Steve's gone through three punching bags since Bucky's disappearance. There probably would have been more if Sam hadn't drawn him out of the training room, expression stern. He's not even sure how long it's been anymore - a week? Two? He wanted to go after him the second Bucky'd disappeared but he'd been persuaded by Nat (actually, she'd punched him to get him to shut up for a second) that chasing Bucky, trying to compel him to come back, that'd only make things worse.

Even though it was one of his nightmares come to life, if it was better this way for Bucky - though he's not convinced it is - he drops the surveillance, drops the tracking. Nobody thinks it's his fault - Steve can only hope Bucky realizes that, remembers they're his friends.

Until then, Steve's perched on the edge of his bed in the middle of the night, staring across the hallway into Bucky's room - though they'd started to just use the space for keeping up appearances to some extent and just to hold most of Bucky's things. Steve stays hunched over, and runs a hand over his face. Where are you?
