The PREDATORS Meme



You wake up in the middle of a steaming jungle. You don't know where you are, or how you got there, but there's an unfamiliar sun in the sky and all signs suggest that you're not in Kansas any more. You need to survive; figure out what's going on; and maybe, just maybe, find a way to go home. There's just one problem.

Something is hunting you.


Prompts

1. Consciousness to sarcasm in five seconds. Rise and shine, you've just woken up in the middle of nowhere with no idea how you got there. On the bright side, you're not alone. Get to know your fellow victims contestants. Maybe you can even figure out what the hell is going on.

2. The road to nowhere. Have fun trudging through the jungle. How long 'til someone notices that it's been daylight for about 48 hours now, or that there's the wrong number of moons in the sky? Kiss your worldview goodbye.

3. Cry havoc! The hunters have set their dogs on you. Their deformed, alien monstrosity dogs. Do you run or fight? Work together or leave the others to their fate?

4. On a scale of one to "fucked"-- One of you is injured. Maybe it's fixable, or maybe it's fatal. Does the other choose to stay and help, to leave you for dead, or to put you out of your misery...?

5. Let's hope they last the night. Night has finally fallen. Time to find somewhere to hole up, grab some shuteye, and hope nothing sneaks up on you in the darkness. Sweet dreams.

6. The great escape. Here's your chance - whether by skill or luck, you've found where the hunters have set up camp. Think you've got what it takes to fly an alien ship? Of course that's assuming you live long enough to get inside. Maybe you should come up with a plan b, just in case...

7. But you've always been here. Congratulations, you're not dead yet. You've evaded the hunters for long enough that they've apparently assumed you starved, or fell into a swamp, or maybe they've just plain lost interest. And now there's fresh meat on the planet - a new batch of game for the hunters. You could help. The question is, will you?

8. Wildcard.

And perhaps it is his own fault for getting them upset in the first place, but it was all for the better of Planet Earth and his new friend.

He turns around on his feet, and he looks to make sure they threw off their followers. And he then turns his head to John, and he takes in a deep breath. "I think we should be good for now, but you need to get some reset. But I wouldn't sleep for long, the last thing we need is for them to catch up to us."

None of the answers to her questions really mattered when the demon-hounds were hot on her heels.

Maybe, if she could find water, she could throw them off her scent, but there was no time. Crashing through the treeline, she raised the sickle over her shoulder, and turned to face the beasts...

The Maguuma Jungle is no place to be alone, probably not ever but especially not now. It's an expansive wilderness full of all sorts of things that can kill you--there's the hostile Zintl tribe, the tigers, the chak, the mushroom bombers, the stoneheads, the smokescales, the flocks of pocket raptors that swarm like little single-minded nuggets of death. And of course there are the Mordrem--the minions of the great jungle dragon, Mordremoth.

No one in their right mind would try to brave the jungle alone.

Kyinnlen is in his right mind, which is why he knows that it's far too dangerous to be out here and why he's doing his best to make it back to the rally point where he hopes his friends will all be waiting. Being out here alone was never supposed to happen.

There'd been a wyvern on the plateau up near the canopy--the conflagration of its breath turned the earth beneath them molten, the blast of its wings knocked grown men off their feet. They'd held their ground for as long as they could, but in the end the company had no choice but to scatter. Now they had to regroup, make sure everyone was okay, and make sure next time they'd be prepared.

But every moment they are separated is a moment of risk: Mordremoth will not suffer those who oppose him to survive here for long.

This is what Kyinnlen is thinking as he tries to find his way through the maze of undergrowth. It's what he's thinking as he spots the strange slightly-built figure there ahead of him.

For a moment he knocks an arrow, but almost as quickly he checks himself--this is clearly no Mordrem guard. In fact he's not sure what to make of the young man. He certainly seems ill-equipped for the jungle, that's for sure.

"You there!" He calls out just loud enough for his voice to be heard, but not so loud for it to carry far or alert whatever might be lurking nearby. "Are you out here alone? Are you injured?"

Captain's Log
Stardate: 1413.5

While on a routine exploration mission of a planet in the Delta Vega system, the away team encountered a strange energy signature on the planet's surface. Before it could be investigated, the entity enveloped Captain Pike and both of them disappeared.

Pike came to on what seemed to be another planet's surface. The terrain was a muggy jungle, unlike the rocky surface of Delta Vega. Pike struggled to his feet, finding his communicator still on him but his phaser was nowhere to be seen. He flicked open the antenna, trying to contact someone. "Pike to away team....Pike to away team, come in...."

How far had he come? Was he even in his own reality anymore?
