Bruised. Beaten. Stabbed. Sapped of energy. Tricked. Mentally played and abused. Perhaps you've even seen your home world destroyed, depending on how Homestuck you are. Any way you slice it, characters go through a lot of crap.

There's nothing wrong with wanting to see them get pampered and taken care of when they're ailing. In canon, they may not have someone who can provide them with care when they're injured, support and love when they're sick, and physical intimacy all around. In this post, AU or other scenarios can provide them with a caretaking partner of their very own (or, maybe, someone to take care of, if the reverse is their preference). So, for once, weary traveler, you don't have to carry that weight all by yourself.

to bring you out of the darkness;

The injury may not be a temporary physical or mental one, however. Some characters suffer more deeply, even if they don't know it. Darkness covers their hearts, they're withdrawn, insecure, angry, or lonely. They need someone to reach out to them and show them unconditional love.

This post can provide that, too.

Whether it be the cliche and shameless "changed by your love" trope or something more subtle like getting someone to open up, the characters here can offer that and more. All are welcome, they just have to take that first step.

[Salim looks after Nate and Sully as they ride away from Iram, guiding them through the desert and back to Aden at a pace their weary bodies can take and provides them food, water and shelter when they rest for the night. Part of Nate thinks to himself that he'll never be able to repay the man, but must try anyway; the rest of him is more concerned with getting back to Elena. It's been what, nearly a week now? He can't imagine what she must be thinking right now. Whatever's gone wrong between them, whatever he's done, she doesn't deserve the uncertainty of wondering whether they're alive or dead.

When they finally trudge up to her apartment to knock at the door and she flings it open, the only emotion he can identify out of what looks like a hundred passing over her face is relief. The rest are unreadable to him, or maybe it's just that pushing so far past his physical limits has caught up with him at last, and fatigue has clouded his mind. He leans on Sully as she ushers them inside, and after sitting down, he mostly lets his best friend fill her in on what's happened over the last few days. The story gets interrupted when he blacks out for an instant while sitting on Elena's couch, which results in the elbow he was leaning on slipping off his knee and the glass of water he was holding splashing all over him.

That's when Elena and Sully declare that he needs to sleep for real. Nate doesn't have the energy to argue with them, and even less to protest when she guides him to the bedroom. Crashing in his own wife's bed shouldn't feel so strange, but then, if they want to keep talking without him, it's probably better that he doesn't start snoring in the middle of the living room. Either way, he barely manages to take off his shoes and crawl under the covers before he's out again.]
