Scheherazade / Harem Shipping Meme
Straight out of the Arabian Nights, or any variety of the spin-offs and spoofs since, in a beautiful and fantastical realm of magic and djinn. You may be the great ruler, prince, or sultana of the realm, or you may be the tribute, captive, or arranged marriage spouse brought before that ruler.


Scenarios:
1. Arranged Marriage - You’re both royals or nobles of some variety, but one of you has been sent far from home to be wedded to a stranger in a foreign land.
2. Ambition - You’re just one beauty in a harem of dozens—or hundreds—but you’re determined to stand out, to earn the exclusive attention of the ruler, and to take your place by their side as the ruler of this land.
3. Scheherazade - One night with the king (or queen). Perhaps your one-night spouse had their heart broken, like in the story. Perhaps they’re simply a monster, or they have other motives. They may kill you in the morning, unless you can convince them to delay, by at least one more day.
4. Tribute - Perhaps your land was conquered, or perhaps you’ve been sent here to secure an alliance. Either way, this wasn’t your idea, and you aren’t particularly happy about it.
5. Within the Harem - Both characters are residents of the harem. You hardly see the ruler, and they don’t matter. What does matter is the friendship—or love—that you have found within the harem, and, possibly, your plans for escape.
6. Outside the Harem - You’ve fallen in love with someone you shouldn’t. A guard, a servant, or someone outside the palace entirely. But in order to be with them, you’re going to have to break all the rules.
7. Arabian Nights - Wildcard scenario, play any elements from the Arabian Nights that you please. Magic carpets, powerful djinn, curses and treasure!

[As one of the younger children of the king, Soma had as of yet not built himself a harem. Other things had occupied his mind and he had been seen as too young as well. Now however all of that would change. He had become old enough to start building a harem to properly show his status and his father had even promised to find someone suitable as his first member. Needles to say he felt rather excited.]

[Soma had been draped out over a pile of pillows as the servant announced the arrival of his gift. It did not surprise him in the least that it got sent to him. His father was a busy man with little time to spare. Nonetheless he sat up in his pile of pillows, paying attention to the young man that got escorted into his chambers.

Whoa, he were really good looking. Pristine like a pearl. Getting up to his feet, he walked over to his gift with a big smile on his lips, leaning in a bit too close perhaps for a first meeting.]

It had been barely three months since the fighting had started. It had come as a total surprise to her family, one of the high noble rulers of the region, because they had been kept out of the negotiations that had failed with their neighboring country. Kept out because they had advised against the course of action their king had wanted to pursue, and with good reason.

Look at where it had gotten them. A quickly conquered land, struggling to secure any form of peace so their people didn't suffer further. Part of her bristled at the notion of those outsiders storming in and just taking over, but she didn't blame them for it - the king had handled things badly for a long time, and the people had been starving. Already the trade routes had reopened and supplies were being sent by the new ruling powers, winning the favor of their new subjects.

It wasn't enough, though. Alliances and connections between families were the best way to ensure that there wouldn't be an uprising, and so marriages were being arranged all over the two countries between the higher houses - her own included. That was how she found herself being carried toward a large estate outside the capital city, bound to be wed to the nephew of her new king. She would be the first of his wives, at least - that would afford her at least some modicum of power in this world where she would otherwise have none.

Malcolm dreaded being called before the Demon's Head. He was sure the man had found out what he was really doing among the League. He knelt and bowed his head. "What is it that summons me to your side Lord." The man known as Ra's waved his hand giving permission for Malcolm to rise.

"I have a gift for you my friend," he said as Malcolm rose and looked to see where the Demon's Head was pointing now. He saw the woman and felt his blood turn cold. Things were about to get messy and he knew it.

Claudia had not been brought up to be chattel, but circumstances had left her alone in the world. Had her brother not been an advisor to several nobles on the matters of astronomy and portents, she would have ended up on the street instead of a pawn in the game of houses. Her brother had educated her in many of his arts, but it was another talent that had kept her out of the brothels or slave markets. She was a curse-tamer, able to identify bespelled objects and lessen their effects to some extent.

That talent meant that she had been well-kept, saved for exactly the right moment, when a favor could be bought, or influence garnered. A priceless gift, but not one that should be displayed outside of the right setting. Were it not for the wisdom of the vizier who had adopted her, she would have been sold quickly and quietly to many men with less-than-desirable dealings.

Instead, she was being given as the kind of treasure she was, draped in silks and golden chains and jewelry far above the station of her birth. Her benefactor had claimed her his beloved niece, a polite fiction, but one that could justify the dowry that would make her more valued to the people as a whole, and guarantee her place in the harem instead of as a mere serving girl. A concubine who could whisper the meanings of portents or warnings of foul play in her master's ear as sweet nothings, invisible to the majority around them.

That she was also well-versed, at least in theory, in all the manners of pleasing a man was just a necessary skill, the same as handling servants and organizing meals or a dozen other skills a helpmeet might need. Claudia knew her safety lay as much in being valued as making sure that value was not a trinket to be passed on when no longer interesting.

[Even in defeat, Squalo kept his pride. His spirits were not a thing that could be broken no mater what. He might have lost his left hand in the battle, but hey he had killed loads of soldiers anyway. It really wasn't hard to see that he had been one of his kingdom's most skilled generals.

Even now he let it be shown as servants tried to make him look presentable for the ruler that now owned him. That had all ended up with guards having to hold him down just to get the worst blood and dirt off him and ensure that his still healing arm got a change of bandages. More then that wasn't manageable with him. They had not even been able to get him out of the simple clothing that he had been wearing beneath his armor. The guards even decided that it would be for the best to chain him up after he had manage to snatch a sword and wound one of the guards before he got disarmed.

So still in his own clothes, barely cleaned up and chained, Squalo got dragged in front of the king, staring him straight in the eyes, refusing to lower his gaze of bowing down. He had no respect for this man and as such he would not bow out of his own free will.]
