[Waly just winces and lets out a noise of disgust, having read Michael's piece and looked into it far enough to run into the sex toys.] Good grief Mike, of course I'm not! It's just an example of my point about demographics.

[He took a bite of his burger and swallowed it before mumbling.] Bad enough that some people say Spirited Away is about prostitution.

[personal profile] constantreplication 2016-08-13 11:03 pm (UTC)(link)
[Mike switches to pointing a finger at Wally rather than a fry, the gesture seeming much more menacing.] You better not. Your point about demographics is redundant anyway, TV is all about mass consumption these days... no-one wants to pigeonhole themselves to one audience. [He shakes his head then sharply.] Okay no more discussion about it, ruin those movies for me and I'll ruin your month.

[Wally was about to point that demographics were important for stuff that was meant to sell merchandise, but Mike shaking his head sharply makes him reconsider. Instead, he grabs another french fry and dips it in his mustard.] Alright, consider it dead, then. What d'you want to talk about instead?
constantreplication: (Thinking)

[personal profile] constantreplication 2016-08-16 11:01 pm (UTC)(link)
[He shrugs.] I don't know, how about you pick the next topic and try make it something less than offensive? [He's smiling though which is a rare expression on his face, reaching forward for his soda and taking a drink, chewing on the straw.]

[personal profile] tactilefoodie 2016-08-17 12:03 am (UTC)(link)
[He chuckles at that smile coupled with the more aggressive reply. It's nice to see that Mike can smile at least, especially with Wally.

Maybe trying to be friends with the other man really isn't a hopeless endeavour after all! Either way, he picks a pickle off his burger and chews on it thoughtfully before swallowing a speaking.]
Hummus. Thoughts? [He then starts laughing at waving a hand in front of himself, as if warding off Mike's fury.] Ok, ok, that was a bad joke. Unless you do want to talk about food. I'm all for that.
constantreplication: (Thinking)

[personal profile] constantreplication 2016-08-17 11:53 pm (UTC)(link)
[Mike had pretty much forgotten his food at this stage, crossing one of his legs under the other and maiming his straw instead, sipping the soda occasionally. His eyebrows raise towards his hairline when he hears the hummus comment and she shakes his head with a scoff.] No, Wally... how about we take food, TV and journalism off the table and see what kind of actual conversations we might have? [He gestures with his drink, using his straw as a pointer.] You're the one who said we could maybe be friends outside of work, now's your chance to prove it.
tactilefoodie: (Default)

[personal profile] tactilefoodie 2016-08-18 12:26 am (UTC)(link)
[Wally just blinks at the scoff and dismissal of the topic of food before simply grinning lopsidedly and nodding. He also makes a mental note to tally just what else Mike uses as a pointer.] Alright. Let's get anything that's not work related out of the table.

[Figuratively speaking, of course, because he actually really likes what the place they went to puts out.] So, you work out, right? Anything else you do for sports? I've done a bit of everything, but I'm getting partial to hiking and rock climbing. Around Lake George and Breakneck Ridge especially.

[personal profile] constantreplication 2016-08-18 10:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Finally. I might actually grow to like you if you can finally take your head out of the office for a half hour. [He grins, moving the straw to his lips again, sucking thoughtfully.

Eventually he comes to a mental conclusion and shrugs, trying to think of a plausible story.
] Like yourself, a little bit of everything. Always been kinda an urban guy though. Dance is pretty good for working up a sweat, hot yoga too.
tactilefoodie: (14)

[personal profile] tactilefoodie 2016-08-18 11:39 pm (UTC)(link)
[He chuckles at Mike actually saying he might actually like him, and waits for the other man to finish sipping his drink. He's visibly surprised when he hears the answer though, blinking and looking at Mike with slightly wider eyes as he processes that.] Dance and hot yoga, huh? Not gonna lie, I half thought you were going to say parkour when ypu mentioned being urban.

[That and he's not sure he really sees Mike doing either of those, but then, he doesn't know the other man that well, so what does he know?]

[personal profile] constantreplication 2016-08-19 12:02 pm (UTC)(link)
[Michael rolls his eyes.] I do that too, but its not a workout... more like a way of getting 'round the city when the subway isn't running. [He winks though, playing it off as a joke. Really he'd done all of these things and more, he just doesn't tend to leave the city to do anything. If Wallace knew half the things he got up to at night time he'd have a very different perception of the TV critic.]

[personal profile] tactilefoodie 2016-08-19 08:31 pm (UTC)(link)
[He raises an eyebrow at the reply, only to chuckle when he sees the wink.] I was going to say, no way you'd look that presentable when you get to work if that was true.

[personal profile] constantreplication 2016-08-22 09:25 pm (UTC)(link)
[Mike laughs and loudly this time too.] Maybe I keep a change of clothes or I just don't sweat? I might have all kinds of skills you don't know about.
tactilefoodie: (07)

[personal profile] tactilefoodie 2016-08-22 09:44 pm (UTC)(link)
[Truthfully, Wally has the distinct feeling that Mike is full of shit on at least some things right now. But he won't say that, because it's bound to start an argument, and frankly he's enjoying actually having Mike act like this for once.] Ok, I seriously doubt you just don't sweat, that's not a real thing if you're not a mutant. [He then raises his hands in a half placating, half surrender gesture.] But I'm sure you have all kinda of skills I don't know about. For instance, I didn't know you dance.
constantreplication: (Grin)

[personal profile] constantreplication 2016-08-24 01:02 am (UTC)(link)
[Mike cocks an eyebrow.] Isn't it? I mean you can get your sweat glands injected with botox to make you stop perspiring. Michelle in Lifestyle was doing a piece on it with some girl who had to change her shirt twenty times a day 'cause she had overactive sweat glands. [He grins though taking another sip of his soda.] Well yeah I keep that one secret, can't have everyone following me to the club on Friday when work lets out.
tactilefoodie: (02)

[personal profile] tactilefoodie 2016-08-24 07:29 pm (UTC)(link)
[He raises a finger at that.] Ah, but would you get botox for that? That's the quest now, isn't it? [He then chuckles at the image Mike evoked.] Somehow, I think you'd actually be dragged to the club, not followed.
constantreplication: (Amused)

[personal profile] constantreplication 2016-08-24 11:26 pm (UTC)(link)
[He chuckles.] How do you know I haven't already got it done, huh? [He shakes his head then.] Ah Wallace you really don't know me too well. Notice how I've never worked a Saturday even when stuff has needed done? Clubbing, that's why.
tactilefoodie: (09)

[personal profile] tactilefoodie 2016-08-25 08:16 pm (UTC)(link)
[Wally just looks at Mike with a slack jawed incredulous smile, before letting a breathless laugh.] I'm following you this Friday. I gotta see that for myself.
constantreplication: (Coy)

[personal profile] constantreplication 2016-08-27 11:01 pm (UTC)(link)
So one little lunch and we're suddenly friends enough that you're gonna start following me places? [He cocks an eyebrow, suddenly seeming as cool and incredulous as ever.] Some people would call that stalking, Musgrave.
tactilefoodie: (14)

[personal profile] tactilefoodie 2016-08-27 11:40 pm (UTC)(link)
[Wally raises his own eyebrow, somewhat baffled at Mike himself.] You realize I was just playing off what you said earlier, right? I didn't mean I was going to literally follow you.
constantreplication: (Grin)

[personal profile] constantreplication 2016-08-31 10:29 pm (UTC)(link)
[Mike nods, but makes a noise of assent that comes off as incredibly sarcastic.] Yeah sure, I can still totally see you doing it Musgrave. Don't get me wrong you're totally a nice guy but you might still do it.
tactilefoodie: (07)

[personal profile] tactilefoodie 2016-09-03 09:26 pm (UTC)(link)
I see what you can see me doing is about as accurate as what I can't see you doing. [And he's back to eating his burger because the thing's been neglected in the middle of the conversation.]
constantreplication: (Suspicious)

[personal profile] constantreplication 2016-09-04 10:11 pm (UTC)(link)
More accurate... I'm a critic of visual media. Maybe I'm a quick judge of character from all the years of examination? [He grins widely, before suddenly cocking his head.] Wait a minute... how does a food critic enjoy eating this crap? I mean I like it cause I love a guilt burger but isn't it like, poisoning your tastebuds or whatever?
tactilefoodie: (09)

[personal profile] tactilefoodie 2016-09-13 09:25 pm (UTC)(link)
[He lets out a small laugh at that, taking a swig of his soda before replying.] Hey, I like a good guilt burger too! Only it's not always so guilty, but trust me, I love all food, fast or home made. Turning the snob on and off is actually pretty easy.
