"Then I guess you're going to have to practice on me a little more," Leonard suggests. "I can be very rewarding when you get a lift just right." It was more than just the target and grab, it was knowing how to divert attention and how to play it off in the unlikely chance that you get caught.
To be fair, Harry was good. It took some coaching, but he had a gift for it. Add in a little of his natural charm and he could be the utter terror of the New York jet set elite.

"Speaking of art, though... I, um. I've been working on something. For you, that is." It's no mystery that Harry loves painting. He's been doing it since he was a kid and has since flourished into a skilled artist. Of course, with Leonard occupying many of his thoughts, it's no surprise that eventually it would leak into his artwork as well. "You should come by and see it when you get a chance."
His lips quirk to the side, his grin becoming lopsided in amusement. "'Cause that doesn't already devolve into me trying to get fresh with you," he counters, snickering to himself. Harry earnestly tries to take it seriously at first, but after a while, he can't help himself. His hands subtly start to wander, his touches linger more than they should, and before you know it, he's turning it into an absurd little game of seeing how handsy he can get with Leonard. "But I'm also enticed by the promise of a reward." He hums coyly, like it's an impossibly hard decision to make. "I guess I can try to behave."

A sly smirk as they walk. Not that Len minded. Harry might have enthusiasm on his side, Len had experience and was swatting away hands right and left with casual ease as they walked. "No fooling around in the museum now," he warns, shifting closer to kiss his jaw again. "Let's save that for later, hm?"
As they walk through the museum, Len leans close to occasionally point out security measures, flaws, timing issues and every way he could break in with a few day's worth of planning.
"Now that's done - I believe you have some art of your own I should see?"
no subject
Well, you couldn't blame a guy for trying. Harry was entertained, fighting back grins and fits of laughter until they approached the museum. Leonard's warning is met with a playfully disappointed 'aw', but Harry obliges. Mostly. When Len turns to kiss him, Harry tilts his head to catch his lips and steal a quick kiss of his own before he can turn back. After that, he's on his best behavior.
Most of the security talk flies over Harry's head, but he listens closely and tries to learn. Even if he doesn't intend on stealing anything, it's useful knowledge. He's so used to other people handling security for him, and it's a huge eye-opener to how easily some things can be exploited if someone really wants to break in. "Damn," is Harry's awe-filled interjection. "You're unbelievably smart, y'know that? How do you even figure all this stuff out? When I look, I see ironclad security, but you... You've always got a way in."
But as promised, Harry does take Leonard around and show him his favorite pieces of art to ensure they'll stay. He favors the simpler, more elegant pieces. In particular: a Japanese painting of a bird on a bamboo tree and another that took scraps of a painted canvas and pasted them onto a new canvas in a pattern.
no subject
There were reasons that he didn't get caught. He was that good.
The interjections are always met with small smiles and a squeeze of his hand. Leonard is not one used to praise, but he's getting better at learning to accept compliments thanks to Harry. "Old man used to take me on jobs as a kid. I learned fast, learned how to plan and learned that making mistakes is what gets you in jail or worse." He'd also learned the hard way, but that wasn't something for discussing in a very public museum.
He makes note of the paintings that Harry likes, appreciating their design. "There's a power to something like that," he murmurs. "Being able to convey so much with just a few strokes of a brush." He can memorize blueprints, chart out response times and plan a job down to the second, but Len has never been the artistic type. Not that he'd ever been allowed to try as a kid, but he can appreciate a gift in someone else.
"Come on, I think we're making security nervous." A tug at his hand and a smirk thrown over his shoulder as they melt into the crowd. Anyone who pays too much attention to sensors, looking at things that weren't art tended to make the local rent-a-cops uncomfortable.
sorry this took so long! work has been crazy
Harry might not always be the most observant guy, but he could be when he was interested enough. In Leonard's case, very. He picked up on the discomfort with compliments pretty quickly, and what little he knew of Leonard's past was enough of an explanation. So... Harry made a concerted effort to give compliments. Not too often, not too few, and always genuine. After all, who doesn't appreciate praise? Harry practically lives for it. "I can't believe he did that," Harry mumbled, frowning a little. "What kind of person puts their own kid in danger?"
"Honestly, that's... what I love about art. There aren't any wrong answers. As long as you try, as long as you put feeling into it, it's right. It might not resonate with everybody, but if it resonates with you... that's all that matters." And for a young man who's spent most of his life being a disappointment to his father for his lack of aptitude in science, his lack of ambition... that kind of freedom is powerful and welcoming. "You can tell a lot about a person just by looking at their art."
A confused hum left Harry's throat-- he hadn't noticed security getting suspicious (again, not the most observant), but he follows Leonard without question. "Where to?" he asks, curious. Since Leonard only visits New York as opposed to living here, Harry likes to give him the option of deciding their destination on the chance that something's caught his eye.
No worries at all - they're cute and worth waiting for
With a sly smirk he holds up a wallet that isn't his. He'd been watching security and listening intently whenever Harry pointed out one of his favorites, but that didn't mean he wasn't going to at least fund their afternoon in the process. "Lunch?"
awww yes, i totally agree!
After a sparing a couple quick glances around to see if anyone is staring at them, he lowers his hand to reveal a crooked smile to match the shaking of his head. "So much for letting me treat you," he remarks. Even after all this time, he still feels guilty whenever Leonard steals something. 'What if someone needed that?' is usually his reoccurring thought. He can never quite help it and it continually baffles him that Leonard can do it without batting an eyelash. He cares too much about Len to fuss much about it, but there's a repressed sigh caged behind Harry's lips.
"Lunch sounds great. There's a nice little diner just up the street I don't think you've been to, yet." His brows raise as he gives an eager little smile. "They have the best pie."
no subject
"You can buy us dinner. Someplace nice. Or get us a nice hotel room," he suggests. Knowing Harry he'll go and do all of the above, but he likes how sincere he is with his attentions.
"Then lead the way," he tucks the wallet away and slips his hand into Harry's as they walk.
no subject
And lead the way, he does. It's a few blocks, but Harry is happy to keep it to a leisurely stroll, fingers laced with Leonard's. Simply enjoying his company while he has it.
"So... you gonna tell me what you've been up to, or is that a conversation for later?" Discussing Leonard's adventures isn't usually wise to do in public, but Harry is always insatiably curious about them. Ergo, it never stops him from asking. It's not like Harry ever really has anything interesting to talk about. Being Head of Special Projects at Oscorp sounds like a big deal, but it's actually pretty mundane.

"Since my last little trip to take in some local historical pieces," or as the CCPD would call it, a major heist of antiquities bound for Keystone City, that netted him a tidy profit, "it's been quiet. Laying low for the time being, sorting out those tricky details after the fact." Making sure the buyer paid up and the haul was safely smuggled out of the city.
"It was fun. I might have to look at stretching my legs again soon." Mick was getting itchy and he felt like another decent challenge. "But not until I head home. I'm not in town for business."
no subject
Right now, he's getting a good chuckle out of the way it's veiled with just enough vagueness not to be suspicious. "Sounds like a pretty satisfying run. Maybe you can tell me more about it later?"
Despite his sincere curiosity, however, Harry's relieved when Leonard declares that there'll be no jobs while he's here. "Good. I like when I can keep you to myself," is his playful answer, but he absolutely means it.
It's not long before they're in the homey little diner, where it's immediately apparent that Harry is a regular, usually coming in for a pie fix. Further apparent is that Leonard is a frequent subject of conversation, because he's greeted with an excited, "Oh, is this the mysterious boyfriend, Harry? It's about time we get to meet him!" Harry just shoots a sheepish grin at Leonard as they're lead over to their seats.
What can he say? He likes to brag and gush about things that are important to him.
no subject
Not that Len was sloppy. He gave him details, but left out enough to ever potentially incriminate him. While he trusted Harry, he wasn't going to get careless.
The diner reminds him of the one in Central City, the one he'd sit in with his grandfather. They'd eat waffles, time police responses, one of the few good childhood memories he had. Leonard settles down with a quiet smile, ducking his head as the waitress gushes over both him and Harry. Mysterious boyfriend?
A teasing chuckle. "Mysterious, hm?"
no subject
The waitress gushes a little bit more before handing them their menus and running off to get some glasses of water for them. Harry is - admittedly - a little embarrassed. He's got a bit of a big mouth sometimes (or Chronic Foot-in-Mouth Syndrome, as Peter and MJ like to call it), and he's wondering already if he might have yapped too much.
"Yeah..." Harry laughs, rubbing at the corner of his brow with a knuckle. "I kind of talk about you a lot without... actually divulging a ton of detail--" Which he is quick to add, because Harry's at least smart enough not to run around blurting things out. "--and they keep asking to meet you." And he and Leonard usually get swept up in each other when he visits, so Harry just sort of keeps forgetting to bring him by. "But... y'know. I'm easily distracted," he adds as he grins down at his glass of water. And who could blame him? Leonard Snart is the furthest thing from an eyesore. Add in all those knowing touches geared to make Harry practically melt into his hands and that low murmuring voice of Leonard's, and Harry's a goner before long.
"Ergo, you are mysterious. But that's good, right?"
no subject
He'll pass.
"Besides. The distractions are half the fun."
no subject
Not that he's complaining, mind you. Even after the throes of passion, he enjoys just laying there, listening to Leonard's heartbeat. It's an intimate little privilege to be so close to him, to be allowed past those walls Leonard's built up so well.
"Sorry, pal. I promise the food's worth suffering through the gushing and socializing for," he adds with a more earnest smile as he pushes Leonard's menu towards him with his free hand.
no subject
The time they spend together is what Len values most, when it's just Leonard and Harry and the rest of the world falls away. He can let down those walls and hold him close. He can be happy.
He picks up the menu with a quirked grin. "I don't doubt it. There is a diner like this in Central City. I used to go with my grandfather when I was young. We'd watch the police, time their responses." It was one of the few good memories he had. Len sips his coffee, adding a sprinkle of salt to mellow out the bitterness.
"Places like this have personality."
no subject
He loves hearing about them.
"Yeah? It sounds nice, Len." And very distinctly Leonard. Timing police responses? Of course. Harry chuckles quietly, and then-- out of simple curiosity: "So, you like places like this or the fancy restaurants better?"
no subject
"I prefer the fancy hotel rooms and privacy myself," there's a hint of a smile around his coffee as he teases Harry.
no subject
"Well... Maybe I can look around for more places like this, then. Skip the fancy restaurants unless you're feeling ornery." Harry wishes he could say it was fun watching Leonard work his magic, but most of the time, he never even saw it happen. Len is just that good. One minute, he'll be empty-handed and the next, brandishing some poor idiot's wallet. That in itself was pretty amazing. "I still dunno how the hell you do it, aside from working those deft hands of yours. Sometimes I think you've got superpowers you're not telling me about."
He ducks his head a bit, grinning wide. "Guess that makes two of us. Luckily, I've got plenty of that saved for later if you think you can wait."
