[I'm assuming they're definitely on friendly terms. Maybe he's been giving her pretty stones for her collection. She could've done this sort of thing before for him too if you'd like! Also, I'm cool with actual penetration too, it's just a little difficult to find suitable images for her body type!]

[ Haruki Suzumiya rejected the average in favor of seeking the abnormal. That's something that anyone who knew him longer than several seconds would attest to, largely because there's a good chance he up and told them himself, albeit not necessarily in those terms. While these interests included many things; aliens, time travelers, sliders, and everything in between, the fact that he grew up in a costal city did tend to give one an affinity for assuming that things were out in the ocean. It wasn't like his dad was a fisherman (he was a salaryman) and so he grew up on a boat, no, you just end up stalking the pier and the beachfront when you happen to leave near those places.

And you also tend to be on the look out for sea monsters, ancient submerged aliens, or sunken societies.

He'd theory-crafted a million, million stories and made dozens and dozens of wishes for something to rise up out of it, be it some ancient alien or Atlantian emissary or honestly he would have even settled for something like a mermaid.

Well, perhaps the young man didn't expect that last one to become a reality. Sitting on the edge of some docks which are right up on water's edge due to the shift into a particularly high water level summer he's been flipping five yen coins into the ocean on a lark, as if treating it like a shrine might invoke some ancient spirit. That's the first time he met her, and since that time... well, they'd conversed more, and he'd exchanged stones that met her liking. At this point, it was nearer to the end than the beginning of summer, and while this meant in some ways he was becoming used to her as the new normal, it also meant that it was almost like a dream was coming closer to the end.

And as such, kicking his feet in the water, knowing she was somewhere below there simply because this was a time they often met, he allowed his mind to wander to more asinine questions ]

[Wakasagihime was usually quite a reclusive creature, spending most of her time deep underwater hoarding precious stones. It wasn't uncommon for her to venture to the surface, but she was usually quite careful to make sure that she wasn't seen, at least by humans.

Needless to say, she'd never expected to make a friend of one. But somehow, they'd hit it off, although it helped that he brought her more stones for her collection. The summer flew by as they got to know each other better, and she actually looked forward to his visits.

Not more than a few moments after he began kicking his feet in the water, 'Sagi surfaced just a few feet away, head and shoulders bobbing in the surf.]

Oh, hello again!

What, were you waiting for me?

[ This is perhaps not a good point to tease her for... particularly when he came here for her. But he still does, leaning back against the dock with his arms planted behind him and wiggling his toes in the water. The boy manages to sound casual, but he is glad to see her and some thoughts are dancing around in the back of his mind.

If he had any stones for her, they aren't immediately out. He's got a bag next to him, but... well, nothing is out. ]

Maybe for a little bit.

[She blushes a little, but she's not really ashamed to admit it. It's not like she has very many friends. She takes note of the bag, but makes no mention of it. While she does enjoy the gifts, she doesn't want it to look like that's the only reason she likes him!]

It's hard to believe summer is almost over, isn't it?

[ He nods, because... it's true. It's strange that summer is almost over, and that sheer fact just happens to make him feel ephemeral. He looks at her evenly, licking his lips to clear out some of the salt. And he looks pleased that she came anyway, despite the minor point of teasing. The fact she could give an earnest answer while still blushing... it was familiar. ]

Yeah, it's been a real whirlwind this whole time. It's almost like you'll turn into mist when it's over.

['Sagi wasn't looking forward to the end of summer at all, despite her relatively cheerful disposition. It meant the weather would grow colder, and she'd be forced into finding a less cold climate to stay the winter.]

Well, I'm pretty sure I've never done that before. So you have nothing to worry about.

Do any mermaids do that?

[ Back when they first met, he'd asked her dozens upon dozens of questions. He genuinely doesn't recall if he had asked this one or not, so he might as well ask it again. Leading up into the few more he had in mind. He kicks his feet a bit, motioning for her to come closer... unless she minded treading water there while he sat ]

I don't think so.

[Although to be fair, she hadn't met many others. She did try to answer as many of his questions as possible, though. It was odd what some humans had come up with. She did swim up closer at his gesturing, reaching up to grab the dock to hold herself in place.]

More questions today?

Well yeah! It's still not every day when you encounter a bonafide mermaid, you know! [ Huff ] Even if we have been talking for a while.

[ There's... a lot of things one could question about that, and his intentions in general. Still, he crosses his arms more to show a certain level of dignity and implied power than anything else. Still, on the teenager, no matter how big he was, it just made him look somewhat petulant. Largely because... he was? He was being pointlessly borderline defensive here. Still! ]

How do mermaids have babies?

Well that was abrupt ]

That's true.

[She giggled, resting her chin on the edge of the dock. However, his next question caught her completely off guard, her face turning quite a lovely shade of crimson.]

H-huh? Why would you ask something like that?!

Because you have fish lower bodies, right?! B-but then you also have breasts like that, so are you more like fish or are you marine mammals?! Actually, for that matter, are you warm or cold blood-- actually, no, no, stick to the baby thing! Like, do you lay eggs? Or produce milk?!

[ He was interested at the start of this... and he still was interested, but seeing her face and listening to his own words, he keeps rambling off all sorts of shit ]

I mean some fish don't even have sexual intercourse they just happen to have the men shoot sperm all over the eggs - actually, for that matter, are there mermen?! I've asked that before, I think, but I don't remember the answer right now! And- I mean, going back to the milk your breasts are pretty big for a human but are they proportionally big or small for a mermaid and if there aren't mermen maybe it's meant to seduce similar species?! Or maybe you reproduce asexually!

[ Shut him up ]

[So many questions. So many embarrassing questions. As he rambled on and on, Wakasagihime's face only turned redder, to the point she looked like she might just explode.]

E-eh? One question at a time! [Slow down there!]

J-just go through them in order!

[ At least she stopped him though. Even if he looked indignant now, like she was somehow being the unreasonable one now. Because that's just how he rolls, and he arches his legs up out of the water to reflect this ]

But there's so many...

[And she's clearly very flustered by them all. She's not even sure she can bring herself to answer them.]

...do I have to?

Yes.

[ . . . But then he realizes that he doesn't necessarily have a right to command her like that. she doesn't owe him anything nor does he have a specific domain over her. And as such his cheeks color a bit too, looking down at her and shifting awkwardly on the dock before finally squeezing out, ]

... You know, if you want, for any of them.

[She just has this somewhat mortified look on her face for a moment, but it turns into a sigh of relief when he continues. She really didn't want to have to answer such embarrassing things.]

W-why do you need to know?

Well... because! I mean, why wouldn't I want to know all that?

[ . . . That is clearly a satisfactory answer from a blushing teenager who is looking off away from her what are you talking about? At least he dipped his feet back in the water ]

[Why do humans have to be so strange? She doesn't go around asking all kinds of personal questions. At this point, its hard to tell who's more embarrassed by this whole thing.]

It's not normal! [At least for her.]

[ !! ]

What's abnormal about it?! The fact of the matter is that not only is curiosity a key human trait and probably a trait of all other living sentient beings, but sexual attraction is something that weighs on all intelligent species! And unintelligent ones for that matter! But it's just that humans and probably mermaids can keep everything like that in check!

[ This is apparently an intellectual high ground he has. Apparently... ]
