Your mother's right. [That may be the first time he's ever thought that.] It would be a bad idea. I'm sure she can tell you anything you need to know.
no subject
[Kieran can admit, a little begrudgingly, that they have their place, but he'd rather be outside, learning the world by being in it.] All she told me was your name.
no subject
I... wasn't expecting her to have said that much to be honest. [It's not meant as a dig at Morrigan. In truth he's not sure it wouldn't have been better for Kieran to have been told he was dreamed up and plucked from the Fade by a good spirit. If less believable.] Ah- Was there anything you did want to know?
no subject
[His love for his mother is a palpable thing; for his father, he's more tentative, considering the question for several moments before he answers.] Did you always know about your dragon's blood? It's the first thing I noticed about you.
no subject
The first thing you say. [Definitely a little creepy, that.] No. I didn't. For most of my life I had no idea. I still don't entirely believe it.
[Dragon's blood. It just seems absurd.]
Did you... notice it about yourself?
no subject
It's not, he knows, entirely normal to notice these things. But, as with the Inquisitor, asking his father about them seems far safer than bringing them up with the Orlesian nobility. Safer, that is, until he realizes that his father's brows are drawing in toward each other in an expression that doesn't bode well.
He shakes his head in answer to the question, slightly abashed. (For all that he learned to read others' faces in Orlais, he hadn't quite gotten the hang of concealing his own feelings.)]
At first, I didn't know what it meant. But Mother and I figured it out. [He's not sure how much she knew beforehand, and how much they'd learned together. But, he thinks, it's time to talk of something else. Something that won't draw out the frown waiting in Alistair's face.] You must have a lot of adventures, being a Grey Warden.

...He has to wonder if Morrigan knew that about him at the time or only figured it out later. That one question has raised so many more that Alistair isn't sure he wants to ask. He definitely can't start interrogating the boy (his son) about it so it's something of a relief when Kieran changes the subject.
Exhaling, Alistair forces a smile and nods.] I get in a lot of trouble, sure. Your mother must have told you some of the best stories, from during the Blight? I have a few more I could share. Though you might have better ones yourself. I imagine your life has been exciting too?
