Close enough to spend time together, do things you both enjoy, eat together, talk about problems, cuddle, and kiss, possibly. And you don't do most of these things with other people. Okay. Okay, so maybe you are dating. But do you need to disclose this fact to everyone else, or at least acknowledge it amongst yourselves - If you even realize it, that is. It's possible this whole "a couple" status has snuck up on you. Theoretically, at least. ...how did that happen? Easy peasy: comment with those prefs and info, cuties. Reply to others. THREAD. ♥

Popcorn and movies are the best. Popcorn and movies with other people are even better, particularly when they are fun to hang out with and make excellent pillows. The last is sometimes a little bit of a problem when Pepper has spent most of the previous night out fighting crime or studying chemistry.

Not that using Avery as a pillow is a problem, but dozing off on their shoulder when they're supposed to be watching a movie together means missing the movie.

Too late. She's comfortable and tired and the movie is great but she stopped reaching for popcorn about five minutes ago in favor of letting her eyes close for an impromptu nap.

The movie's fun, and it's fun to watch movies with Pepper, because she always gets really into the movies. Especially the dumb monster movies like this one. And while she's normally giving Avery a run for their money in the popcorn-eating department, her popcorn consumption seems to have dropped off. A glance at their shoulder shows that Pepper seems to have dropped off, too. Avery considers nudging her awake, but actually, a nap seems like a good idea. They lean their head against hers and doze off, too.

Some time around when the credits start to roll, probably because it's suddenly gotten a lot quieter without all the fake screaming and dramatic music, Pepper starts to wake back up. She registers, vaguely, where she is and recalls that the person she's leaning against is Avery. They're still very comfortable.

So she doesn't move, except to yawn, and she keeps her eyes shut. "Mmph. What'd I miss?"

"Mmmf." Avery wakes up - grudgingly - when Pepper starts to stir. "I dunno. It probably ate people and got taken out by a nuke or something," they murmur sleepily. "That's usually how these things end, right?"

They close their eyes again. "You make a good pillow."

"Hm. Probably. Can always rewatch it some time," she replies, quiet.

Pepper smiles softly, wrapping both her arms around one of theirs. "Funny. I was totally just thinking that."

[witchcrap]

They chuckle when Pepper curls her arms around their own. "I guess we're on the same wavelength."

They lean their head against hers again, humming contentedly.

"Well, I guess that decides it. We're not getting up," Pepper declares. There's a beat. "I mean, eventually we'll probably have to, but, you know, later."

Like when the remaining popcorn runs out and there is a great need for ice cream.
