[It had been a very nice day so far. Cool and a little bit rainy, which is why Veronica had opted to stay in and do some reading. She had initially thought the scratching coming from the vents was the wind....but then she looked up and there he was.

Well, at least she knew better now?

She closes her book hurriedly, making her way over to see if he needs a hand with getting out.]

All right. [Explain, Akiyoshi....but after she helps you get unstuck.]

I thought that--

[He pauses abruptly, slipping down a little too fast for his liking, only for his cloak to get stuck and keep him from dropping to the ground headfirst. That could be dangerous.]

Auugh! [He's terrible at this.] A-anyway, I thought that the fox was visiting today.

[Which probably explains nothing and everything.]

[She gasps, immediately going forward when he slips down, arms reaching up to catch him, intending to cushion his fall.

Fortunately for him, his cloak saved him from squashing a princess. Still....they really need to get him out of there before he hurts himself. She reaches up to do just that.]

Fox? What does a fox visiting have to do with your being in the ventilation shaft?

[That explains absolutely nothing...]

I had to observe him, just in case something happened.

[Because Yue is dangerous is the unspoken words, but there's probably no bigger threat to someone's safety than Akiyoshi to himself.]

I was looking for a suitable place to observ-- [Slipping down even more gdi this was a terrible plan.]

Him? A fox? [She's so confused, but that could wait for later. He wasn't safe where he was.]

[Jump down and let her catch you in her arms like this is some kind of incredibly cliche shoujo manga.

Sure, she's smaller than he is and not that strong, but she evidently thinks this isn't going to end in tragedy. Someone come and save them both.]

[Never mind, let the tragedy begin. Goodbye Veronica, hope you don't break anything as he slips down and crashes like a broken airplane.

That loud R I P is the only indication of his now destroyed cloak.]

[Veronica doesn't even get the chance to ask him what a "foxm" was because, of course, she tries to catch him. She can't let him fall.

At least she manages to wrap her arms around his shoulders before she gets the breath knocked out of her, hitting the ground with the full weight of another person on top of her was not fun at all. Tightening her grip around him for balance and because she had severely overestimated her own strength, she coughs weakly, shifting to find a part of her that didn't hurt.

[It wasn't exactly soft and squishy, but the ground shouldn't be this warm either. Which means the obvious, and that's what makes Akiyoshi freeze on top of her. A smart and logical move is to apologize and get off her, maybe even help her up and check for any damages since he's gone out of his way to flatten her.

He isn't quite that logical, and booksmart doesn't count when you're socially stunted like he is. Instead he just... freezes. On top of her. Like an idiot.

Really, he's sorry. Maybe.]

[Veronica can't roll to the side like her body is telling her she should, to curl up and will everything not to hurt, especially not pinned to the ground by someone else. Her second thought is that perhaps he's hurt and as soon as she gets her voice back (even though it's shaky), she addresses him.]

...Akiyoshi? Are you all right? Are you...are you hurt?

[She cards her hands through his hair then down over his neck slowly and a bit worriedly, checking for damage and trying to get him to look at her.]

Akiyoshi?

[And that snaps him out of it, and he recoils immediately. Crap. Crap crap crap.]

I'm sorry! I should--

[Check for wounds? Damage? Get arrested??? Actually, no he'd never think the last one. He's done weirder things than this but anyway. He scrambles off of her and offers a hand to help her up, burning completely red. Too red. It's mostly covered up anyway.]

[Veronica doesn't get to ask him what he thinks that he should do, her question lost in the scramble for him to get off her and to help her up. She winces a little, but otherwise seems to be fine, even if she holds onto his hand for just a moment longer as she makes sure she can stand without help.]

[He's red....why is he red? Embarrassment? Her free hand touches his cheek.]

Are you certain that you are all right?

[Because he's Akiyoshi and he has all the issues in life that don't matter. Not really.]

I'm fine! [He insists, even sounds a bit panicked because he actually like Veronica and does not want her to hate him ever. Even if it means that apparently he has to enter her house illegally to make sure that Yue doesn't visit. Look, logic doesn't quite work when you don't really pay attention to social norms.]

Are you okay? Does your head hurt? Should I bring a doctor to you?

[She would never hate him because that's just the way she is. What she will do though is frown as he continues to insist that he's okay. It isn't that she wants him to be hurt or anything, but it's clear that she's worried, unconvinced and unwilling to contradict him.

But she's going to keep an eye on you, Akiyoshi! And if you so much as look injured!!!]

I am. My head does not hurt and I do not need a doctor. Though my back is a little sore, I will let you know if the pain does not pass.

Now...may I ask why you were in there? It is quite dangerous.

[As was evident by him crushing her by accident.]

[He will fret forever and tomorrow you will get a heckton of painkillers. It's not as if he was free of blame. Maybe.]

And by Foxmask you mean...Yue? [Yue had a fox mask....so she thinks she's probably making the right guess here.] But what is wrong with trying something funny? [something funny actually sounds like fun??]

And why come in through the vents?

Trying something suspicious. [He corrects, because he's sort of understanding how Veronica misunderstood that. He would've misunderstood the same way. It's a vexing word choice, he thinks.]

He's a dangerous person, and you don't know what might happen if you just let him in! The vents is a good place to catch him off-guard.

I see. And what would you think of as suspicious? I have never found him particularly dangerous.

[But then again when does Veronica ever find anyone suspicious. As far as she's concerned, everyone is a pure angel.]

And surely he would have come in from the front door? Or perhaps the window? [You know, like most other people would have. She's not judging Akiyoshi on his choice though. He's totally free to crawl through vents if that is his entrance of choice.]

He's good at hiding his dangerous side, but I assure you that he and his kind are extremely dangerous.

[Not that he has proof here. Just. Gut feelings. A lot of it, even if it doesn't work here.]

It's exactly because of that that the vent is the perfect place. He won't suspect an ambush from here.

[Because while she doesn't want to doubt him, she also doesn't want to just shut Yue out of her life.]

[He blushes outright at that because-- 'I believe in you.' The truest keywords to make him happy. No one ever believes him even if he says the truth, and the fact that this came from a ~~crush~~ friend(?) is even better.

[Also now he might use this time to remember he is indeed allergic to pollen and dust and will just ruin the moment by sneezing. A lot.]

[He starts sneezing again and she almost recognizes it from when they'd first met and he started sneezing up a storm because of his allergies. Did she have anything that could help him?

She scurries off for a tissue box, pressing it into his hands as soon as she gets back, going a bit further and seeing if she can get him to sit down.]

Akiyoshi, are you all right? Do you need water? Do you have medicine, perhaps?
