Fae's sarcastic teasing only seemed to make Keelan feel warmer and lighter. It hadn't escaped him that laughter and smiling were quickly becoming less and less of a foreign concept. After years of forgetting that fun could be had, it was refreshing. Nor had it escaped him that being around Fae was as easy as breathing and as comfortable as if they'd known each other for years. When they eventually went their separate ways, he would easily miss this.
"You should know that I learn fast. It won't be long before you're the one pinned to the floor." He winked, teasing. Not something he should admit.
If only personal choices had been learned as easily as physicality, though. Perhaps neither of them would be hiding away from Zeke. He may have even stopped gambling when it started to ruin his life, or he may have let his old boss suffer the consequences of his own poor business decisions. The only thing he could hope for now, was that he'd managed to pull himself out with Keelan's sacrifice.
He was busy dabbing his hair dry when Fae's voice broke through is own thoughts. There was something about the way he spoke that tugged at Keelan and warmed him, his own smile becoming more soft. For a moment, he had to refrain from moving closer, knowing that Fae would lock up again if he tried giving him affection, yet it seemed like he might need it. Instead, Keelan wrapped his towel around his hips and reached down to grab the other one. As he moved closer, he dropped the cloth gently atop Fae's head and started gently toweling him off. It was an easy mask for showing kindness.
There seemed to be more behind Fae's words, too, and he was sure that he understood it without knowing what they were. And they were mutual.
"I am too." He playfully ruffled Fae's hair. "I'm sure we would not be here if I hadn't."
it just doesn't seem like it since they're both graduates of the school of instant gratification
