Masked, I advance.

The { MASQUERADE } Meme

Paper faces on parade
Masquerade
Hide your face so the world will never find you...

Is it your friend's annual Halloween party with a twist? Perhaps you're an international spy, trying to find out the best way to steal the Crown Jewels. Maybe this is part of Spirit Week at your high school and you really wish that your classmates would be more creative next time.
Elaborate Venetian, playful animals, dazzling supernatural creatures - whatever type of party it is, the night is young. Have fun.

This is not a RNG meme. Your characters' role and situation is entirely up to you. "But how do you play?" you might ask. It's as simple as 1, 2, 3!
1.) Post with your character. In the subject line type of your character's name and canon. If you'd like, in the comment section, you can describe what mask/costume your character is wearing and even include preferences (shipping/smut/gen).
2.) Tag around! This is a party after all, and your character can't find any of their usual crew behind their masks (or maybe they can and need to tease them mercilessly for their choice of costume).
3.) Profit!
First person to drop the chandelier buys drinks for everyone!

Empress Celene : Dragon Age : OTA
An actual royal court, quite possibly her own, is the most likely setting, but can definitely play her in some sort of modern setting if anybody's interested. Dress and mask will pend the setting, s'yeah. ]

Rupert couldn't resist a party. Certainly not when it was a fashionable party, and included the opportunity for masks. Convenient, while he was still on the run.
Dressed in a very handsome dress uniform for the Ruritanian military, Rupert's mask was white and gold. He looked the part, which he was, of a young and charming nobleman who had earned a respectable rank in the army.
He might be wanted in Ruritania, but he didn't expect to be recognized here. It was a party. He wanted to enjoy himself and find some charming, attractive person his own age to seduce.
There was one in particular who had caught Rupert's attention.
Catching up a pair of champagne goblets, Rupert brought them over and offered one with a bow. "It seems such a tragedy for someone so very appealing to be standing alone. Perhaps I may remedy that situation."
jfc this is gorgeous, and so is Rupert!
And why shouldn't he? Hans was, after all, celebrating! He'd managed to sneak off the boat back to the Southern Isles after the little debacle in Arendelle, and now he was at a party where he could meet any number of princesses. The night was his. All it would take would be one girl, and he'd be sure to stay away from sisters.
Plucking a blue and silver fox mask from the table, he fixed it over his face. It covered the top half and gave him a slight muzzle, crafty eye holes, and wild ears, but it left his full head of red hair on display, as well as his slim, handsome mouth and fine, royal jaw. With a fresh white suit 'borrowed' along his way and his usual trappings adorning his person, he did certainly present a lovely image. He'd been hoping to work his way to the lovely fair-haired girl at the far end of the court, but instead found himself face to face to a champagne goblet and a man bowing to him.
Thankfully, the mask hid the way heat crept into his skin. "I wasn't hoping to be alone for long," Hans said, putting on his best smile and inclining his head as he took the flute. "Thank you, Prince...?" Because if he wasn't a prince, he wasn't worth Hans's time.
These two idiots are totally both going to try and scam each other and it's going to be hilarious
They were far enough from Ruritania that he didn't expect that the old family name would be recognized. Rupert absolutely felt confident to try and pass it off as a sovereign country. Haven't heard of Modenstein? Oh, it's right near Switzerland. North west. Little bit east. Kind of central, really.
"And yourself?" Rupert asked. He was hoping, like Hans, for power and influence, anyone he could bend to his ambitions, but Rupert was also more than happy to spend his nights with stable grooms and barmaids in between the dukes and princesses.
it's nothing short of a taste of their own medicine xD
In this part of the world, he was sure no one would have heard yet about him. Or at least, he was praying that was the case!
"Modenstein, was it?" he asked. "Have we done business in the past?"

"I don't believe so," Rupert said, with a charming smile. "Surely I would have remembered trade negotiations with someone so handsome." He took a sip from his glass and then gestured to the ballroom floor. "Do you dance?"
sorry this took so long x.x
He glanced to the dance floor. It was full, and while at normal parties maybe it would be unheard of for two men to dance together, but from what Hans could tell, there were already several same-sex couples there. He considered the beautiful, royal-looking lady at the corner, then thought better. Maybe, given his recent experiences, he should try for a prince instead of a princess.
"With you? Gladly." He offered his hand, planning to take the lead.

With only a slight hesitation, Rupert allowed him the lead. He wasn't accustomed to surrendering a lead, but with a competent enough dancing partner, he quite enjoyed it. It had been so long since he'd not had the lead in dancing that it made him slightly nervous, and brought a slight flush to his cheeks.
He forced his body to relax into it, following Hans' lead as they moved around the floor. Rupert was an excellent dancer, technically skilled, though he made a few minor errors by occasionally forgetting that he was not leading, which caused the slightest little stumbles or tension as he tried to go one way while Hans was leading the other.

Things with Anna had been so easy...until they no longer were anymore, and that had put Hans off his game a bit. In one night, he'd proposed to her and she'd accepted - merely a few hours mirroring her every whim. But his pride had been damaged since the events with the Ice Queen, and so he figured, flattery first, here. This man was obviously good looking, poised, smart. Hans wouldn't have it so easy, he didn't think, with him.

His teeth drew very slightly over his lower lip, wondering if Hans could 'dance' so well in bed. "Are you lodging near here?"
no subject
No.
Hans schooled his expression. "I'm only passing through, to be honest," he said, leading Rupert in an expert turn and then pulling him a little bit closer than necessary. His body felt like a work of art under all those clothes, and Hans was itching to peel the layers to get to it. "I had hoped to stay with a friend, but..." He laughed. "I don't know. I don't quite want to let you go to talk to them."
He really hoped this panned out, because seriously, he had no lodging. Barely any money left. This could end badly.

Well, that was unfortunate, since Rupert had likewise been hoping to secure lodging by seducing someone convenient. And it was odd, he thought, that the prince had laid no plans in advance.
But Rupert was willing to let his ambitions slide, for a night, if it meant the chance for debauchery with this handsome prince. "I've a reservation at a hotel," he lied, all irresistible charm, the same charm he planned to use to make good on that lie. "If you'd like to retire there."
Rupert licked his lips, giving Hans a shameless grin.

He felt stupid that his last tryst had left him so anxious. But if you fell off the horse, you had to get right back up and try to ride again.
So, Hans chuckled and leaned in. "I'd be very pleased to retire with you, Rupert."
no subject
Rupert hesitated a moment, considering all the options. His fingers lingered over Hans' arm, and he caught his new paramour's hand, leading him out the door. They caught a cab in the street, which took them to a glamorous hotel.
"Come along," Rupert said, lifting his chin. He hooked his arm through Hans, making idle conversation as they walked up to the counter. Then he detached, all confident grace as he spoke to the desk clerk. "Prince Rupert of Modenstein. I believe I have a reservation?"
There, unsurprisingly to Rupert, wasn't one.
The desk clerk looked again. Rupert smiled, awkwardly, and glanced back toward Hans to give him a reassuring smile. Just a bureaucratic error, of course.
Still no reservation. Rupert of Hentzau? Of Ruritania? No?
Rupert was seeming increasingly embarrassed, though still making a visible effort to remain polite. All of it was an act.
His steward had made a mistake, certainly. How could this oversight have happened? Was this the right hotel? Yes, yes. More embarrassed glances toward Hans. Well, where were they supposed to stay? Perhaps the desk clerk could check the incoming telegrams? There should have been one. It must have been misplaced.
No, of course he didn't have any of his luggage. It had been sent ahead! Wasn't it here? Well, where was it?
After some more of this business, the embarrassed desk clerk, who wanted only to pacify the clearly important and noble guests in front of him. Perhaps he could offer them one of the finer suites that was available. This would no doubt all be sorted out in the morning.
Rupert accepted graciously, showing flustered relief and gratitude. Was he sure? It wasn't any trouble? Well, if the hotel insists...
