LET'S GO TO THE FAIR MEME It's time to go to the fair! Food, rides, games, historical reenactments, the choices are endless! Go with your friends, your family, or if you're feeling romantic, go with a date! Don't run out of tickets.

LOCATIONS 1. COUNTY/STATE FAIR From the hokey to the bright and brilliant, you've been waiting for this all year! Are those rides up to code? Can you find the perfect fair food? Damn, those churros look good. 2. REN/PIRATE FAIRE Is something a little older your style? Try out a Renaissance or a pirate faire! You can dress up like the times or just be a civilian passing through. Mead, turkey legs, butt grabbing... 3. AMUSEMENT PARK Screw fairs, you want to go to Disneyland! Or Legoland, or Universal Studios... Whatever, you just want to go to the REAL THING. Elitist. You're not better than us. 4. HAUNTED CARNIVAL You thought this was a normal fair, but something seems... off. Are the ghosts fake or are they real? Does that guy have fangs? What the hell is this, Scooby Doo? 5. MUSIC FESTIVAL Who needs fairs when you can go to a venue and pay $40 for a t-shirt and watch thirty bands in one day and get heat exhaustion while drinking cheap beer? That's what we thought. 6. HOLIDAY FAIR It's Halloween! Or Christmas! You want to see pumpkin carving! Or Santa Claus! Whatever, man. You just like holidays. SCENARIOS 1. RIDES The Tilt-a-Whirl costs how many tickets? This had better be worth it. 2. FOOD Holy shit, you have to try this chocolate covered, deep-fried ice cream! We'll stand by with some paddles. 3. EXHIBITS You want to look at photography? Art? Some kid's ode to his dog made of popsicle sticks? Let's go for it. 4. ANIMALS Are those tiny pigs wearing JACKETS and running a RACE? We have to go right now. Alternatively, pay to see the world's biggest live alligator. Her name is Susy. 5. GAMES You really want to win that giant unicorn but for some reason, the pins won't fall over even when you hit them dead-center. Is this rigged? 6. ROMANCE Whether it's the tunnel of love, jousting for someone's hand, or just sitting around sharing a dessert, we've got you covered on the date front. 7. MASCOTS Maybe you want to meet Mickey. Or Santa. Or, I don't know, whatever the hell that dude over there in a suit is. Careful though, a lot of times little kids can be real scared. 8. CONTESTS Baking contest? Are there funny notes in the grading cards for some of them? Maybe you want to look at how some nerd set a table. Check them out, try to steal one of the blue ribbons, whatever. 9. SHOPPING Everything here is SO COOL. Did you see that light up headband? That shirt with an emoji on it? Seriously, what will they think of next? Just don't get swindled out of your money! 10. CONCERTS This is it, this is the good stuff. You wanted some music and now you've got it; what kind of music is your jam? Will you be sitting comfortably or are you going to meet someone in the pit? If your scenario doesn't match the location, make something up or pick a different one, we won't tell! As always, these are just suggestions. Make up anything you want, as long as you're having fun!

[ John's already embarrassed himself by half, he feels. It's not quite to the point of proclaiming all the bottles to be rigged just yet, but he's supposedly a steady shot in the department's eyes and two throws in he's only managed to knock down half of the milk bottles set up on the fairway.

There's one more throw to go. He could try to bean it on the center again, but he turns to his date at the last moment. Maybe he doesn't really want to accept all the defeat on his own. ]

[ A new life as a public servant had introduced the habitual con artist to many a thing he'd never expected to experience. Among those things being paid time off. And could he just jet off somewhere to relax? Would he want to? No. Least not by himself.

Which left him making a relatively easy case with his partner that she should join him on a trip out. Getting her to leave town to head to a resort city practically run and owned by Deez Knee -cause a guy that managed the hotel there owed him a favor from a few years ago, took a little more work.

He was sure if you looked up "workaholic" in the dictionary, Judy's picture would be next to it.

But that was all that led up to the two of them making their way through the park on a warm Autumn day, going through an area done up like a classy place from down South with a haunted mansion attraction maybe a dozen feet away. ]

"Fine. All right. Whatever. Whole team. Disneyland." Jack clucks his tongue as Lena and Hana start jumping up and down, and he turns to Mei with a very stern finger upraised. "But I'm not wearing the ears."

Jack is going over the mission readout with his coffee when Hana, Lena, Angela, and Mei thunder into the room in a marching line.

Although it's tracing the park map on his phone, Jack's finger twitches like it's flirting with the trigger of his gun. Damn, it's strange not to be wearing one. At least he's got his 76 jacket. He ignores both the passing kid and his mom's tittering, tipping his sunglasses down as he looks beside him to Mei, the shadow of those ridiculous ears flashing over her face in the hot California sun. "It says the Haunted Mansion wait's not too bad," he tells her. "There's some ice cream social with Rapunzel and that girl from Freezing in ten minutes, seems like your kind of thing...what, did I say something funny?"

It's just the two of them because the rest of the team's scattered off in pairs or trios (although not before Hana made off with a nuclear stockpile of selfies), and they haven't exactly been subtle about leaving Jack and Mei alone since they got back from Nepal. Jack doesn't mind. Besides wanting to cut the team some slack, he had promised to take Mei out somewhere...except he didn't quite imagine having these things on his head.

He resists the urge to poke at them as he reaches up to scratch one stubbled cheek, tossing Mei a lopsided smirk. "What do you say, ghosts or ice cream? Or I dunno, you can pick. This is, uh, more your scene than mine. Way more."

There isn't anything good to be said about his appearance, perhaps, but there he is, accepting a corndog, fries, and a funnel cake from a food truck on the outgoing side, at the front of a long line of mortals. To most he looks very fragile, an old man nearly skin and bones, stepping aside for the humdrum of life behind him to inspect his food with the twiddle of skeletal fingers. ]

( maybe this is supposed to be a reward — a job well done and a slap on the shoulders, with not as many words or physical contact — or maybe it's supposed to be a punishment. certainly feels more like the latter, though that could just be because damien had worn all black to protest fun when there was work to do, and the relentless, strangely over bright sunshine of the day was beating down from above, and up off the water to make him sweat.

he doesn't think todd was offered an invitation. he thinks the man just showed up on his own and no one had really felt comfortable pointing it out. and that was fine, because by lunch damian was begrudgingly glad to have at least someone in the crowd who wasn't having genuine fun or putting up a good show forcing it. gives him a good excuse to hang back without seeming completely withdrawn, despite the fact he and jason neither look or speak to each other. until —

he has no idea where dick is, and kind of hopes drake silently fell off the pier, but they're standing in the shade of an activity booth under the ferris wheel when jason bumps his arm and offers him a toy gun to shoot at the tin cut outs of rabbits beyond. it's... betrayal on some level, they were supposed to stay uninvolved and silently ignore each other, not give their money to these colorfully dressed extortionists ($25 for two players to shoot at poorly painted animals for three minutes? highway robbery!) and it's laughable on most all the other levels because — )
