☽✩ the werewolf pack (au) romance meme ✩☾

There are many supernatural beings that congregate in groups for survival or protection or just for companionship, not unlike humans. Witches have covens. Vampires have nests. But none of those have connections that can compare to the bond of a werewolf pack.
You should know. You're part of one, either born a werewolf or turned. For humans, blood is thicker than water; for wolves, the pack is to the bone. Of course, with humans, romantic relationships can complicate closeness of other sorts. That's not the case with werewolf pairings, as they tend to grow out of natural pack dynamics and are viewed as just another facet of life. The only difference is that werewolves tend to treat relationships, even potential would-be-mates, with extreme seriousness.
After all, you'll fight for your pack, so you'll fight for your mate, won't you?

✩ prompts ✩
☽ Born: Your parents were werewolves. Any children you have will be wolves, too. ☾ The Turning Process: Like any transformation, the after effects of the bite are painful. Luckily ☽ With Who Turned You: You're romantically or sexually linked to your "creator," so to speak, probably because you have nowhere else to go. They seem to treasure you, though, no matter how much they hide it. ☾ Alphas: Both of you are top of the pack. ☽ Alpha and Beta: It's a classic case of the leader and the second in command: a perfect team up. ☾ Omegas: You two find solace in each other even when you're ☽ Closer Than Family: The romantic and platonic lines are blurred. You honestly can't ☾ Outside Threat: Your pack and your loved one is threatened. What won't you do? ☽ Reluctant: You don't want to be with anyone, but it's expected and they're the closest in the pack to you... ☾ All I've Ever Known: All you've ever known is the werewolf existence, the pack, and them. Of course you would never want to lose that. ☽ Can't be Together: You two should not be considering a potential pairing, either due to your status difference or because your alpha has proclaimed there will be no inter-pack mingling. ☾ Everyone Else Was Taken: You had no other option; everyone else was paired. ☽ Protector: Every pack has an instinctive protector or nurturer. You've lucked out and ended up with them. ☾ A Natural Closeness: It doesn't matter to you what you're defined as. You've always been close and you'll stay that way. ☽ Affection: Werewolves show their love in different ways that humans. Nuzzling and licking aren't considered odd at all. ☾ Fall into Step: The two of you have your pack positions and proclivities and they're the same in your relationship. ☽ Reverse: The submissive in the pack becomes a dominant in the relationship and vice versa. ☾ Two-Man Pack: The rest of your pack is gone, and you two have to stick it out. ☽ Rogue: You were once a lone wolf, but a special person brought you into the fold. Understandably, you're attached to them. ☾ Kin but Not: "Family" doesn't mean exactly the same thing in werewolf society as it does in human. There are fewer taboos between "siblings." ☽ Disciplined: You're a rule breaker, and your partner has to reel you in. ☾ Living Straight: Neither of you wants to hurt humans...yet there's always that urge. ☽ Bad Duo: Killing people and raising hell are your specialties. You're a real supernatural Bonnie and Clyde. ☾ Unrequited: Even werewolves can have feelings that aren't returned. However, it's an even more fragile scenario, given that you must still be pack after this. ☽ Got Your Back: Together, you hunt and fight. Always together. ☾ Love Outside the Pack: You've found love outside the pack, which is the ultimate sin. Everyone who isn't pack should be your enemy! The other person in this thread can be a human, vampire, etc. ☽ Life Mates: Wolves mate for life. Needless to say, this is not something you should go into lightly. ☾ Heat: The obligatory smut option. ☽ Fight for the One: Someone wants to challenge you for your mate. There's no question as to whether or not you'll fight for them - but will you kill? ☾ Leave: One of you wants to leave the pack. Will the other come along, or are ties too strong? ☽ A Brutal End: The life of a werewolf, especially those who let sentiment cloud their judgement, can be painfully brief. ☾ WILDCARD |

That man had miscalculated, and the combination of a super-soldier and a self-proclaimed tech-goddess had managed to find enough holes in their situation to break free. They'd tried to take the others with them, but most were too far gone to be trusted. The few that did soon left to try to reconnect with the lives they'd been snatched from. But she knew she couldn't go back, not like this. Not until she knew she wasn't going to hurt anyone, until it was under control.
It was a hard life, trying to stay under the radar and away from territory claimed by other packs, but at least she had Steve. She knew it was mostly that they were both in similar situations, that calling in would mean just a different cage, that kept them together. But two were better than one, and it just worked, at least for now. She'd survived the streets as a teenager, before she'd found what she'd thought was her calling, and now, she could just do it again.
"If we can make it to the Rockies, there's places where people don't really go. Hunting, fish, food like that. Away from trouble," she said, although she doubted that would really be possible. Part of her wanted to head for Univille, South Dakota and Leena's, but that would put the people she loved in danger. "Someplace where nobody will be around with the moon calls."

He was glad she liked to talk. Her voice was a relief to be able to focus in on.
"Aren't a lot of computers in the wild," he drawled it slow so she'd realize he was teasing, just a little, dry. Lifting his head from where he'd been watching her as she talked though, he scanned the road in front of them, the trees on either side. If he let himself he thought he'd be able to smell every drop of oil and diesel that had ever been spilled on the aged asphalt. "But a cabin in the woods might be a good place to go, at least for a little bit."
He hadn't given up on returning to his life, his duty and soon. There were still things he needed to do, that he needed to be available for. It chafed, being leashed away from them by the monster in his blood. So he was intent on conquering that monster because - he was pretty sure that monster was a part of who he was now. Still a kid from Brooklyn. Still a good man. Somehow.
"Didn't the store clerk say there was a bar up ahead a few more miles? If they'll let me use the phone maybe I can get something working." Not with Tony. Or with Nat. But... there was one man on their team that knew what having a monster in your blood was and Steve thought - he thought he could get ahold of him. Hoped he could. A 'biker bar'? sounded as good a place to start trying as any.

"You'd be surprised," she said, chuckling a little. "There's more power in most people's pockets than landed a man on the moon. And by landing, I mean starting with the entire launch pattern. The actual lander had less brains than a wristwatch."
Wasn't a big thing, although he had missed the actual event, stuck in the ice. Everyone knew that about Captain America, but she was getting used to him as just Steve. Just a guy she had shared one of the worst moments of her life with. She couldn't have held on as long as she had without some kind of support.
"We can try, but pay phones are pretty rare. Unless you're in a cellular dead zone, which isn't along most highways." This one wasn't in a lot of use, though. A couple trucks had passed by during the day, with them both ducking into cover rather than attract notice, but by her best guess, most of the scents of the road were old.
"You think you can keep your head down?" She didn't want him trying to defend her or anyone else at the risk of raising hackles. "Maybe I can borrow us a ride."
no subject
He thought he would have liked the way America had felt, the energy in the streets and behind people's eyes, when the moon launch had happened.
"They'll probably still have a landline." He points it out because as much as everyone seems glued to their cell phones in this day and age, he's noticed that most businesses at least, especially out this far, still have landlines they're willing to share. He frowns a little at her question though, about to protest that he's not going to be a problem before it snaps him that he's still Captain America, especially in the heartlands of America, and people are a lot less likely to miss that out here in the country than they seem to be in the city where everyone's taught themselves to look away and not notice. He huffs a sound and runs a hand over his jaw, still getting used to the beard that started growing while he was in captivity. In the city it was amazing what a baseball hat and sunglasses could let him hide. Out here? Maybe the beard and hat would be enough. Maybe not but a few handshakes and pictures shouldn't do too much damage. They'd be long gone before anyone that mattered could track them to that spot. If they are recognized though - it makes borrowing a bike much more difficult. He's aware his reputation needs some upkeep.
"While I'm not opposed to - borrowing a ride, I'd rather not go that route if we're recognized." A frown and a glance at the sky. He doesn't like doing it but - "I'll go wolf." He'd got some control while he's in that form. It's thin and he doesn't like how slippery it is but - "But the sooner that call gets made the better. If I give you the number and the phrase to leave on the answering machine, think you can do that before you lift the bike or will that be too much attention?"
no subject
She glanced at him, at the beard, and the more furtive way he'd taken to moving in their time together. It was hard to take in, because he wasn't the confidant soldier most of the time lately. Claudia didn't know how much of that had been putting on a good front, because he honestly was a good guy, through and through. The suggestion she handle it, though, that probably wouldn't be a good thing, either.
"I'm not saying you're recognizable, but you have this...way. You see something you don't like, especially when it involves someone getting picked on or a lady seeming to be taken advantage of, and you're not the most rational guy about it. On the other hand, I know if I had you call my boss to pass a message, when they followed through, you'd be as much a target as anyone chasing us," she admitted. It wouldn't be good if they just acquired another set of people out to cage one or both of them. "And you can't be Captain America in there, because a selfie has GPS location data. A two-hundred plus wolf is going to be just as noticeable, by the by."
She wanted to call in, to get help, but...there were a lot of reasons to lay low, too. Claudia also knew that if Steve or she ended up in a brawl, the other would join in, and sweeping the floor with an entire biker bar full of patrons would draw attention as quickly as a Cap sighting. It'd be better if it were another truck stop, or even better, one of those places that had the ginormous steaks that are free if you finish them in a certain amount of time.
It took more effort than she wanted to admit not to run her own fingertips along the line of his beard, to lean in and take comfort in the fact that she had such a strong guy with her, helping her. Stupid caveman instincts, really, but the wolf in her liked it, too. The number of times they'd ended up curled together in that form for warmth and protection while they slept was something she'd really lost count of, and she wished it were more sometimes.
"We should both go in. You make the call, I can...mingle a little. If I play it right, nobody's going to be looking at my face or yours." A little shifting around of clothing would see to that. Breasts were breasts, and men were men. As long as Steve didn't get all protective or growly.

Wildcarding it.
Loaned to another pack as sort of an exchange system since he had been in the process of petitioning to leave anyway given the volatile nature of the city itself and the fact he was looking for a safer place for his younger brother.
In return their pack received some new blood, something sorely needed given the nature of their altercation with the Guerrera and the vampires. Settling in though took more time than he would have liked, not to mention the whole issue of working his way up through the pack structure.
But it was for his brother.
And it didn't hurt the Alcide kind of reminded him of Jack in ways he was trying not to think about.

Nuzzling the human, then licking him across the face, Yukimura ultimately shifted to his human shape to shake the other awake. The morning air were cold against his bare skin now that he did not have any fur to protect him. Well a bit of cold would not kill him.]
Henry, up with you. Time to hunt for breakfast.
no subject
Henry was always slow to wake in the morning and took a little time to get the blood pumping, so they just mumbled a little when Yukimura licked their face.]
Mmph, 'm up...
[Rolling over, Henry stuck an arm out from the sleeping bag to wipe at their face. The fresh, cold air of morning usually worked pretty well at waking them up. Since they were a human, they couldn't shift to a more fuzzy form, and had to make do with clothes. After getting up fully, if still sleepy, Henry yawns.]
What were you thinking for?
no subject
Watching the human pull himself awake always looked so amusing and Yukimura chuckled softly.]
I can smell deer in the air and the wind are in our favour so I were thinking that would be good.
[Unconsciously Yukimura licked his mouth. Deer sounded good and it had been a while since they had any. They could be fast so they had to be smart about it. It should be an interesting morning hunt.]
no subject
Oooh venison, huh? Sure be able to get our fill with that!
[And Henry was skilled at smoking and drying meat for later consumption, something wolves rarely bothered with.]
So what do you think, a track 'n' trek?
[But they both shared persistence hunting as a species. Sometimes the pack employed stealth when necessary but otherwise just outlasted their prey before striking.]
no subject
Track, observe, attack.
[They didn't needed a more complex plan. They found their prey and they waited for a good moment to attack. Simple.
A cold gust of wind blew by and Yukimura shivered. It wasn't really time yet to be good weather to be furless and he shifted back to his much warmer wolf shape. Even as a wolf his fur held a blue tone to it like his hair did when in human shape.]
Get ready. We will move out soon.
no subject
Sounds good!
[Being part of a wolf pack, Henry kept things light; their sleeping bag, some clothes, a couple books, tools. With the size of their territory, Henry couldn't keep more on them than what they could carry. They did keep caches of more specialized gear in places, bound up in tarps, like their winter clothes, but otherwise their possessions went on their back.
For the morning hunt Henry only kept their knife out, laying it on the ground as they finished dressing. Seeing a hole in a sock, they shifting their gear so the sewing kit was near the top. They'd fix it after eating.]

The bite had been painless until he realized it had happened. An unconscious act resulting from weeks of racing thoughts about death and immortality. He had begged Alec to stay and so Alec had stayed. And now he couldn't get it out of his that one day he would grow old and die and leave Alec and Simon. The three of them were closer now than ever before, but he also the beating of time in his chest.
Maybe he had been crazy to think such stupid things before. It was too late now. He would either change or die. Become a wolf or leave Alec forever.
Jace woke with his heart racing, eyes wide and sweat making his hair stick to his neck and face. He couldn't remember much, mostly excruciating pain and then emotions so strong they made him feel dizzy still. It was like that with the first full moon, Luke had warned him, but he still dreamed about it. Part of the dream as a human, the other as a wolf.
"Alec?"
no subject
Simon had become part of that decision. Not only because he had changed Alec but because of the feelings that had devloped between them. Those feelings should have warned him that Jace would do something crazy. He always leaped into danger without considering consequences if he thought his actions would help the ones he loved. Somehow, Jace had thought that becoming a Downworlder would help them both.
Alec had raged over it during the days that led up to the full moon. Then he'd refused to leave Jace's side, needing every moment with his lover in case the worst happened. After so much panic and terror, the transformation had almost been anticlimactic. There'd been pain and fear and then Jace had recognized him. After that Jace-wolf had acted like human-Jace except with more slobber and tail wagging.
Alec kept him company throughout the night until Jace fell into an exhausted sleep. He curled up with his boyfriend, arm draped over his middle, muzzily nuzzling Jace's neck occasionally. "Mmm? Sleep. 'S still early."
no subject
He hadn't even noticed he'd moved, so caught up in the smell and feel of his lover.
My lover.
Jace growled low in his throat and nuzzled his lips and nose into all the sensitive spaces he loved. This was Alec. Only stronger. More intense. All of his emotions for Alec turning to liquid heat in his veins.
"Alec."
no subject
Letting out a sigh, he caught the faint scent that lingered in Jace's hair. He was human but there was still a trace of the wolf lingering on him. Alec assumed it would fade since he rarely noticed Luke having that same wildness around him.
Biting his lip, he tried not to moan when he heard Jace's growl. It should have set off some instinct to be wary but instead it made need shiver along his spine. Gasping when Jace started nuzzling his neck, he tangled his hand in soft, blond hair. "Jace..." For a moment he couldn't find any words as he tipped his head back to let his lover tease his neck. Closing his eyes, he forced himself to focus on his boyfriend instead of how much he wanted Jace. "You're all here now?"
no subject
He was so caught up in the overwhelming wave of emotion that seemed to pass through him, causing goosebumps to spring up over his skin, he barely registered Alec's question.
"Here." And he nibbled another spot along Alec's neck, slowly moving down to his shoulder.
no subject
Electricity ran along his nerves as Jace marked his neck. Arching and gasping, he tugged at Jace's hair, urging him to bite him again. He wrapped an arm around his lover's waist, pulling him closer so he could rock his hips against Jace's.
"Good. Wanted to be sure you were back." Now that Jace had answered, he knew Jace was there in the ways that mattered. The wolf was still there, a wildness clinging to Jace's skin that Alec wanted to taste before it faded completely.
no subject
There was a primal desire burning him from the inside out, but the hottest pint was his chest. His heart pounding hard with emotions for Alec. Love that ran deep and true and made him ache from head to toe and had him skirting the edge of change he didn't want. Not now. Not like this. He wanted Alec, not to be running through the forest on full instinct.
"I need you. I want you." He gasped out, trying to manage some sort of control while he craved more taste, more scent, more friction.
no subject
He could hear the way Jace's heart raced. Knew that if he pressed his lips to his pulse he could feel the rush of blood just beneath the skin. His mouth ached for a moment and he thought he'd end up with fangs before he managed to regain his control. Jace wouldn't mind being bitten but that wasn't what Alec wanted now. He wanted to kiss and touch and taste without worrying that he might accidentally cut his boyfriend with the points of his fangs.
Letting out a low whimper at that bite, almost wished that Jace had bit him harder, hard enough that it'd leave a mark. He couldn't stay still, moving against Jace while tracing the patterns he'd memorized years ago. Heat spilled along his skin, aching in his chest as he bucked beneath his lover.
It had to be an illusion. Alec knew that he couldn't be warm but he felt like he was feverish. It had to be emotion making him feel like every place they touched was like sunlight had once felt against his skin. Love was what was causing his chest to ache like he needed to catch his breath and his fangs to make an appearance.
Looking up at his lover, Alec panted softly, trying to see if Jace really was aware of his surroundings. Even if Jace said he was with him, Alec knew the wolf was close to the surface. He could feel it thrumming along Jace's skin, catch the hint of night shrouded forests in his scent. "I need you too." Grinning he caught Jace by the hips and rolled him over, nuzzling his neck before pulling away to meet his gaze. "What do you want, Jace?"
no subject
And as he said the word he wrapped his legs around Alec and pulled him into a kiss. "Like this." Biting his bottom lip. "You." Feeling the tidal wave threatening to crash over and pull him under ebb a little. He still felt feverish, liquid love and lust mixed together and rushing through his veins, but the fear he would change was soothed by Alec. "I need you, Alec."
And then the next moment he found himself pressing teeth and lips and nose into Alec's neck again, breathing him in with a low growl, nipping and tasting his lover.
