She understood, though, having to consider the worst. It's not like they could really ever guarantee that a job would be easy, and she knew full well what a mistake it was to assume that nothing was ever going to go wrong.
Best to consider those sorts of variables in order to be prepared even somewhat. Being too compliant could lead directly to disaster.
Rey might be a bit slower to get up, but she does, grateful for the assistance, content to keep the offered hand and to continue the teasing. "I'll even get your back for you."

They -and Han- had often joked that they always needed a couple extra days added to the timeline of any job, because apparently two Force-users on the same job made things go wrong in one way or another, even when they were mostly going right.
no subject
Strange how that worked out! But despite the unexpected setbacks, their jobs usually went off without a hitch. There was simply no anticipating everything that might go wrong!

He shrugged, "I mean, we could always do it after that, too, but usually by then we're already on our way to start the next job." Or at least to make some quick credits at the nearest mixed port, and Ben was just waiting for the day they could get Rey into an actual Sabacc tournament, considering how easily she already outplayed him and very nearly matched Han.

Not that she needed much convincing in the first place. He could tug her into their little blanket nest at any time, and she wouldn't be likely to find reason to complain. They've go to find time where they could between job and ... procuring funds, and that wasn't always easy.
Somehow, they always managed. And somehow, that felt just right.

And it was mostly just to rinse off anyway, he'd worry about actually cleaning up later, if they had someone to impress, but definitely wasn't going to worry about anything more than getting the sweat off now when there was a nap on the horizon.

But she was laughing, so clearly, she wasn't truly offended. She just wasn't expecting the sudden little shower of droplets. "Get in, so I can squeeze in with you." A few minutes under the spray should clean them sufficiently. Longer showers could wait - naps didn't roll around every day.

He did, however, make sure she had as much room as he could give her, shifting a little so that he wasn't blocking the entire shower, even going so far as to slide it up to a higher angle so that it could get them both.
no subject
She watched as he made room for her, and even as he maneuvered the showerhead high enough to ensure that it would rain down on them both. And when he seemed sufficiently pleased with his work, she stepped inside. "Is that why you keep me around?"
no subject
He shook his head even as he went about wetting a washcloth to run it across her shoulders, "Nothing at all to do with the fact that you make me laugh and can still kick my ass nine times out of ten but still let me win sometimes anyway, and that you can usually tell before the diagnostic just what's up with the ship and do you want me to keep going? Because I can."
no subject
She quieted then, humming softly, enjoying the warm water, their continued closeness, and especially the reasons that Ben listed off for keeping her around - sweet and funny all at once. She's touched, it's clear in her eyes when she lifted her head to meet his own, it was clear in her small, satisfied smile. "No, do keep going on. I'd love to hear more."
no subject
He shook his head, not even bothering to bite back the smile, "And how many languages do you actually speak? I lost count somewhere around six, and I'm pretty sure you understand more of them than you can actually speak." That was how it was for him, and for most people, he suspected.

And then Ben continued, and Rey couldn't help the way her shoulders shook with her ever-increasing laughter, nor the way she had to gasp out her words, eager to get them out instead of waiting. "I was really hoping for - 'because I really like you', or something equally as sappy."

She grinned happily, and leaned in in order to steal a kiss, too. "Ben Solo, did you know that I adore you?"
no subject
He did step away from her then, as much as the space would allow, knowing he'd get distracted again otherwise, "Not that you like it, I mean, but at least you shoot back."

He leaned past her to pull a towel off the shelf, wrapping it around her shoulders and rubbing gently, "C'mon, I think someone was promised a nap."
no subject
All part of the job, she supposed, but mostly, she didn't want to see any harm come to Ben, ever, because she absolutely cared about him. Teasing about it, though, seemed more par for the course, rather than just coming out and saying anything. But it worked for them, and that's what mattered most.
"Yes, we do have that nap to look forward to. I must warn you, though, I fully intend on laying all over you."
no subject
"All over me?" He replied, brow arching even as his face was half-hidden by his own towel scrubbing over his hair, "I mean, you can try, but you don't take up that much space."
no subject
She scoffed, rolling her eyes as she quickly braided her damp hair. "You know as well as anybody just how determined I can be. And if I want to lay all over you, I am damn well going to do it."
no subject
Even despite the matter-of-fact tone, there was clear amusement there, he definitely wasn't going to try to stop her, mostly because the trying would be entertaining for both of them, at least until sleep took over, and then it would just be comfortable.
ugh, that was supposed to be 'she finds no reason to complain'. i can english.
She liked it, too, otherwise she wouldn't be so quick to cuddle up once they were able to lay down and find some rest. Despite her joking, she did take a great deal of comfort from being able to fall asleep safely wrapped up safely in his arms. No way did she ever want to go back to what she had before.
"Alright, I'm done, let's go catch this nap while we can."
yeah, I figured
Honestly he didn't mind being used as a human heat rock, mostly because it meant that he could loop an arm around her waist and tuck his chin up over the top of her head, just keeping her close.
Once they both stopped fidgeting and settled down, of course.
no subject
Which was totally clear by the way she hardly hesitated at all to join Ben in their pile of blankets and pillows, to find a way to curl up close in a way that maximizes both comfort and contact, to sigh happily as she settled. She could prolong the inevitable by beginning a tickle fight, but that just might have to wait for another time entirely.
