BLOOD PLAY

CLUB id is looking a little sinister tonight. Thudding, bass heavy music plays over the speakers and the lighting is even more dim than usual. CLUB employees wear very little -- or nothing at all -- as they mingle among the guests and sharp eyes will spot tattoos and piercings of all kinds on their bodies. They carry trays of the usual house shots in glimmering glass tubes in all shades of the rainbow. Their desire enhancing effects are free to all.

Less sharp eyes are needed to spot the marks and mods on the bodies of the naked men and women bound up in elaborate rope harnesses and suspended around the room for all to see and explore.

The main stage is occupied tonight by a tattoo artist who appears to be almost inhumanly good at what she does. Anything your mind can envision, she can place on the skin... yours or someone else's.

The Wishing Well room tonight is decked out as a piercing parlor with multiple piercers and a vast array of possible ornaments to place anywhere you choose. The rest of the rooms are open and available as always, just with a pointier bent than usual. Even the Oasis is sporting some new thorns...

could you put this behind a cut? the picture & content could trigger some people

The sad part is, if I understand correctly, what with posts being moderated, the original poster might not even be online to see this and rectify it.

Apologies. We did submit this a few days ago and my co-mod isn't actually on at the moment but I'll ask her to put the cut tag in when she gets on.

Sorry for failing at proper pictures for memes again. I really didn't think a cut that small would be a problem, but I don't have that trigger so it's hard for me to judge. I should have erred on the side of caution. We'll try to do better next time.

i just know that i've seen pictures with cuts even smaller and less bloody, and people have still said it can trigger them (real trigger, not whatever people use trigger as now), so i just don't want people to come on and have that happen to them

We definitely don't want to trigger anyone. We're trying to make a place for people to play out the more potentially triggering types of kinks, but we don't want to do it at the expense of anyone's feelings. We may start posting our meme links with no pictures at all just to be safe.

People dramatize and exaggerate the shit out of everything here. It's absurd that they're are screaming "triggering image" apparently on behalf of purely hypothetical people somewhere in the world.

Unfortunately, that's basically the population you're dealing with here. They can't cope with anything even vaguely unpleasant. You're going to have to err on the side of completely and 100% vanilla and G-rated to keep them happy, so you should probably just put everything behind a cut to be safe.

To participate around here you just have to deal with the stupid expectation that the internet should be everybody's safe space.

I honestly thought that picture would be fine, but again, I don't have that trigger myself so I guess I shouldn't try to assume for anyone who does. We'll just go text only for our memes in the future to avoid any potential problems.

Being picky, mind putting the title outside the meme and everything else inside - or at least explaining what the trigger warning is for before people click the cut?

Okay, first off way to exaggerate. I've been a cutter, I've been admitted to hospitals for cutting. So I'm speaking from experience.

Yes, blood and cutting can be a trigger. But this is also a meme site where often things of that nature come into play. If people who really do have that severe of a problem can't handle this content, why the fuck are they here when A LOT of smut memes have it anyway?

Why do we have to err on the side of caution when people can't just adhere to their own problems?

I'm not saying cutting isn't a problem and that people should just 'deal'. But I'm sure going to an active place that has content in general that could be triggering isn't helping them.

i haven't seen many smut memes with pictures of blood or knives before now tbh and i've been posting around here for a couple of months. handcuffs, yeah. people doing it up against a wall. or no image whatsoever, just a list of options that are easy enough to scroll by. so...no, i wasn't expecting this.

also people don't always adhere to their own problems because that's the fun thing about mental illness. it comes in swings and roundabouts. glad you were able to bootstrap it up, tho! gee, why don't the rest of us go ahead and fucking end it already.

It was not at any point necessary for you to say anything on this post. It wasn't necessary for you to do more than close the tab on your browser, scroll past, or look at the image long enough to ad block it.

You're also acting as if there isn't any help out there. It's not like you have an incurable disease. Is it hard? Yes, but if your problem is that severe, again why would you be around a site that has explicit material including knives and blood?

people don't need to "grow the fuck up" the internet is dangerous, yes. but bakerstreet has a rule that states not to use any nsfw images. nsfw can mean tiggery images as well, because for some people they are very upsetting. you can't judge someone based on their trigger or expect them to just "deal with it."

of course, the internet is a place where a lot of unexpected stuff happens and images like this pop up at random times ( such as tumblr ) but bakerstreet should be a place where people with triggers don't have to feel like they have to be guarded because they're going to see something that upsets them. just because you may be having cutting problems doesn't mean they're not more sensitive to this stuff than you are.

and your remark about "pg tv?" well, pg tv doesn't show someone cutting themselves or images that can give upsetting ideas. though, most people with triggers tend to avoid the shows that they KNOW there will be violent material

Squick is a slang term denoting repulsion or revulsion at a specific topic, subject, or material at hand.

Discretion advised is what professionals use in specific categories to warn about material that may be discomforting, too explicit, shocking, or and/or traumatic to viewers/audience in general, reminding these viewer audiences that they should exercise personal judgment on whether this material would be safe/comfortable for them to ingest.

Learn to guidance ratings.

I like the setup and that it doesn't actually overlap a huge ton with TLH because of it. There's some bugs to be worked out but it's got promise.
