season. There are small pumpkin shaped lanterns showing the path. Inside, (and, well, let's be honest, perhaps on even some of the windows on the outside) there are spooky decorations that are more on the cute-side. Bats, cats, skeletons—think a la Sanrio or San-x. They all look a bit too friendly and pleasant for one of the creepier holidays. Even purple spiders seem to be smiling, but not menacing, like they just baked cookies for guests.
A housekeeper will answer the door for trick-or-treaters politely, before she's interrupted by the little Lady, in fancy yellow and black dress, with black cat-ear headband and tail. Trick-or-treater will receive an enthusiastic greeting from Elizabeth, more sweets than is strictly necessary, and an invitation to come inside for a party. (Though, of course, she won't push strangers.)]
You could stay for a little, couldn't you? [Any excuses to throw a party, really.]

Charlie | Five Nights at Freddy's: The Silver Eyes
[The lights at Charlie's house are off for the night, though for what it's worth? She has left a bowl of wrapped bite-size candies on the stoop, along with a polite request to not take more than one or two pieces. Aside from that, though, it's undecorated and silent.
Charlie herself is hanging out back, watching the night go by until she finally feels sleepy. It's her first Halloween after - well, after, you know? Understandably, she doesn't want to deal with anyone right now. She wants to be alone and mourn.
But feel free to grab the candy, kids. And don't try to TP or egg the back of her house, fellow teens...or be ready to deal with a pile of grump if you do...]

[So trick or treating. It's basically any kid's dream haunted house, with a lot of good scares that will make you scream but then laugh. There's also real ghosts, skeletons and zombies hanging around. Oh, and a couple of demons. Don't worry about them, he'll have a word]
[He probably has the ultimate haunted house, full of scares and practical effects. He spared no expense. If you want candy, beware, because some of the pieces may be laced with his fear toxin.]
[The castle-like embassy always has the best candy. The best decorations, too -- the Precure and friends went all out this year, covering the area in giant fake spiderwebs, a big inflatable witch hat on the roof, and someone's bright idea to put thirty packs of red Kool-Aid into the pool-sized fountain at the side.]
She's all dolled up in her own version of Cure Peach's Precure uniform, and she's ringing the doorbell to the embassy a little too excitedly. Oh boy oh boy, she absolutely can't wait to see what Hime's wearing this year! ]
[Hime shyly opens the door a crack, lights up when she sees Megumi, and flings it open the rest of the way. She's got a detailed, sparkle-covered blue fairy costume she most definitely didn't make herself and a huge bowl of candy.]
Megumiii! This is going to be so much fun, we have candy to give out and for ourselves we have cookies and onigiri and an orange cake and if someone tries to toilet paper our house we can throw buckets of water on them out the window so it's not scary at all!
[It's still scary, as far as Hime's concerned. But she tries.]
