There was alcohol involved, music and cooking as well. Though if this was Napoleon's original intent, it was probably hard to say; even harder still when he couldn't really tell either. Any reasons for not doing this were scattered around the room with pieces of discarded clothing. Maybe everything had been building to this, rather than some other, bloodier confrontation. Jackson had ceased questioning it at some point between the elevator and door. Sometimes fate and fools collided into something everyone but you saw coming.

Eighteen years melted away, sensory memory super-imposing itself over the events in between. Any hesitancy he's had in that other motel room where dreams were born and died disappeared in the intervening years.
