Nature is no respecter of persons, my friends. Whether it be childhood friends, newlyweds, or one-night stands, a single decision or accident can change everything, and there will be three people instead of just two.

Congratulations! The characters in these threads and those who reply to them are now expecting babies, no matter what their unique situation may be. Of course, depending on the characters, this might go over like a lead balloon. But wait! Even if the decision to have a baby was made and was consensual, the process is no walk in the park. There is lots to do...and only nine months to do it. Nine potentially drama-filled months.

HOW TO PLAY

Comment with your character, preferences, etc.
Not all options here are fluffy and happy. Some are potentially angsty or possibly triggering. Tread lightly. Be sure to mention what you want and what you don't want.

For this, male characters can get pregnant because why not.

PROMPTS

How'd It Happen: What led up to this event? How are you in this situation?

Realization: There's a wrench in the works...or maybe it was expected, but you're just realizing you're pregnant.

Positive Reaction: Yes, after all this time and planning! You're finally ready for a family.

Negative Reaction: Oh, no. This is terrible. You're in no position to take care of a child!

Freak Outs: But...how? You're a human, she's an alien, how -

Deciding What to Do: If this wasn't planned, there needs to be a plan of action now.

Keep it Secret: You're attempting to keep your pregnancy a secret from your partner. This is only a bandaid for the bigger problem.

Telling Others: The other people in you two's life have to know at some point.

Drama: No one wanted you to have a kid and the anger is palpable.

Morning Sickness and More: Everything hurts and the mornings are hell.

Learning: If you're in a technologically advanced society, you may get to see an ultrasound. Otherwise, there are folk remedies that can be tried.

Manipulation: One of you is using the prospect of a child to bend the other to their will and make them stay.

My Body is a Cage: The person carrying the baby is having a decent amount of discomfort, mentally and physically.

Showing: It's a secret no longer with an expanding stomach.

Support: The partner who isn't carrying the child should do their best to be there and help out...

Overprotective: ...but to a degree. Don't act like the partner carrying the child is made of paper.

Getting Ready: The house or apartment or castle has to be babyproof.

Heart to Heart: It's time to talk about the big changes before the happen. Where do the two of you stand?

It's Happening: THE BABY IS COMING.

Rough Going: Childbirth is still a dangerous affair and there's no smooth sailing for you. So pace if you're lucky, scream in the bed if you're not.

Bad End: Not all new beginnings last. Sometimes, they become unhappy endings.

Coming Home: Finally, parents and baby get to settle down.

Getting Used to This: Well, maybe settle down. There's still crying in the night, feedings to do, diapers to change...

[Oh hell yes I would. Prompts from the list I'd be interesting in doing is definitely Showing, Overprotective, and My Body Is a Cage. Are you interested in Sengoku Basara canon or modern canon?]

[We could start with Showing? And maybe develop to the other two haha. I was thinking about doing modern AU, but could do Basara canon if you prefer!]

[Showing works as a first one, and we can definitely do modern AU. Shinjiro makes a good hobo if you want to play around with that.]

Masamune had met Shinjiro when he got cornered in a fight and the tall guy helped him out. As a token of gratitude, Masamune invited the hobo to a dinner at his house, and his well equipped kitchen plus the shared love for cooking connected them.

Shinjiro showed up often and it was a fun competition to see who made the best dishes, at first. They slowly got comfortable with each other, and one day Shinjiro actually moved in. Some time passed, as well as some wild parties, and now it seemed they would need to tell people that they were having a baby.

"Hey. It's growing pretty fast, huh?"

"You have no idea."

He said with a grumble, trying to stand up from where he was sitting on the couch. Masamune had won him over incredibly fast. The well stocked kitchen, and the fact that they were living together... and quickly began to share a bed too, made it very easy for them to start having sex.

Shinjiro loved Masamune but he wasn't so easy about showing it.

A hand on the side of his belly, he rubs it while looking at him.

"This thing is killin' my bladder and my back. You can get pregnant next time."

"Next time, huh?" Masamune said with a smirk and an arched eyebrow. Shinjiro might not want to show his affection, but Masamune sees it in those small slips.

"But don't talk about our kid like that. Let's go to the bed so I can give you a massage.", he says as he gets up from the couch and grabs Shinjiro's hand to lead him to their bedroom.

"Y... yeah. Next time." He groans, rubbing his lower back as he follows Masamune to the bedroom. Shutting his eyes and groaning.

When they get in there, he sits down on the bed, removing his shirt. "Geeze... y'don't have to just keep rubbing my back every day."

"Hm. Your groans and complaints say otherwise.", Masamune retorts while warming up the massage oil in his hands. He kisses Shinjiro's nape before spreading the oil up and down Shinjiro's back, warming up his muscles to prepare them for the real massage. Then he starts running his knuckles in a curve starting at Shinjiro's neck and gradually going down his back. "Tell me if anything hurts or if you feel light headed."

"Shaddup." Shinjiro grumbles. Shutting his eyes, he feels Masamune's hands going down his back, forcing him to groan. It feels so so good. "Everythin' hurts... just keep goin'... if I cry out, you'll know I'm really in pain."

...Shinji, Masamune is concerned about you being in constant pain but he can't not smirk at that phrasing. "I know you like it rough, honey, but I don't want to make you hurt more than you already are."

He doesn't stop the massage though, trying to ease the tension at Shinjiro's back. "And what about the cravings? Do you have any requests for dinner?"

"...Ugh, shut the fuck up, asshole." Grabbing a pillow and throwing it back at his face. "Don't tease me." His face is completely red now. Masamune is a damn tease and he never knows what to do about it.

"...I told you I could still cook, Masamune. And I don't wanna be treated fragile. So tell me what you want." He wasn't stopping cooking. Even if he was nine months pregnant. He wasn't stopping.

Masamune protected his face with his arm and laughed. Sorry, Shinjiro, he isn't stopping anytime soon. He loves getting you flustered like that. "I know you love me anyway."

So cute but so stubborn. "Hey, I know you are not fragile but you could let me spoil you sometimes! If you insist, we could cook together, then. You make the main dish and I'll make the dessert."

"Yeah yeah. Shut up." He shakes his head. He lets Masamune get under his skin, but he certainly doesn't hate that one bit. It's playful, after all. But he totally smacks him with the pillow again.

"...Yeah, dessert is fine then." He shakes his head, "But just dessert. Don't touch anythin' else. Got it?"

This time the pillow hits Masamune's head and stirs his competitive ~~and childish~~ side. He grabs another pillow to hit Shinjiro's face and start a pillow fight. "Let's party then!"

"Yes, Mom", he says in the best imitation of a bored teenager. He will be watching you, Shinji. If you give off any signs of being tired, Masamune will take over. But for now, he'll just agree so you don't kick him out the kitchen from the start. "Now tell me what you are planning for dinner? I need to think of a dessert that goes well with it."

"Hey hey! No more pillow fights! Y'know what the doctor said about it!" He grumbles. Masamune seemed so excited to have a kid, so he has to remind him to behave.

Good luck with taking over, Masamune. He will cut you very quickly. "Steak with rice and veggies." Looking towards him. "Y'want any ideas or are you gonna prove how great you are?"

"You started it! But fine, I don't wanna hurt you or our baby." Yes, he is excited to have a kid. He can't wait for when he can start teaching it to ride a bike and pull pranks on other kids. Be prepared, mom.

We'll see that when Shinjiro is groaning about his back again. "Hmm steak, huh? A panna cotta with berries is good enough for you, Master Chef?"

"Yeah, cause you're bein' a shit." Shinjiro grumbled. Also no, no pranks. He doesn't care who you are, the kids not pulling any pranks on anyone and he will punish accordingly.

"Ugh, don't even start, y'damn asshole." He grumbles, "Help me stand up cause your kid is breakin' my back."

[It's the middle of the night and the little cottage they've been staying in for the past couple of months is quiet. Fenris is curled around the sleeping Hawke and all is peaceful.

Until a piercing wail cuts through the night air like a siren.

Fenris started awake, his muscles tense and ready to dart out of the room until his brain caught up and identified that his and Hawke's daughter was not crying because she was in any danger.

Silently he rolled over and got out of bed, making his way over to the craddle where little Leandra lay.]

What's the matter, small one? [His voice is a low whisper as he picks his child up]
