RIGHT HAND MAN You're the trusted second to the boss. Are you happy with your position? Do you want to take over the family? Do your best. 3. BODYGUARD Self explanatory. Keep your boss (or whoever they tell you to) from dying. Or getting arrested, probably. Do you need to kill someone? Better make it clean. 4. RANK AND FILE Any other position. Treasurer, gun runner, enforcer, whatever. Maybe if you're good, you'll move up the ranks. 5. CIVILIAN You're not in the mob, but maybe they're leaning on you for protection money. Or you're dating someone in the mob. Wow, that boss is cute. Maybe you're a doctor paid off by the mob under the table. 6. POLICE Whether you're a corrupt cop being paid off or someone that really wants to put them away or even a rookie trying to make their name with a big collar, we have you covered. SCENARIOS 1. JOB WELL DONE Everything went great on your last mission! It's time to celebrate, probably with lots of booze. 2. JOB GONE WRONG Don't tell the boss, but nothing went right. Simmons was shot, we lost the cargo, and we almost got collared. Actually, do tell the boss about the cargo so no one thinks you stole it. 3. BUSTED Hope you enjoy prison because you just got caught and you're probably going to prison for tax evasion. 4. PUT OUT A HIT The current mission is: kill someone that did the family wrong. Can you do that? Can you escape if a hit is put out on you? Why is this done on a buddy system, anyway? 5. DOWN TIME Look, even crime families have time off. Hanging out, pretending to do real paperwork, actually doing real paperwork, whatever it is, it's not outright action-packed villainy. 6. LET'S GET DANGEROUS Any big-time jobs lately? Arson, making a statement to another family? All-out war? Damn, you've been busy. 7. BLENDING IN Let no one say the mob are heartless! Are you throwing a big party to show off your charity for the little people? Giving money to local kids? Making people put dates on milk bottles? 8. OVERTHROW It's time for new boss, same as the old boss. Do you get them put in prison? Kill them? Do you manage to get away with it or are YOU the one getting sent up the river? 9. A DEATH IN THE FAMILY Someone important to all of you has died. Did your boss pass away? Was the second-in-command murdered? How's the funeral? Do you need to get revenge? 10. ON THE HUNT Stop right there, it's the cops! You've been hunting this big fish for years, and now you think you've finally got something to get them put away for good. Go get 'em, slugger! Daken had heard about the shuffle of power in the club, or rather the Yakuza had. There were few supporters of the strange looking young man and rumors abound, but the Yakuza didn't want to get dragged into the feud. Daken's job tonight was to come play nice and deliver a gift on behalf of his organization that really expressed their whole 'look-we-don't-give-a-shit-what-you-idiots-are-doing-but-we're-here-to-make-money' strictly business attitude. They weren't choosing sides, they were simply expressing their willingness to continue their business dealings with whomever was currently in charge.

Oswald would infer what he wanted to from the fact that they'd sent one of their more notoriously ruthless hitmen to deliver the gift. Notorious, but very sharply dressed. He's met at the door by security and doesn't put up a fuss when frisked. As he's led to a secluded table near the stage one of the men goes to find Oswald to inform him of Daken's arrival - a representative of the Yakuza organization, oddly enough completely unarmed.

anyone who was anyone had been invited to a gala in one of the swankiest hotels in new york city-- a ballroom full of the richest and most influential people in the city, dressed like they could wipe their asses with benjamins, and drinking like they needed alcohol to survive. the occasion was vague-- perhaps artie just wanted to host a party, maybe he was finally getting divorced, maybe his daughter really was getting married. no one really knew.

the real reason? the english crime syndicate had knocked out a serious enemy from power, and had hacked into government records so sensitive, they could be classified with a baby's bottom.

two different missions, both incredibly successful, and arthur english just wanted to gloat about it. and why not? a win deserves a reward.

admittedly, adelaide was not particularly pleased that her family would be exposed to the danger of being walking targets in the midst of a party, but arthur was so pleased with her work, and gave her so much praise for seducing one of the government men straight into scandal that it would be rude to not attend. she had several knives on her, all her children were carrying guns, her husband was equally as armed. they were all fine. finefinefine.

[There's something annoying about having to walk down this tiled hallway to see the Boss. Maybe it's the bright lights bouncing off the white walls, leaving no visible shadows. Maybe it's how every noise is amplified, echoing along the hall to announce visitors before they'd want to be known. Maybe it's just the fact that it's so fucking presumptuous, this stupid shitty little mindfuck that's designed to make people focus too much on their own loud footsteps and make them hyper-aware of their vulnerability. Whoever walks along this hall could well be walking on death row; at literally any moment, someone just needs to half-heartedly point a gun in their direction and then the white would splatter with red and gray and then someone (some poor bastard) would have to come and clean it up, wouldn't they?

Or maybe he's just aware of his own position, and that's what's making him nervous pissing him off so much. Things had fucked up so, so badly just an hour ago. Cops, a fake shipment, a snitch in the ranks... There were some casualties. Two of their own were en route to a medical facility. Shit was gonna get expensive, and everyone knew that the Boss hated when shit got expensive.

[It hadn't come as a surprise that he'd been pulled into the fold; he'd grown up around it in the periphery, had met the don and other members of the Solo crime family on multiple occasions. His aspirations had differed, though. His father might've been an ex-cop and consigliere, but Armitage Hux had a completely different life plan: he was going to become district attorney before becoming a high circuit court judge.

Hux knew it wasn't something his father would agree with, and from the moment Brendol commended the academic course he'd set from himself and commented on the values of studying law, Hux knew he was going to pulled in at some point or another. The suspicion was proven when Brendol insisted on his free time outside of school be spent shadowing.

There was just one thing Hux hadn't predicted: that his father would get sent off to the big house before he even had a chance to take the bar exam. It completely changed everything, and what was worse was knowing that his father was there for life, among some of the criminals he arrested himself. It was the don's fault, and the man had the gall to want him to take his father's spot and treat him like a son.

He was bitter for a number of valid reasons, but he knew better than to act on his anger immediately. He had to bide his time and wait for the right moment--and it paid off. Two years later, Han Solo was in the ground and his son took his place. It would've been better if Hux could've just taken over himself, but at least Ben was green. Malleable. Potentially useful.
