Welcome to My World!
Welcome to My World!

It's a whole new world! And how lucky, you've got a friend(?) who has the responsibility of helping you live through it. Are you a Super Saiyan getting used to the idea of demons in feudal Japan? Or maybe you're an angel who's making friends with a pretty sweet alien. Maybe you just come from an alternate version of earth and need a local to help you overcome culture shock. Thank goodness you're not alone!
Here's how it works:
1. Leave a post. You will be the guide to any new arrivals to your world!
2. Comment to posts. You are stuck in the world belonging to the person you've tagged. (i.e., if you tag Naruto, you'll be in his world with him as your guide)
3. SHENANIGANS. Thread out any scenario! Maybe various scenarios! Write an epilogue when you're done or something. Use this meme to launch a million AUs for the musebox. DO WHATEVER YOU LIKE.

...Thanks, I guess.
[ That's about all there's time for, anyway, before riveting tale begins!! And Cloud has no other choice but to listen to all of it, over the sound of their walking through the wasteland outside the city.
...Was that his whole life story? That was his whole life story.
Oh boy, the universe just keeps on picking him winners. What he wouldn't give for a random encounter, right about now. ]
Must be. I've never heard of a 'Mist Continent,' before.
no subject
[Hey man, you asked him where he was from, not his whole life story, and he said 'long story short'. Maybe if you're lucky, soon enough, he'll tell you about adventures so varied and exciting it takes four whole discs to fit them all in!]
Technically, the Mist Continent needs a new name, since the Mist's gone now. [Right, he'd forgotten about that for a second, what with the problem of not knowing where the hell he was. It's still difficult to envision it mistless. He hasn't gotten a good look at it yet, what with all the things that had been going on.] But that just happened, and I don't think anyone made up another name yet, so Mist Continent it is. You'd'a fit right in before the Mist cleared out, though!
I've never heard of Midgar, and I've seen the world map. So--this must be another world. Huh, I didn't think there was a gateway to another planet hanging around somewhere. That makes this the third one I've been to! [He thinks this over, as traveling to other worlds isn't something he associates with happy times.] Any weird stuff going on here lately?
no subject
He may not know anything about Mist or why he'd better fit in with it, but he's going to assume that isn't a compliment and just make some kind of wordless mutter of acknowledgement (or warning?) as he shrugs a shoulder and keeps walking. This guy's obviously a little off his nut, if he thinks he's some kind of interplanetary traveler, anyway.
Ever skeptical, Cloud shakes his head. ]
Nothing more than usual.
[ Except for this and all... ]
Does 'weird stuff' usually happen wherever you go?
no subject
And clouds, mist, kind of similar, get it?
Zidane is a down to earth dude, even with all the (sort of) interplanetary travel.]
Good, good to know! [That's a relief. He's had to deal with enough disasters and tragedies recently. He could use a break.]
Not always. Maybe a little. Sometimes. [It didn't used to, but now he's not so sure. Maybe he is a weird stuff magnet. After all, he has just shown up in this weird place.] Lately, yeah.
What's the usual weirdness around here, then?
no subject
And admission is the first step to recovery, don't you know that, Zidane? It's okay if you're a horrible magnet for tragedy and death; Cloud can't really judge.
His interest in this conversation seems to be waning, though, tenuous as it ever was, while he takes a cautionary look around as they approach the outer wall of the ground-level half of the city (i.e. the nasty, shady-looking slums). ]
Monsters, mostly. If you're not heading into the city, you'd better watch your back.
[ Not that he shouldn't watch out in Midgar, too, what with all the evil corporations and muggers and animatronic death houses, but that's pretty basic stuff, right? ]
no subject
Waaait, it could be that something is seriously wrong with his perception at this point. Somehow, he's grown used to fighting monsters all the time. Horrible, murderous monsters. And his murderous brother.
Also animatronic death houses. With cannons.
Maybe he is a magnet for death and destruction after all. That sucks. He just wants to have a good time.]
Oh, so this is what your money looks like, huh? [Suddenly, Zidane is holding money and slipping it into his own pockets. Who can say where he got it from? Though notably, this is the first time they've been around a decent number of other people as they head into the city, but no one notices anything amiss.] Pretty plain, but money's money, I guess?
[A man's gotta do what a man's gotta do. The slums look different from the slums he's familiar with, but he was raised by criminals, after all.]
no subject
Oh, well. Makes it easier to handle being saddled with yet another problem, if it's just going to cheerily go along with everything. (Not that he couldn't do without the cheer, of course.)
That little sleight of hand catches his attention, however, and Cloud nearly does a doubletake as the money disappears, somehow managing not to check his own pockets in a fit of paranoia. ]
...You're a thief?
[ (Great. Just great.)
Nevermind where in the world he's really from, to have never seen gil, before. He must be hiding a Mastered Steal materia somewhere to be that good, but Cloud's at least considerate enough to keep his voice pitched low as they move through the aimlessly milling crowds. No reason to start a riot. ]
no subject
Money all pocketed and his marks none the wiser, he nods. Of course he didn't take anything of Cloud's. Zidane would never steal from a bro, and you're his bro now.]
Only when I gotta be. You might say I'm a man of many talents.
[He winks, then leans in closer to stage whisper to Cloud.]
Don't worry, those guys I stole from looked like jerks. I'll give you a cut later.
[And they'd looked like they could spare it. Most people like that in this area are probably up to no good. Zidane doesn't steal from the poor, because--okay, for one thing, because they really don't have much money, but also he's a nice guy.
With a Steal ability like Zidane's (not to mention Master Thief), who needs Materia? Cloud probably wouldn't even have seen anything if Zidane hadn't been showing off. Although--what if he were given a Mastered Steal Materia on top of that? Would there be anything he couldn't steal? Would he break some kind of mystical thieving barrier and become a mega super ultra godly thief?
Maybe it's best not to find out.
He's seen gil, his gil just look different.]
no subject
There are really only two kinds of people in the slums, anyway: those who want out and those who want out but spend their time picking off the weakest of the other lot in hopes of getting there. And though he is by no means the greatest judge of character, Cloud already doesn't think Zidane so likely to be the second type.
He won't object to getting a cut, either. Anything beats the pittance AVALANCHE is paying.
Though we might have to be discussing this bro business later-on... ]
A lot of people here are the same. [ He nods to the drably-dressed stragglers drifting by as they pass along the winding dirt path cut through mountainous piles of debris. ] Nobody chooses to live in the slums. They do what they have to to survive.
no subject
He has to admit it to himself: this place is depressingly gloomy, and dirty, and then there's all the smog. He'd wanted to take a break and get back to his lady after months of dealing with terrible problems and the world almost being destroyed. So his cheer is flagging--somewhat--as they enter the slums proper. He'd thought the slums in Treno were bad (and they were), but this is worse.]
Looks like it. Who'd wanna live here? Lemme guess, the rich people live up there. [He nods upward. It isn't too unfamiliar, it's just that here the slums are down instead of up. If it turned out that he had to stay here, he'd have to get up there and steal from some rich people so he could help the people down here out, spread the wealth. With this in mind, Zidane pauses to slip some of his money surreptitiously to one of the stragglers: a kid who looks like she could use it. Easy come, easy go.]
What do you do to survive? [He doesn't know too much about his new friend, does he?]
no subject
[ Gee, you catch on fast, kid.
Cloud nods solemnly, not bothering to do more than glance briefly up at their eerie, distant view of the base of the gigantic plate, high overhead. Look at it too long, and there's that creeping vertigo to contend with, no matter how firmly your feet are rooted to the sallow, polluted ground. ]
Me? I do a little bit of everything.
[ And by the very, very faintly amused tone of his reply, he's noted the similarities in their professed occupations, at least. There aren't all that many regular jobs to hold down, in a place like this, though. Not unless working for Shinra is considered regular, and he's already been there and done that and got the hideous mental and physical scars to prove it. ]
no subject
He studies the plate, feeling a bit of that vertigo himself. It isn't right. People need him here. Maybe that's why he showed up here. Even if he wants to go home--wherever home is. With Garnet, maybe. Wherever she is now. Safe, hopefully.]
You, too? Then we'll make a great team. I can steal and fight, I'm an acrobat and actor, and there's not much I can't do if I try. [He's also an optimist, if that wasn't obvious by now.]
no subject
[ No offense. He's just got enough on his own plate, at the moment. Like blowing up reactors and being the most apathetic wanted terrorist in the history of the Planet, here.
Not caring so much just totally takes it out of a guy, you know. ]
Sounds like you'll do all right, here, anyway.
[ ALONE
Because Cloud is just that cold. ]
no subject
Ah, you say that now, Cloudy. But you haven't seen me in action. I'm amazing.
[He doesn't care what you say. He's sure there's probably a reason he met up with Ol' Cloudy. So Zidane is just going to
FOLLOW YOU
And you are not as slick as he is, he's pretty damn sure. Though really he should get the hell away from you, because terrible things happen when you're around. Not that terrible things tend to stop him from helping. Caring so much is a lot of work too, y'know.]
You'll be singing a different tune once you get your cut. You want more money, right?
no subject
[ And he'll thank you to correct yourself, young man
Goodness does no one respect their elders, anymore? Kids these days are runnin wild, growin tails and whatnot.
Also wow what's with the low blows, man. It's not his fault everything he touches dies. ...Well, technically it's more like 50/50, so Zidane's odds are probably decent. BUT STILL. GEEZ.
Enjoy the pleasant scenery as we cut through this extra cheerful train graveyard, though; you won't see many screens as difficult to navigate as this one
oh wait]And I do fine on my own, thanks. You're welcome to split any time you like.
[ He may be beginning to feel just a little unsure on whether or not the extra cash is really going to be worth having Chatty Cathy glued to his back -- and why is he even entertaining the notion in the first place!? Time to remember that you don't know anything about this kid, there, Cloud. ]
no subject
[Zidane says it with the same emphasis. Or maybe there's a little extra emphasis is going on there.]
Don't you have any nicknames your friends call you? Like Cloudy or Misty or Sassy or Grumpy?
[He's only teasing, in his youthful, rebellious, tail-having way. But what about adults? All grown up and serious and not having any fun or a sense of humor. That's no way to live!
Zidane will take those odds, and he takes the train graveyard in stride. After all, he survived so very many difficult to navigate screens and emerged more or less unscathed. Sorry, Cloud. Didn't mean to rub it in. At least you don't remember that yet!]
Then I'll split when I'm ready. But til then, I'll cut you in on the profits and you can show me around, show me the ropes. It's a win-win situation.
[Yep, so that's why Zidane is sticking by your side, gettin' your back, bro.]
