the weakness meme
the weakness meme We all have that little thing that either turns us to mush, or is a temptation we can never resist, or something that totally leaves us vulnerable for exploitation. Whatever it may be, we can either enjoy it or despise it, or maybe use it as a strength if you're clever enough. Below, you can roll for a type of weakness and/or a role to play, or make up your own scenario based on canon, fandom, or anything, really! NOTE: Depending upon the weakness, the situation, and other factors, there might be some triggers. It is advised that you plan ahead or look into the tagger's journal so you know what their preferences are (and to have more insight to the muse!) make sure to put names, series, & preferences somewhere! you can use < ! > sans the spaces to make the comment "blank" oo2. reply to others in character oo3. use the rng and enter 1-6 for a type then roll 1-6 again for a role oo4. play out what happens—anything goes! oo5. profit? oh yeah! |
type one → silly it is nothing harmful at all, but someone might be tempted to tease you about it. two → guilty pleasure okay, so this one can never be found out. i mean, a love for trashy romances? really? three → annoying ...isn't it just annoying that you can't seem to life anything heavier than a kitten? four → vulnerable this weakness is a big one that you try to hide. because someone could really use it against you. five → dangerous if anyone found out this secret, they could nearly destroy you. or worse. six → secret thank goodness no one knows about this weakness. right? role one → victim you're the one with the weakness, sadly enough. great. two → abuser oh, be creative with someone's mind and vulnerability already. three → confidant you know their weakness, and are doing your best to keep it secret. four → soother you know their weakness... but you're a good guy. you're there for them. five → innocent bystander you didn't know anything, but that doesn't mean you can't be hurt. six → weakness sometimes a person is a weakness. that's you. |

No one had died, at least, and Derek is more than aware of how pathetic that silver lining is. He unhunches himself from the uncomfortable stool in the surgery after a few minutes of watching Scott breathe and shuffles quietly out of the room. Even his footsteps sound tired. ]
Still here? [ Derek shouldn't be surprised, but he is -- figured Stiles had excuses to keep and would have disappeared back home after assurances Scott was okay. ]

A tired sigh, his hands running over his head, and then he looks back up at Derek. Getting out of the chair isn't happening anytime soon. There's a bone deep exhaustion he doesn't feel like admitting, at least not aloud. All the werewolves actually did something- and what did Stiles do? Almost nothing.]
Obviously. [And that's really all the snark he can manage.] He's my best friend.

Well, the mood, but also wolfsbane laced bullets leave holes that ache long after they've closed over, and Derek doesn't have much self-enforced vertical left in him. ] Doctor said he'd be alright. The unconsciousness is to be expected.
[ And then, because Stiles really looks like he could use it, Derek adds his own bit of assurance. ] His breathing is better.

I just- [there's one very frustrated growl, obviously directed at himself. Mostly because Stiles is just staring straight ahead.] - I wish I could do more to help. [It's like even when Stiles tries to he ends up making everything worse.]

Something about the situation makes Derek laugh, a short bark of noise that is very, very wrong. He bites it off quick, wants to pull it back out of the air the very moments it's out. It's just... what the hell does he know about helping? Everything he's done up to this point has been a joke. ] I don't think we could make it worse, so there's that.
no subject
That laugh will make Stiles glace over at Derek. That's... the first time he's heard Derek laugh, and it was an honestly awful sound. There's nothing happy about it- not that there was anything good about the night.]
At least there's that. In a night full of everything going completely wrong, at least it can't get worse. [His head is right back in his hands.]

[ It's unclear even to Derek if there's a thread of positivity in that statement, or if he means fresh opportunity for further disaster. Probably not -- he's not one for glass-half-full pointlessness. He closes his eyes, more a long blink than an attempt at rest, then shakes exhaustion's hold on him with a roll of his shoulders. ]

[He closes his eyes and keeps them that way. Just breathe.
He's pretty sure Derek means that tomorrow will probably be just as big of a mess as today is. Stiles hopes not, but at the rate things are going? Totally plausible.]
A fresh opportunity for disaster, right?
no subject
He steps closer, arms crossed defensively low across his abdomen. On any other day he wouldn't care, wouldn't have time to care, but the sadness weighing down Stiles' slumped shoulders is a distraction from his own internal angst. ]
Did something else happen?
no subject
His fault. Everything that's happened to Scott, that's on Stiles. If he hadn't dragged his friend into the middle of the woods they wouldn't have to deal with this. His dad would still have a job.]
... Yeah. [At least he can admit that much.]
no subject
There isn't anything in the vets office to kill, anyway. ] Anything I need to worry about? Starting to feel like I'll be needing all the advance notice I can get.
no subject
No. It's my dad. I doubt you've got anything to worry about from an ex-sheriff.
no subject
And when it does hit, Derek can't help the long, vicious sounding sigh or the hand that scrubs furiously over his face and through his hair. Because that does worry him. Stiles might not be his friend, and the sheriff most definitely was not his friend, but there was potential in the connections linking them all, and having Stilinski as a possible future ally was promising. ]
Shifting power is always dangerous, Stiles. What happened?
no subject
The worst part is Stiles couldn't have avoided any of that. He needed to do all of it. Everything he tried to do was to keep people safe. And all of it failed in the worst possible fashion.]
He was fired today.
no subject
It's the worst when they're family. Derek almost apologizes, catches himself before the words can get past his tongue. He's always hated empty "I'm sorry"s, has heard to many of them to add to the pile. Instead he stands quietly for nearly a minute, thoughtful and a little sympathetic.
Then: ] You want a ride home?
no subject
Thankful, he's thankful that Derek didn't offer a sorry. It wasn't like the words could change anything.
He'll get up and nod.]
... Yeah. I could use it.
