why have you come?
1. You're searching for someone. A relative, a friend, a ~~dead~~ lover. Someone has led you to this quiet little town.
2. An accident. You got lost in the fog, the roads fell off into chasms, you thought you saw someone in the road and crashed. Time to venture farther in for help.
3. Returning visitor. You've come here before, to the lovely little resort town, and had a beautiful time. But this second trip will be different.
4. An escape. You're running from something ... or someone. A crime you committed? Grief? Too bad you ran to the wrong place...
5. Wildcard, or make up your own!

what horrors do you encounter?
1. You just met. You've only been able to find each other, no one else in town. Stores are deserted, doors are locked, silence is everywhere. What happened here? What's going on?
2. A shuffling in the night, the fog, or in a tight dark hallway of an abandoned building. A strange creature is moving toward you. Maybe humanoid, maybe not. They can be powerful. They can be slow. They can vomit acid. Time to pick up whatever plank, knife, or gun available to you ... if you both want to live.
3. A dark secret from your past is returning to haunt you. It manifests in hallucinations, the town reaching deep inside your mind to paint the surroundings in grotesque symbolism. Yet, the other person can't seem to see what you see.
4. The walls are peeling away. Or maybe you got knocked out and just woke up to an entirely different kind of town. There are chains, rust, fans, orange light, splatters of blood. A horrific version of what used to be around you. Welcome to the Otherworld.
5. That other person with you--you see them as someone they're not. Someone from your past that you loved or feel bone-wracking guilt over. And no matter what they say, that they're not, they're someone else, you just can't help but see...
6. The town has driven you insane. The monsters, the guilt you may carry. It's all coming back to you. You need to lash out. At anything. At anyone.

[ Let's start this out easy. ]

[So Cross has come back to Silent Hill after all these years. He came here with his family way back when he was just a kid. But now, he's coming back by himself. Why? Well he's heard the place has fallen into disrepair and wanted to check it out himself.

When he comes into town, everything is empty. No one seems to be here.]

Helllooooooooooo! Anyone out there?!

Get...back here...wretched girl...

*She'd come to him in the fog, mocking him, certainly not in the form of a cursed imp that he was sure she had been the last time he laid eyes on her. Midna in her true body. And then that insufferable brat had run off, leading him further into the fog. Despite the power that was granted to him, he was a sorcerer, no athlete.

Zant trailed off, still furious, as he slowed to a stop, slumped over so low that his helmet almost grazed the ground. But he could barely walk, let alone run. And the fog was all around him, the buildings half-visible through it unfamiliar and alien.*

[Simon was gone, but she found letters from him. Letters too new to be from before he had... Before he had left. He wrote them in their code and it had spelled out 'Silent Hill' so she came looking for him.

After all, he would do the same for her.]

for the life of him, ethan can't quite remember why he's here anymore. he remembers rain, remembers pulling shaun from the dark water and listening to him choke back to life, remembers starting over in the sun.

he's looking for jason, though, isn't he? not shaun?

he's stopped for the moment, resting his feet on the edge of an abandoned bus stop bench, gazing into the fog. he came to find jason and he can't leave until he does; it's just like before, just like with shaun.

there's something wrong with that. he can't remember what. ]

[ fischer's A$4000 suit is dusty and disheveled but at least it's kept the cold out. the fog is bitter, bonechilling, like it is in winter in london, and he's called and called but no one is here.

he doesn't remember how he got here. is this a dream too? if it is, it's the worst one yet.

the town is much too quiet for his comfort. ]

(there's someone there, someone fumbling and calling out for people that he knows. what driver decides to stop in this hellhole for gas and then disappears. the car is broken, it's cold, fischer is miserable and the only way out is to call someone.

that is if he wasn't in a dead-zone. he swears, the moment he gets out of here, he's building a cellphone tower everywhere.)

Hel- (his teeth chattering from the cold-) Hello? Is anyone here?

[Shinjiro doesn't know why the kid would've have come here. The place isn't exactly welcoming. It's surrounded in thick, cold fog and the town itself seems like it's hours away from dying. He wonders if he should have so easily trusted the tip of a complete stranger, but then again he hadn't had much of a choice. Something in his gut told him he didn't have time to waste, didn't have time to double-back to the Dorm and wait for a solution that wasn't guaranteed to come.]

[ the voice ringing out through the colorless day, obscured from sight, sends robert whipping around in the direction of a dingy service station silhouetted in the distance. he is still not at all the expert his teammates are, so his shoes scratch a little too loud over the asphalt as he tries for a stealthy approach. the closer he gets, the better he can make out the shape of a man's back. ]

...Hello?

[ it sounds the same. that's when robert immediately reels back, when he really sees him, his own face, and fumbles for the gun he arrived with. ]

What the f—wh... No, stay there. Don't—don't move.

[ he swallows, heart thudding against his ribcage, gun unsteady in his outstretched grip. ]

Who are you?

[ Well, isn't this place pleasant? Not that he can say that, but he's frowning at their surroundings. Is it worse or better than the outer world? Who knows? ]

[ will play during ww2, as still-russian-controlled winter soldier, or modern day confusion. indicate preference if desired. ]

for the moment, the man in black sits quite benignly on the curb just off of vachss road, as though he'd just come up from the forest before the lake.

that's all he's doing, actually. sitting. like a hung up coat that's fallen on the floor. ]

[as pleasant as Silent Hill ever gets. he's frowning too and takes a cautious step forward. it didn't look too bad, creepy fog aside, but the only way to find out if it's better or worse is to look.]
