[Sometimes, most times, its hard for Shiro to see 'Champion' from outside. It makes it hard to focus on any positive about what he was once.

So when he sees Champion, he doesn't see the good the role might have done most days. Most days he just remembers the blood and the heat and the fear and the swallowing rage he was always fighting to control. Like the Garla tech that's a parasite in his arm - its something he tries not to think about.
Instead he focuses on his teammate and watching her do as he's asked, nodding a little as she moves each part and noting when things cause winces or don't move exactly right. And a part of him breathes relief because it looks like her back might just be all right. Her chiding gets a hum and a smile and he raises his eyes to her face.]
