It's a splendid night for a party!

You received an invitation to a masquerade party and after wondering who exactly throws these things anymore outside of people in Italy and the strange people in that Vanilla Sky movie, you've decided to attend! Decked out in your best (or maybe not so best - it may have been last minute, after all), you descend on the party and prepare to make it a night to remember.

Is it your friend's annual Halloween party with a twist? Perhaps you're an international spy, trying to find out the best way to steal the Crown Jewels. Maybe this is part of Spirit Week at your high school and you really wish that your classmates would be more creative next time.

Elaborate Venetian, playful animals, dazzling supernatural creatures - the night is young. Have fun.

This is not a RNG meme. Your characters' role and situation is entirely up to you. "But how do you play?" you might ask. It's as simple as 1, 2, 3!

1.) Post with your character. In the subject line, type of your character's name and canon. If you'd like, in the comment section, you can describe what mask/costume your character is wearing.
2.) Tag around! This is a party after all, and your character can't find any of their usual crew behind their masks (or maybe they can and need to tease them mercilessly for their choice of costume).
3.) Profit!

[As luck would have it, the person in her way almost recognizes that touch, in a distant and troubling sort of way. Still, he can't quite place it, and so he turns with a smile and a nod, the upper portion of his face hidden behind a fairly simple navy blue mask.]

[The late Irene Adler moves through the masquerade like a queen. Her dress is subdued, a bare-shouldered fitted gown so dark blue as to be almost black and scattered artfully with the glint of gems, and a matching mask that obscured her face despite its lacy appearance.

Her lips curve into a familiar, razor sharp smile as she spots the reason why she'd risked the masquerade, and she begins making her way across the ballroom.]

[It was a small thing to infiltrate the masquerade - a whispered, smiling threat here and a shrug of carelessness there. The upper tier of England's elite roamed these halls of gold and shdow, thinking their guises rendered them invisible to their peers, a swirling cacophany of masks made of ebony and lies. Didn't they know how irritatingly perfect it made them into targets?

His attire allows him to blend into the background, his black mask simple and unadorned - although he doesn't skimp on the suit. One must allow themselves some sort of luxury to dabble in. He listens in on conversations, dropping in quiet and apparently unassuming hints of...less than legal ways to achieve one's means. All of their problems are quite boring - adultery, embezzling, forgery, and far too many hiding their true sexualities.

It is amusing, but hardly fun to build up the cards. It is only fun to watch them come tumbling down.

He notices her early, a swirl of stars and silk, and, when she is only a few feet away, he passes by her with small smile.]

Back from the dead, I see.

[Though the dark suit he's in has been tailored to fit him well, it suits Ashley ill. He looks great, sure, but something about the way he moves--ever a soldier, oddly stiff in these unfamiliar clothes--makes him stick out like a sore thumb amongst the partygoers.

[There's an assassin moving seamlessly with the crowd of masked party-goers. He does not look the part of a killer, for once his elaborate robes fit in with the rest of the well dressed masses. His mask is a bit hard to see with his hood up but the confident little half-smirk he wears or the obvious swagger to his stride is unmistakable.

He stops every so often to take in the crowd, expression cool and eyes quickly flicking to each face. Searching for a very specific someone...]

[She could give less of a damn if she wasn't supposed to be enjoying herself here. This was an occasion to dress beautifully, and find a mask that worked with glasses. Her job is a job, but she has time to kill, no pun intended, and so she dances freely with whomever will accommodate her.

Easy enough to say her costume is the Red Death.]
