Second Chances Meme
When you were children, the two of you were inseparable. You used to play together, the best of friends. But at some point you were torn apart, or one of you moved away.
Since then, you’ve grown up and moved on. But you’ve never forgotten them. Your childhood friend, perhaps even your first love. Now chance or circumstance have brought you together again. You’re both adults, and you’ve changed so much. Will you get along as well as ever, or has it been too long? Or maybe, just maybe, there’s a new element to your relationship now, and this is your chance to explore that.
How to play:
Post with your character and preferences in the subject line
Write a little 'then and now' to give other people some idea of the assumed CR. What was your character's childhood like? What is their life like now? How have they changed? How might the two of you have met as children and how will you meet again now?
Tag around and have fun!

now he's... admittedly still spoiled, but he's nice. genuine. he ran in politics and lost and now he's just trying to find things that really, truly make him happy--and he's happy to make other people happy along the way, too.
he's still dumb though. so there's that.

Now she's taken after dad and grown up a lot. Still has money but now it's her money along with a couple of trophies. Works harder than anyone else and keeps trying to make it up to all the old friends she might have not been so great to back then.
They could've easily run in the same circles growing up and run into each other again?]

Dorian Pavus | Dragon Age: Inquisition | M/M and See below.
Willing to AU. Will tag cross canon, cross medium, and OCs as well as canon relations. If you want to play a close female childhood friend, that's fine. When Dorian was growing up, he had to hide the fact he was gay, and to this day he is highly flirtatious with women. I'm fine with playing that up. Just be aware it won't lead to smut, and if it seems to be going there, he will reveal the truth.)

The things he did for the Inquisition. Dorian moved through the crowd of masked Orlesians with his best air of superior indifference. He had two strikes against him from the outset. He was Tevinter, and he was a mage. He ignored the not so subtle digs in the conversations that flowed over and around him. Few were bold enough or socially suicidal enough to address him directly unless they sought to score a point. As much as the South liked to disdain his people, they couldn't know how alike they were in this regard. If it weren't for the masks, he'd feel right at home. How unfortunate.
At least the wine was excellent and the hostess generous in keeping it flowing. He hadn't been without a glass in hand from shortly after his arrival. Thus far he hadn't heard anything of interest or surprise, not that he was expected to spy. This was a prestige mission for a potential ally. She was afforded an Inquisition presence at her ball. In turn, she might be favorably comported toward them when it came to putting a good word into the right ear for a trade negotiation. Her nephew was also a mage she worried about. In sending a mage, the Inquisition sent a clear message of support for change, preferably without bloodshed.
He was aware of all of the implications. He was sworn to his best behavior, which meant he expected the entire affair to be deadly dull. They probably could have sent an expensive sculpture to the same effect. The one saving grace was that no one expected him to wear a mask. His face was unadorned save for his usual subtle and tasteful cosmetics and the perfect waxed curl of his mustache.
He was on his third pointless circuit of the ostentatious ballroom when he overheard a voice from behind one of the masks that stopped him in his tracks. Tilting his head, he listened harder and for the moment cared not one whit if it seemed rude or that he was trying to eavesdrop. He was, just not for the reasons some might suspect.
The man had his back to him, so it was difficult to tell for certain. If he was who he thought he was, he was broader, taller, older than he recalled. Well, why wouldn't he be? It had been nearly fifteen years since Mavros left Qarinus to return home to a fate Dorian had bitterly resented on his behalf at the time, a Circle mage, after all of his training. It seemed a waste. Yet now, the Circles were dissolved, and here was his old friend. He was quite certain of it the longer he listened. Not swept up in the rebellion, not bound to Templar rule.
Before he knew for certain he intended it, he stepped forward and slipped between two others in the small circle of conversation, directly in his line of sight from behind the mask. He said nothing immediately. He had no idea if anyone had ever made it known Mavros had studied magic in Tevinter. He was no ill-bred fool willing to thoughtlessly damage the reputation of someone he respected. No, he'd leave that decision to Mavros, to acknowledge him or not, or to signal that they could speak somewhere else more privately. Oh, but it was good to see him after all this time. He nodded pleasantly and gave a vague enough smile all around that he hoped he would seem nothing more than slightly uncultured by Orlesian standards and not directly focused on Mavros.

Mavros was so wrapped up in relating an anecdote of a particularly absurd love triangle misadventure that he didn't immediately note that newcomer as anyone in particular. No mask, certainly. That marked him as the Inquisitor's envoy, but sparked no recognition. The mustache caught the eye, and delayed, for a moment, Mavros' recognition of his childhood friend.
His gaze skimmed over the stranger, friendly but not particularly attentive, too distracted by the pair of giggling Orlesian noblewomen who were egging him on to continue the story.
And then it clicked. Delayed surprise tugged at his brows, and his attention snapped back, recognizing the familiar features matured into a handsome man. "Dorian!"
His delight was unabashed. In a room full of courtiers who doled out disdain more freely than approval, Mavros radiated friendliness and charm, excluding no one.
"Is it you?" Mavros pushed up his mask to reveal his own face. The same sparkling blue eyes, the same smiling red lips, the same blue-black Shahrizai hair wound into a myriad of tiny braids. "I hope you won't have forgotten me."
Questions crowded into his thoughts--you're who the inquisition sent? you're with the inquisition? how? why?--but he had the sense to keep them shut. Despite his reckless, playful demeanor, Mavros had skill and training as a diplomat, and didn't want to open a thread of inquiry that Dorian might prefer not to pursue while in the middle of the Orlesian nobility.
The attention of the little group around them refocused onto Dorian. Everyone went quiet, regarding Dorian with a judging curiosity that hedged against both politeness and friendliness without truly crossing into either. As Mavros' attention and pleasure went, so went the group: he was well-liked because he liked everyone, and--more importantly--because he was a favored nephew of one of the most powerful families of Orlais. No significant responsibility of inheritance fell upon Mavros, but he was close enough to the family patriarch to enjoy significant favoritism.

"How could I possibly forget?" His enthusiasm was infectious. "The years have treated you well." He looked him over while he had the opportunity. Yes, he knew that face, and he had fond memories of their unlikely friendship. Mavros had the rare gift not only of being liked but in making others want to like him.
"Now, please," he continued, this time including the others in his words, "don't deprive your company of the end of your story, or I'll never be forgiven."
Unspoken but implied was the fact there would be plenty of time for them to catch up at his leisure. He had no intention of leaving Val Royeaux without taking advantage of the unexpected opportunity. He felt some of the scrutiny ease as attention began to shift back to his friend. He sipped from his glass and began to look around the ballroom for a likely place to converse that would afford a touch of privacy.
The walls had ears. He began to think of what they could discuss and what should be saved for another time. There were aspects of Tevinter culture that wouldn't go down well in such society. Not only did he have his friend to consider but also the reputation of the Inquisition. Outwardly, he seemed intent on listening to the anecdote. If the Orlesians around him sensed his distraction it would only rouse their curiosity further and make escaping them more difficult.

"Now, if you'll excuse me," Mavros said. He pinched the ass of the well-dressed young noblewoman who had pressed herself up against his side, earning a giggle from her and more laughter from the group. Extricating himself from his immediate admirers, Mavros stepped forward boldly, clasping Dorian by the front of his shirt, Mavros tugged himself forward so that their chests were flush. He was a couple of inches shorter than Dorian, and his grin up at Dorian said that he was definitely into that. "It's very important that I flirt outrageously with an old friend."
Mavros was ready to be politely rejected, and his playful demeanor allowed him the constant possibility of taking rejection without the slightest offense on either side. But he thought that Dorian might wish to speak privately, by the way that he had glanced around, and Mavros was more than happy to manufacture that opportunity. This way, he knew, not a single person in the room would think amiss of Dorian's absence. Mavros knew the exact sort of knowing laughter that happened in his wake.
Where's the inquisitor's envoy?
Mavros dragged him off.
Ohh. Lucky bastard.
People expected mirth and flirtation from Mavros, and he obliged to a degree that most of society thought that he was made up of very little else. A few of Mavros' close friends and family knew that he was capable of being sweet and thoughtful, and of those only a single one of his cousins knew that under everything he hid a lonely heart. But, at least, he wasn't so lonely when he was the center of attention, and when people laughed and liked him, and fell--male and female--into his bed. That was good enough.
Mavros knew of a quiet antechamber just off the main room where they could exchange a few quiet words, and if Dorian wanted more, his residence wasn't far away. Tugging Dorian by the front of his shirt, because it comically perpetuated the idea of Mavros dragging him off for sex, Mavros led the way.

[Between "then" and "now", was a shut-in due to the death of his younger brother for a little less than a decade. With help of family, kicked his own ass to try to get out again. This may come up in the thread.

Kise Ryouta | Kuroko no Basuke | m/m if shipping
He liked planes and reading shoujo manga with his sisters.
The Kise family, however, was very private. Even at a young age, Kise was very picky about who he considered friends. Wary of those who just wanted to have a famous/pretty friend, or trying to use him to get close to his eldest sister. He could be friendly, but distant, or he could extremely hostile depending on the situation. And he broke off more than a few friendships because he felt like he was being used. In fact, he has no friendships from before middle school because he broke them off, some of them probably rather cruelly.
Now as a teenager, Kise is still picky about his friends but is gradually loosening up and being less judgemental. Finding friends who actually care for him has helped a lot. He still likes planes, but basketball has become his dream job, and he's very good at it. He's very loving (or clingy) to those he considers true friends and adds -cchi to the end of their name to show that he respects them, though many wish he wouldn't do this. There are exceptions, like senpais.
To those outside his circle of friends, he's more often friendly in a polite way. He can be still very blunt when if he feels like someone isn't respecting his space.]
