The DARK AU Meme


One thing or another went awry, and your character is no longer on the side of the angels. Whether it's through brainwashing, a loss of faith, or just plain wickedness, the draw of the dark has proved much stronger than the call of good.

I N S T R U C T I O N S

1. Post with your character's name and fandom in the subject line! If you already have a dark AU for this character, this would also be a good place to link to any information about it.

S C E N A R I O S

1. Interrogation - someone from the other side has been captured and brought back, and it's up to you to get them to spill. Maybe you're just the best person for the job, or maybe they're somebody that you used to know. Either way, it all depends on you making them talk.
2. Reconnaissance - you're deep behind enemy lines now, keeping your eyes and ears open for anything useful you might come across. Take care you don't get caught.
3. Double Agent - maybe you're still secretly good but you're in deep with the baddies, or maybe you've never relinquished your inner wickedness but you've convinced the good guys you've changed. Make sure no one finds out your real intentions.
4. Brainwashed - whether through hypnosis or deceit, you've been convinced this is the side for you. But here's someone from your old life - maybe they can talk you out of it?
5. Defection - "I've been a fool!" You've seen the light and you're coming over to the good guys ... but is your contrition genuine?
6. Kidnapped - Either due to a mistake or the cleverness of the other side, you've ended up in their clutches. Just pray they don't have truth serum ...
7. Showdown - It's the final face-off. You against your arch-enemy. Only one of you can walk away from this, and you're determined that it's going to be you.
8. Punishment - you've fucked up. Maybe valuable information was lost or you let someone important get away. No matter what it was, it could mean defeat, and it's time to pay the piper.
9. Victory - You've won! The other side has been completely subjugated and you're planting your flag in their headquarters. Sounds like a chance for a celebration.
10. Defeat - ...or not. Everything went wrong and you've found yourself begging for mercy from the people you tried to kill. Hopefully they'll be more merciful than you would have been ...
11. Pick Your Own - combine, make up your own, have fun!

[ It's been a week since Bruce and Steve agreed to try and turn their backs on this. They've been quiet, but for Steve quiet has been the status quo. Since turning he's done little and said less, a bitter reclusive thing in the shadows simply trying to accept what he can and ignore what he cannot.

He's endured because he can't leave. He refuses to abandon James to death again, even if it's clear he's willing to construct a family of his own. He's willing to do a great many things that Steve has laid witness to himself. It's one thing to kill. It's another to watch someone become a predator, a wolf amongst sheep, and enjoy it.

He can't. Even if it means starving. Blood bags became a viable option thanks to Natasha, ever the pragmatist, but this schizm between them is growing larger. As he delves deeper into research, offering Bruce his blood and following what leads he can, he becomes even more withdrawn. What he finds has to be kept hidden, and he hates it, because it gives the whole affair the stink of betrayal.

He'd like to think James would understand why he's doing this. But he can't risk it. Not yet. ]

[ jim smiled when they slid him into the police car, calmly requested his own personal lawyer when he was offered his rights, waited for the man to arrive with a freshly dry cleaned suit for him with all the trimmings and his explicit directions for how to conduct himself. but jim moirarty is far from unfamiliar with the police force and how they handle criminals of his caliber. the moment his name was uttered he could feel the slimy hand of mycroft holmes going to that little red riding phone of his and making all those important, big man calls to the authorities that had him. he'd already gone a few rounds with the elder holmes though, it was time for a bit of a downgrade.

suited and hair put in its proper place he felt more himself. the smirk came back, like the grin of a serpent, all lips and a darting tongue to most his lips every step of the way to the interrogation room. he had his little bird tell him just who would be conducting the investigation and it made him show a fox-toothed grin before agreeing to go along without the bar associated yes-man on his flank. because you see, he and dci luther were well acquainted.

he preens a bit in his seat as he waits for his good detective to come give him the once over, eyes darting between mirrored glass and recording switch from time-to-time. jim's a master at spinning words into webs of gold, but how much would anyone want of their own corruption on tape?

he gives that nearly wicked smile again when luther enters the room, settling into his seat with cuffed hands placed on the table. a greeting. a warning. ]

[ Something had come over Jeyne in the nighttime. Something dark and menacing, which spoke words of wickedness to her as she slept. She did not think to question her sudden change in morals -- simply because there was no room for it. No room for doubt. As if someone reached into her mind and switched it with someone else's.

She needed to get out of here -- that was an easy conclusion. Spending so many nights in Robb Stark's bed, her newly decided enemy, brought a shudder to her shoulders. Jeyne thought to escape during the night -- the sun would be rising soon, so she needed to leave now. Quickly. When, hopefully, no one would notice.

On her hasty exit of grabbing her clothes and leaving the tent, however, she did manage to knock a golden cup onto its matching golden plate beside it, creating a large and annoying clank, which resonated throughout the tent, with a piercing cry. Jeyne cursed her luck, and looked behind her to see if Robb was still asleep.

Not that it mattered if he saw her or not, exactly. This would just be a confrontation that would surely hurt her in the long run. ]

[ Allison thought for sure that the bite was going to kill her. In fact, she prayed it would; if the bite killed her and she died because of Derek, that meant that her father wouldn't have to kill her. He wouldn't have to lose both her and her mother within the same week. He wouldn't be left with Gerard as his only living, breathing family.

But it doesn't give her the satisfaction of an easy way out. She doesn't get to die a noble death while trying to avenge her mother. Instead, she gets to turn into the monster her family's hunted for centuries, the one thing that her father seems to actually fear, even if he doesn't let it show.

She knew this might happen someday, but she'd always expected to think of herself the way she views Scott; strong, independent, stable. She always thought she'd be able to accept what she was and live with it, to find some way to keep her from killing anyone, to not hate herself with every fiber of her being. And yet, when she starts to come to in the middle of Derek's batcave, she can feel the rage and the hate running through her veins just as easily as she can feel the toxin there, the reminder with every beat of her heart that she's a monster now.

The operation is... risky and absolutely fatal at best.

[ It made sense really. With the adjustment, the soldiers would become ten times as strong as the average human, but would overload their systems and kill them within three days. A perfect 'no loose ends' killing machine, but virulently inhumane and a direct violation of the Hippocratic Oath. With bated breath, the doctor glanced back down at the man, swallowing. ]
