③ GENTLE. They knew it was coming, you knew it was too late to back out. Trouble is, you're having a lot of FEELINGS.
④ GIGGLY. How are you supposed to kiss them when neither of you can stop laughing?
⑤ SMOOTH. You couldn't have been smoother with that smooch if you were whisked with fruit, dashed with milk and served over the counter.
⑥ DANGEROUS. This really isn't the time to be getting romantic! If it goes wrong, you can always blame the adrenaline, right? Right.
⑦ SAD. Remember: a wet kiss is a memorable kiss, even if it isn't a good one.
⑧ TEASING. The tables have turned: this time, they will be the one left wanting more.
⑨ PAINFUL. Clinked teeth? Banged foreheads? Well done, Romeo, now you both share the same sore distraction.
⑩ LINGERING. You just ... can't ... stop. Uh oh.

[ It's the same routine as it always is, spending over a week apart and then taking a few days to reacquaint themselves with each other before settling into a familiar lull. The way they co-exist is always the strangest thing, if Steve takes the time to think about it, but for the most part, at least for now, he doesn't. He's content to drag Tony away from his work and distract him as thoroughly as he can before they repeat the story that's become their lives. Currently, that's what he's aiming for after spending nearly half an hour waiting for him to finish something, and by then, he's bored enough to interrupt him.

Steve's subtle about it at first, placing his phone at the end of the table before walking around and closing the distance between them rather slowly. He always makes an effort to be interested in whatever it is Tony's doing, supporting him in every way possible, but sometimes, that's not the case. This would be one of those moments, slipping an arm around his waist in order to press himself up against his back as he leans forward to glance over his shoulder. ] Maybe you should take a break. [ It's murmured into his hair, eventually tilting his head to kiss at the warm skin just below the nape of his neck. ]
