Steampunk Meme

Get your airships and grab your goggles, because it’s the not-really-Victorian Era or the Wild Wild West, and everything is leather corsets and clockworks!
Steampunk is a subgenre of science fiction or science fantasy that incorporates technology and aesthetic designs inspired by 19th-century industrial steam-powered machinery, often set in an alternative history of the British Victorian era or American Wild West, in a post-apocalyptic future during which steam power has maintained mainstream usage, or in a fantasy world that similarly employs steam power.

Prompts:
1. Expedition into the Unknown - Twenty thousand leagues under the sea? A mapmaking expedition into the wilds? Airship over the misty mountains? A trip to the moon! Perhaps space—the final frontier—on a steampunk ship, in search of a treasure planet.
2. Airships! The finest technology of the past-future has brought you this beautiful cruise liner. Maybe you’re crew, maybe you’re passengers. Best to hope that no one named this ship Titanic. Or Hindenburg.
3. Let’s be Pirates - Airship pirates! The sky’s the limit. There’s treasure and plunder to be found.
4. War - You’re at war. Maybe you’ve always been at war. It’s you or them, whoever they are. Demons, aliens, or just people living on the other side of an arbitrary human border.
5. Wild Wild West - Giant robots, luxury trains with their own laboratories, weird gadgets, and crazy adventures. Someone’s probably going to get tied to a train track while a villain twirls his moustache.
6. Crime-solving - Or crime-fighting. There’s a murderer to be tracked down, in this murky, fog-laden world, this London of eternal night.
7. Obligatory Zombies Option - How did zombies and steampunk become intertwined? Maybe it’s just their mutual popularity, or maybe it’s the awesomeness of fighting zombies in corsets and with steam-powered weaponry. Either way, zombies. It’s happening.
8. Choose your own Steampunk Adventure - Airship racing? Battle croquet? There are hundreds of steampunk books and movies in the world. Discover atlantis! Defeat death! Invent a clockwork computer!

Write an introduction about who your character would be in a steampunk world, and possibly a prompt or two for what kind of steampunk adventures you’d like to have.

[When you have a username like this it's kind of a requirement to toss the dude at this meme. He's a member of the military, and very obviously stationed on an airship.]

[It was the dawn of a new age in Mariko's homeland. Ever since their reclusive country opened its ports to foreign travelers far and wide, exchanges of goods and culture has boomed. It was something that her family took advantage of, becoming one of the wealthiest families in the imperial capital city. Not that Mariko cared or was heavily involved in it. Mariko was sort of independent, and had big dreams of traveling the world outside her island nation. Seeing these massive airships at the docks has become part of her morning routine.

Just standing by the fenced perimeter of the port, Mariko did just what she had been doing these past few mornings. She watched the airships land, watching the crew come and go, and just let her imagination soar of what it could be like to be part of their adventures. She became kind of known among the workers in the port, as some red-haired girl who comes here every morning without fail, with a case in her left hand and some sweet snack in another. This day was no different in that regard, however she decided to change things up a little.

As the crew Afonso belonged in have decided to stop in for a night in town, Mariko took this opportunity to approach one of them. It was obvious who the military men were with their uniforms, and it was easier for Mariko to trust them. As the crew leave the port, Mariko sees Afonso and immediately noticed his age and how he's the most approachable person out of all of them, simply due to his less indoctrinated demeanor.]

Excuse me. Hey, you.

[Mariko is a young woman of a few words. She spoke loud enough for Afonso to hear her]

[He's a mercenary for hire, which means he'll fight your battles or deliver the goods or play bodyguard. ~~or dress in drag to sneak into brothels~~ Point is, if you pay well enough, he'll probably do the job. No questions asked. Because, frankly, he's not interested.

[ooc: I'm thinking for this AU Tifa is still running 7th Heaven, except in this setting it's a meeting place for adventures, pirates, mercenaries, and people looking to exchange information as well as a meeting place to set up deals and jobs as well as a bar. Maybe Tifa could use her connections as the owner to help get Cloud jobs? Their connection as childhood friends could also be kept or discarded. Whatever you prefer.]
