[ When Eggsy goes home it's like the world just stood still. A picture that one he steps into starts moving once more. A flow. A hop, skip and a jump and everything is hunky fucking dory. Or something. He's back with Kingsman and Harry still isn't alive. It breaks his heart, but he's a Kingsman. Which means he stows that shit. Harry did. All the time. Time goes by and he shoves all the people that meant something to him into a tiny box and tries to forget. Effy, Gemma, Tig, and that girl. The one who knows more about weapons than he used to. Allison. It was a brief meeting and it was nice, but he still stows her away too. All his friends and the people that were apart of his life get locked away until Eggsy has the strength to deal with them.

A mission takes him to America. Fucking America. He adapts and he does what he's supposed to do. He has a mental breakdown on his target and Merlin tells him to take a vacation. Clear his head. He knows something is wrong with him. It always is. So, he takes a leave of absence and he travels around America. Town to town. City to city. Looking for something to keep his mind occupied. Vegas is a fucking trip, but Eggy's IQ and his ability to nearly count the cards gets him into more trouble than Merlin wants. He leaves and decides that maybe the beach is what he needs. A tan. He's British and the sun isn't exactly something they get to see often.

He finds California a bit much. The people are weird and they don't really think Eggsy's humor is that great. It's still fun. A bit like a game really. On a whim he thinks about her. A snipet of small conversation. One of few. He takes a risk and he looks her up. A random idea and then he finds himself outside an apartment door. Waiting. Breathing in and hoping that this isn't just some random person with the same bloody name. That he's not a complete wanker for what he's doing. And he knocks. ]

She didn't go back to school. She enrolled in a few college courses under an assumed name, prerequisites to prepare for the end, for everyone else to graduate. She had to keep a low profile, and she hated it. She missed her friends, her old life, the freedom of the island even beneath the thumb of Atia. She sometimes finds herself reaching up to touch a collar that's no longer there, thinking of the people it brought her to...Ana, Ishida, Chloe...Eggsy, that debonair boy with the edge of street in him and a love of arms that made her smile just thinking about him.

She's thinking of him when the knock at the door comes, shaking her from her thoughts. With a sigh, she heads for the front door, fully expecting the UPS guy with her textbooks for the Biochem class she's taking at Lydia's insistence.

For a second, when she sees him, she thinks she's dreaming.

But he doesn't go away.

And after long moments of just gaping at him, her mouth finally starts to curl into a smile.

For a second, she forgets they're not in Beacon Hills. It's the island again, and flinging herself into his arms the way she does in that moment so she can wrap her arms around his neck and kiss him...

Maya curled up on the sofa, putting the bowl of popcorn down between them. It was too hot for a shirt, but she still had one on. Because Sansa was... it was complicated. Part of why the bowl of popcorn was between them, to keep things civilized, keep them from doing something they regret. Or... making things weird, cause Maya didn't want to make things too weird. Maya picked up the remote and surfed through channels. This was Maya trying to show off the modern world.

And Maya forgot this place was a little unconventional.

( time wears on, things change. they are no longer as feared and revered as they once were, yet still godly in most every way that counts. infiltrating the human world is easy — they fall in and out of the mortal routine of workplaylive and excel when they put their minds to it. in her less chronicled history, hera has built empires and systematically let them crumble when she grew bored and wished to move on to something else. currently she spends most of her time sitting at an expansive oak desk on the top floor of an executive building, putting very little effort into managing the various clothing lines, magazine, and mass produced children's furniture designed on the floors beneath her. it's boring work, and when she is bored, that is when she returns to zeus.

theirs is an ancient marriage, fraught with strife and worn thin. they've two different ideas of love, it would seem, and the distance they (she, alright, she) routinely placed between them helps to aerate the wounds.

but sometimes — often against her better judgement — she misses him. it's like there's a compass in her chest that inevitable pulls her across seas, mountains, anything until she's in his bed. and they'll make up for a year, maybe two before the veneer cracks, something goes wrong, and they fight and rage until someone — not always the two of them — suffers irreparable damage. but hera clings to the pleasant times in the back of her mind, and she's always in love again when crawling into bed beside him. this particular time, it's dusk on some beach house or another; far off the waves slosh on the sand almost lyrically, and the sun on his back paints his skin a warm, alluring tone. the sheets are soft, and his skin softer as she drags her fingers down the length of his spine.
