You barely remember your own name, much less why you're here...or where here is, even. Your own body is strange to you, and if you have some kind of power or ability, that must be frightening. Perhaps you're angry at everything so new and different, lost in this strange world you don't understand or know your own place in. Maybe you feel the need to hide away, lest you be crushed by everyone out there who is sure to hurt you. You are so, so alone. Only you're not. There is one person, one person who's found you and taken you in. They've shown you kindness, looking after you while you can barely look out for yourself. Out of the goodness of their heart, they've shown you things, taught you things. Most importantly, they're giving you a new sense of identity. And for that, you've begun to appreciate them. More than words can say, actually. You care for them so deeply that your heart hurts around them. Is that normal? What is this feeling? You can't imagine life without them, and leaving them- That's something you could never consider. Is this lov... The word's on the tip of your tongue, but you can't figure it out, exactly. What you can figure out is that you want to give everything you can to the person who's done so much for them. You want to stay by their side and make them happy. You want to protect them at all costs. So no one would blame you for getting confused when you see them with someone else or getting angry when you believe they're in danger. And certainly it's only natural for you to get frustrated when you want to tell them what you think of them, what they mean to you, and you can't figure out what to do. Perhaps following instincts will do? One thing you know is that this bond and these emotions will never go away, not even when you learn who you are. RULES - This meme is for examining what happens when someone with no memories, potentially someone with powers or skills that could be dangerous at the very least, develops deep feelings for the person who's taken them in or is helping them realize their past. It can be played as awkward, adventurous, tragic, cracky, fluffy, truly romantic, or anything in between. You can play at the beginning, the part where emotions have strongly developed, or even when the amnesiac has regained their memories and must now deal with new feelings. - Reply with your character and preferences. Mention if you'd like to play the amnesiac, the caretaker/help, or both. - The role of caretaker does not have to always be beneficial. Maybe they caused this condition in the first place so the other character would be dependent, loving, and loyal towards them. - Reply to others and play.

[Getting a phone call at an odd hour of the night tended not to mean good things, especially when it was coming from Aunt May. 'Oh god, something happened to Peter,' he'd thought instinctively and never in his life had he wanted to be wrong so badly. Fate wouldn't be so kind as to grant that wish, though. Peter wound up in the hospital and Harry's heart remained lodged in his throat for the rest of the night. What happened to him, no one really knew. Whoever dropped him off hadn't stuck around, but he was awfully banged up. Was it that second job? Was it Octavius? He suspected Octavius would have made it obvious, rubbed it in somehow if it was, but Harry couldn't be sure. His mind ran amok with possibilities while he and May waited to see Peter.

And just when it seemed like it couldn't get any worse, it did.

Peter's head injuries were severe enough that he had no memory of who or where he was, and that was heartbreaking to see. Where there had been warmth there was now just confusion. No recognition, no cheeky smile or sarcastic remark about how he was fine and they were just worrying too much. Harry did his best to present a warm and welcoming smile whenever he visited, trying not to let all of his sadness and fear and guilt bubble to the surface. Peter wouldn't be able to reel him back this time. Harry had to try and be the rock.

Harry and May agreed to take turns looking after Peter so he wouldn't be left by himself when he was released from the hospital. Oddly, when Harry went to call Peter's second job, he couldn't figure out where Peter was supposed to be bartending at. But frankly, after this-- he couldn't give two shits if they fired him for not showing up. He was absolutely spilling the beans on that secret as soon as it was appropriate to do so. This wasn't worth the extra money.

It ended up being Harry who dropped in to pick Peter up and take him home when the hospital released him, what with May being held up at work. If it had been anyone else, May probably would have dropped everything and did it anyway, but Harry promised that Peter would be home safe and sound. As always, he made good on his promise.

Before long, Harry's town car was pulling up next to Peter's house.] Here's your home, pal. [He moved around to open the car door for Peter while his driver took Peter's bags.] Your aunt should be home in a little while, but for now, you're stuck with me.

[He was trying to tease, to seem friendly and not scared out of his mind for his best friend. Making Peter feel comfortable was the most important thing right now.]

[Matt hadn't liked sharing his secret with Bucky, but it had come in handy after a particularly long night he hadn't come back to his apartment. Ever since being back in New York, knowing that Matt was the Devil of Hell's Kitchen, it had prompted Bucky to check on him almost every night. From a distance, and generally he just tried to wait for Matt to come home, but...he hadn't. That had prompted Bucky to look for him, fearing the worst, and sure enough he had found him bloody and bruised on a rooftop. He wasn't sure how long he had been there, but it had been long enough for there to be a small pool of blood under him.

Getting him back home undetected had been a struggle, especially since the sun was rising by then, but once they were in his apartment he was quick to stitch him up wherever he could. Overall there didn't seem to be life threatening injuries, nothing that he couldn't fix with gauze and stitches, so he had figured he'd be okay. The bruises and any bruising or broken ribs would be healed with time, and Bucky was determined not to leave him alone while he recuperated.

Matt hadn't been okay, though. The first time he came to, he couldn't recognize his voice. He had tried to give him the basics - his name, who he was, reminding him to take it easy - before Matt fell asleep again.

He didn't remember him. He didn't remember anything, and Bucky could feel something twisting inside of him because he knew damn well how that felt like. And, because he knew it, he tried his damnedest to be there for him. To help him as much as he could. He didn't mention how he got hurt, or the fact that he was Daredevil, but he tried to fill in the gaps as much as he could. It was the least he could do, after all, considering Matt had been there for him when he lived through something similar. Besides, it was temporary. Bucky had dragged him to the hospital to get checked out, and after dodging some questions the doctors ventured the guess that once the swelling in his brain went down, his memory might start coming back.

Once they're back in the apartment, Bucky watches him for a moment before speaking.]

He was bleeding from a head wound, though he wasn't sure how bad it was, and the rest of him was bruised and beaten, but he was alive. Alive, though he had no idea where he was or why he was there. In his pocket he found a flip phone with a single number in it. He hit the dial button and waited as it began to ring. ]
