It was over. Finally it was over.

Zoom was gone. Jesse and Harry had gone home to help the other Jay Garrick and Barry was utterly exhausted. Scraped hollow. He'd been betrayed, had his speed stolen, fought to get it back and nearly died in the process. He'd watched his father's murder.

So when Michael brought up the idea of getting away for a couple of weeks, he'd agreed instantly. The others at STAR Labs had all but pushed Barry out the door when the idea had been mentioned. They could watch over Central City. Barry needed time to rest and time to heal.

The cabin by the lake was perfect. Barry doesn't know know Michael found it, but they can sit on the old wooden dock and soak in the sun, swim in the water and just be. He can't sit still long enough for fishing, but he can sit beside Michael and rest his head on his shoulder as he casts his line.

"Thank you."

[ When they boarded the yacht, Steve said, 'This isn't a vacation, folks.' Bucky said, 'What's a vacation?' And Sam said, 'I still brought tequila.'

They're surrounded by the ocean and its sounds; the sea breeze rustles everything on deck. And here they are, sipping on ridiculously strong margaritas Sam blended and watching the fishing poles set up against the deck's railing as though they're indulging in some escape cruise-- instead of sitting topside on a state-of-the-art undercover Wakandan rig specially equipped with every imaginable piece of search equipment to facilitate the finding of whatever caused the satellite anomaly that blew the minds of T'Challa's top scientists earlier in the week.

Most of the brains figure it was an alien craft that slipped through some dimensional rift. Truth is, nobody knows, yet. But they're going to find out.

As he flicks the little umbrella out of his margarita and sinks into his flimsy, squeaking plastic chair, Bucky marvels at how blase he's become to the words 'dimensional rift'. The sun is low on the horizon, but it's still bright enough to make him squint as he looks out over the vast, shimmering expanse of sea. It's a gorgeous sight he can't get enough of, and it feels good to be outside and so far away from crowds you could almost forget to look over your shoulder every thirty seconds. It feels good to get some sun, and he's enjoying the mild burn of the tequila even if it's not likely to get him buzzed. Natasha seems to be enjoying herself, too, and this could probably be considered something like team building- if they were actually a team ... and if either of them were speaking instead of just taking in the sights and subtly side-eyeing one another from time to time. Buck figures since he's the one who tried to kill her multiple times, it falls upon him to break the ice - or chip away at it a little, anyway. ]

So, speaking of anomalies, where the hell are the fish? I'm starting to think this thing we're after killed them all.
