It's a splendid night for a party!

You received an invitation to a masquerade party and after wondering who exactly throws these things anymore outside of people in Italy and the strange people in that Vanilla Sky movie, you've decided to attend! Decked out in your best (or maybe not so best - it may have been last minute, after all), you descend on the party and prepare to make it a night to remember.

Is it your friend's annual Halloween party with a twist? Perhaps you're an international spy, trying to find out the best way to steal the Crown Jewels. Maybe this is part of Spirit Week at your high school and you really wish that your classmates would be more creative next time.

Elaborate Venetian, playful animals, dazzling supernatural creatures - whatever type of party it is, the night is young. Have fun.

This is not a RNG meme. Your characters' role and situation is entirely up to you. "But how do you play?" you might ask. It's as simple as 1, 2, 3!

1.) Post with your character. In the subject line type of your character's name and canon. If you'd like, in the comment section, you can describe what mask/costume your character is wearing and even include preferences (shipping/smut/gen).
2.) Tag around! This is a party after all, and your character can't find any of their usual crew behind their masks (or maybe they can and need to tease them mercilessly for their choice of costume).
3.) Profit!

Even with the Blight having been over for some time, there were always things to do as the Warden Commander of Ferelden. It was a demanding job that required a lot of travel.

These kinds of parties were actually low on the list of things Nubia disliked about traveling. She liked the excuse to dress up and socialize in the guise of 'politiking.'

She's wearing a minimalist gown and a simple white mask.

She sees the elf dressed like a noble at an Orlesian gathering, and, let's be honest, it's a bit uncommon. She finds herself drifting over to investigate.

And the coat and skull between them would take him less than a minute to put on. So right now he was wearing a black and gold flame mask and a black suit covered in gold flames that caught the light as he moved not exactly anonymously through the crowd.

He smiled behind the mask as he made it through the crowd to the person he was looking for, but had been gossiping unrecognised (other than possibly by the Girys). "Enchanted." He took Christine's hand and kissed it. "Miss Daaé? Delighted to make your aquaintance." She was of course the third person in the room who might recognise his voice.

[ Masquerades are never quite the same when you've got a visible quirk really. Her ears can retract, but they'll always be a little dangly regardless; it took some effort just to get her to show up when she's kinda defeating the purpose. Also, she had things to do...

Helps that Momo's here, granted. Kyouka's way more into her dress than she was that cheerleading getup too.

Still, even with a mask, she's not hard to find - but then again neither is Momo; Kyouka would recognize her tall, uh... curvy... figure on sight, except she sort of dithers over actually approaching her. ]

[John began, shuffling with the stupid mask he had on, trying to get it to sit over his glasses without it looking completely stupid. Spoilers: it was going to look stupid no matter what. He fussed with his outfit a little more as he and Lux stood outside the gates of a mansion that was a little too grandiose for his tastes.]

[The two were sent here at the behest of the Magician's council to make sure nothing shady was going on. The owners of the mansion were an old but luxurious family that had a few too many close brushes with the seedy and ...John honestly didn't know what it was all about, but it was apparently enough that the old farts in the council wanted them to go check out this stupid party incognito.]

[So basically they were here to eat fancy horderves and make sure no one died and nothing exploded. That was all great except for one thing. John didn't really care for the theme of this party.]

[ For all the fussing he did, all the adjustments of his costume (it was almost adorable how his glasses sat over his mask, that it took whatever willpower she could muster for Lux to not laugh), at least he could say he had one of the best dressed ladies on his arm. Or would, should he choose to play the part.

Where John was uncomfortable and seemed to not know what to do with himself, Lux was poised and reserved. The daughter to the Crownguard legacy, these sorts of parties were an all too common affair. Happy that the two had been assigned together for this task she knew that, so long as he didn't step on her toes on the dance floor, they were set.

Still, the comment caught her off guard (language, John!), and a surprised, sudden giggle escaping her, she bit it back, covering it up with a curled hand. Give her a bit of warning first! ]

If that ends up being the only thing that goes wrong this evening, then we should count our blessings.

The Tardis, in convenient people-shape, was there, over by the buffet, wearing a three piece suit of cobalt blue, with an elegant eye mask decorated like the cosmos, with a spiral galaxy for one eye and a faint dusting of super-fine, silver-blue glitter over the rest.

This was just one of the many stops that she and Ashildr had made since parting from the Doctor and running away with their own TARDIS like ship. A ball. A fancy one with masks and brilliant dresses and what not. It was just the sort of place to stop and enjoy themselves with out running into the Doctor (not that he would remember her, at all).

Dressed in a blue star like sparkling dress with a matching blue star like mask, Clara waltzed around with strangers for half the night, enjoying their stop over to this ball.

Taking a break she moved over to the buffet to glance over the snacks and drinks, plucking something up that was speckled and blue and used on crackers. Eh, can't hurt to try it. It's not as if she had a heartbeat at the moment anyhow. Live life to the fullest while she still can. And then she spotted the man in blue, smiling brilliantly at him. "That is, perhaps, my most favorite color." She said as a compliment.

It had been way too long since the Cutters had gotten to crash a bash, especially one this fancy. Somewhere along the way Shay had gotten separated from the rest of the group, but she didn't mind, she knew they'd find each other again.

She was wearing a simple brushed silk jumpsuit in a steel-gray, and a metal half-mask to match, a wolf's face, teeth bared, ears perked, it suited her.

The Six had decided to go with a theme - Jaegers vs. Kaiju in the style of historical eras. Hollis and Odile had drawn Medieval, Sindre and Silvie had drawn Wild West, which left Lyda and Sonja with Prohibition Era.

Hollis was the knight in armor to Odile's dragon-kaiju. His suit was simple, pale silver-grey and unadorned aside from stitched gathers at the elbows and knees indicative of chain mail between plates. He was wearing a white tie with a Templar's cross tie tack. His mask was a clever combination of the helmets of both the Zero Hour and the Burning Chrome while still looking like a stylized knight's helm faceplate.

Dixie had only decided to come at the last minute, which was why his costume wasn't terribly elaborate.

But for all that, it worked for him, a matte black tux, since it was the only one he had, with a cobalt blue tie and cuff-links, shaped like scarabs, along with an Egyptian-styled cat mask.

Apollo was keeping an eye on things, as was his job for the evening. His suit was basic black, aside from the teases of color here and there, gold thread pinstripes in his slacks and his waistcoat, an amber, sun-shaped tie tack, and of course a coppery sun half mask to go with it.

Hanna hadn't been to a party like this before, and when she'd heard about it she knew right away the mask she was going to use. She was going to the party as exactly what she was: a wolf in sheep's clothing.

The dress was something off of an Austen novel cover, an empire-waist, puff-sleeves and most importantly - enough volume to the skirt that it didn't restrict her movement if she needed to run for it. The mask, likewise was a Venetian styled wolf half-mask made of lightweight paper machè, and beautifully painted, fangs bared and ears up.

Maison hadn't been keen on the idea of a masquerade, but the Library had good security, so he'd been brought around, finally. He was weaving easily through the crowd having decided that Raven the Trickster was the best persona for the evening.

His suit was sleek black, his tie was red to match the streaks in his hair, and his mask was more of a half-helm, covering the upper half of his face and leaving a spill of feathers over his head. The beak seemed to be made of actual horn, and he surveyed the crowd with his head cocked like an actual bird.

Iggy | Maximum Ride (future-AU) | OTA

Costume parties like this were one of the few times that Iggy didn't have to keep his wings under wraps, because it was times like this that he could play Icarus, with a long tunic and sandals, and a harness that he'd made out of a few old belts, fitting easily around his chest and the base of his wings to make it look like they were strapped on.

His mask was simple leather as well, narrow and embossed with feather patterns.

Angie always loved Halloween, and having an actual house so that she could plan an actual party was the best and plan a party she did, having put the finishing touches on everything not an hour before, and had been planning her costume for weeks, pulling it together here and there whenever she had the chance.

It wasn't a terribly difficult dress to make, a copy of Alita's dress from Flight to Mars. Yes, Angie was spending Halloween as the leader of the Martian Women, and she was going to have fun with it.

Fisk's suit was an off-white linen, with twenty three lines picked out in red silk thread across the shoulders, back, and arms. His crown and mask were both simple, golden laurels and a gold domino mask. He was fairly sure that the suggestion of going as a post-betrayal Julius Caesar had been a joke, but the idea had tickled him so he'd figured out how to make it work.

Steve Rogers | MCU | OTA

Steve didn't like this idea one bit. While he agreed that a party was a good idea and would probably improve morale across the board, a masquerade was just asking for trouble.

He'd finally just decided on a stylized version of his cowl as a mask, blue and almost scaled, with small white Mercury's wings behind the temples, and even though he still thought it was a bad idea, he couldn't deny the fact that people were happy, he was seeing more smiles in the ballroom than he'd seen in a long time.
