Who doesn't love a good carnival? The sights, the sounds, the...well, maybe not so much the smells. Going with your young siblings? Maybe you're taking your date for a good time! Maybe a friend dragged you along. Whoever you're there with, the important part is that you're having a good time! Find some rides!

1. The Midway!
Oh god, you want that stuffed unicorn so hard, it's just so incredible. Or perhaps you just want to show off to everyone else how AWESOME you are. Test of Strength? More like...Test of....Getting Owned With a Hammer. Whatever the reason, you're slapping down your cash and winning those games! ...If it's possible to win, that is.

2. Haunted House
PFFT! Who's scared?! These things are never that scary! ...Are they? That...That's not a real mummy, right? What was that sound?! ZOINKS!

3. Ferris Wheel
Did you ever wonder what the carnival looks like from such a high place? Or maybe you just want some alone time with your date. Do you find yourself thinking that this is a lot higher than it looked?

4. Fun House
What's so fun about it?! It's impossible to get through this stupid Hall of Mirrors! Agh, this tube is spinning, how can anyone stand up in this thing?! Wait, isn't that the same way you came from?!

5. Tunnel of Love
Awww, yiss. You're lookin' for a little bit of alone time, even if you are in a tiny, bird-shaped boat surrounded by shallow, dirty water. Or maybe your friends shoved you in before you had time to react. Have fun, love birds!

6. Carnival food!
Cotton Candy, corndogs, popcorn, ice cream, candy apples...! It's all so terrible and bad for you, but it tastes so good! You don't even know what that over there is, but it's deep fried and looks delicious in the most disgusting way. Be careful that you don't make yourself sick!

7. Petting Zoo
CUTE ANIMALS! You want to pet all of them! Or maybe the person you're with wants to. Though, whether the animals really want to be petted or not is another matter.

8. GRAVITRON!
Standing inside a giant ring that’s spinning at high speeds with no restraints. Yes. This is a good idea. Somehow. Hope you didn’t eat first.

9. Working
You’re not having fun because you’re WORKING here. Somehow, you got roped into this. Maybe you LOVE working here! Or maybe you’ve had enough of being in the dunking booth or wearing that doofy animal costume. Maybe your friends won’t laugh too hard at you.

"I got no idea how you talked me into this," Frank complains, a bit unconvincingly, as he swipes the BB-gun from the stall and takes aim at the bottle targets downrange. Thing is, his kids had loved the Carnival, so he'd been all set to avoid it like the plague this year (and every year after it), until Matt got that stupid yearning look plastered all over his face and. Well.

It's actually turning out to be easier than he expected. He thought he'd hear Lisa in every little girl's giggle, that the ghost of his son would stare up at him out of every boy's face. It's what happens when he walks through Central Park, when he happens to pass a school as it gets out—it's always there, following him. Reminding him.

He thought he'd see the dangers lurking around every corner, guns tucked beneath people's coats (he's got two, himself), waiting for them to come out and turn everything into blood and meat and bones. Again.

But all he can hear is Matt's rambling about whatever. His laugh and the way he seems to have tucked his own darkness away, for a little while. Maybe, just maybe, Frank is starting to figure out how to live in the present again. Maybe it's just a fluke and it'll all be back to normal any minute now, he doesn't know. Instead of questioning it, he aims for the smallest targets in the back and works his way back up to the bigger ones, pinging BBs off of everything marked in his path. He plans to get enough points for one of the truly obnoxiously large stuffed animals. "I'm pretty sure this is cheating, considering I'm an actual expert marksman."

[ The ferris wheel! The best part of any carnival! Well - second best, after the petting zoo - or maybe third after the food? Anyway, Anna has read about them a million million times but now she's actually going to ride one! She's practically vibrating in her seat with excitement, looking out. They've lifted a few meters off the ground already, just to let more people on - it's busy, so people are having to group up. Anna doesn't mind. She was on her own anyway, Elsa having gracefully bowed out of this particular attraction, so sharing one of these pods with another girl is fine by her. ]

Have you been on one of these before? Does it normally take this long?

[ It hasn't been five minutes yet, but it feels like hours to her, biting her lips in an effort to hold in how she's so excited she could explode. ]

[How, exactly, had he gotten into this mess? Bracken was not the bravest of men - heck, one could call him a coward and he wouldn't argue it. He had only gone into the haunted house because he was a follower. Other people were doing it, and they seemed to be having fun, so he went in.

But then other little groups broke up and he was left alone inside. He didn't know where he was, and it was dark and scary. He was too embarrassed to force himself into any group. Instead he desperately tried to find his way out without causing anyone trouble.

Which ended up with him huddled in a large room in the middle of the house. Chains squeaked as they swayed slightly, hanging down from the ceiling. The room was reminiscent of a prison, with lots of bars, cages and torn sheets. With his back to a wall, he glanced around timidly, holding on tightly to a staff. Perhaps he would be easily looked over - just another scared person in the middle of a haunted house - but by the time Masaki arrived he was finally willing to compromise. He wanted to get out, so he watched which way the other man went and quietly trailed after him.

Unsure how to introduce himself, he spoke in a weak voice as he stepped after him, reaching out towards him with one hand as he desperately pleaded for help.]

D... Do you... Do you know the way out?

[Not much more intimidating than a mouse. Maybe even less so, since mice startle a good amount of people. However, he stayed a distance from the other man, afraid of stepping on his toes. Maybe he'd be abandoned, but he didn't want to get too close unless his company was accepted.]

[ Oooookay. So. It's a haunted house. It looked like fun from the outside - all purple and green, the kind of spooky you might expect from a Scooby Doo cartoon. Anna, exciteable Anna, rushed in enthusiastically - except now she's in here, and it's dark and there are noises and it's not what she expected at all. ]

Not scared... not scared...

[ She's muttering the words to herself under her breath, and even then her voice feels perilously close to breaking. Just... walk slowly... duck under a canopy of fake spider webs... slide past- oh god it moved. She shrieks at the top of her voice and before she can stop herself, throws a punch at what her brain for a second tells her is a terrifying monster about to murder her to death.

Except it's not a monster. It's a person.

The colour drains out of her face and immediately all thoughts of fear vanish. ]

[ So it turns out Anna is better at those shooting games than she thought! Okay, so it's probably a mixture of her sheer gung-ho and the fact that the guy at the stand might have maybe recognised her as a princess that resulted in the veritable armful of toys she's now struggling to carry around. From stuffed unicorns to plastic waterguns. She can't imagine why the guy was so desperate for her to move on - surely he's had to restock before! - but now she's wandering around with her haul, wondering what exactly she's going to do with it.

It hits her the second she spots her first little kid. She can give it away! She had the fun winning it, so apart from the crown of plastic sunflowers now sitting lopsided on her head, she can just give it to the people!

It's not exactly the grand gesture a princess should be making, but she's not thinking about that. ]

[ She stoops down a bit to stop the child with the cute fluffy hair, and does what she can to hold out her armfuls of carnival stuff. ]

[Natsume had only been in the dunking booth for nearly half an hour, having been convinced to take his friend's place so the other boy could have a chance to grab something to eat. He'd been reluctant, but thankfully the only person to try dunking him had missed the target enough times that they'd given up in favor of finding something easier that gave more of a prize than soaking a teenager.

His relief was short-lived when he spotted the head of the Matoba clan wandering in his direction. Nothing good could come from him being around, and it probably meant there was an ayakashi nearby he was after. Unfortunately for Natsume, there was nowhere for him to hide when he was up on a bench, dangling over a glass case of water.]

[Who has two thumbs and dragged took Mirage to the carnival today? This Windermere girl. This was a day where Freyja wasn't going worry about heavy stuff like the state of her planet, the consequences of wars and all of those painful things. She was happy enough that she found a reason to sing, so it was a good step forward... Right?

With all that aside, Freyja is happily petting an alien looking sheep. She never seen something like this on her home planet.]
