Even though Malcolm existed as part of the world of espionage, he still had to remind himself that no news was not necessarily bad news. That he and Charles were from different organizations didn't make it easier. Information between MI6 and Kingsman wasn't always traded openly.
Keeping busy made the time easier to bear. He had his projects at work and a few side things he was working on. It was going to bed in the evening (or the morning depending on how long he had been in the lab) that he allowed himself time to worry.
He was awake and working on his laptop on the sofa in the living room when he heard the key turn in the door. Mal set the laptop aside and smiled when the door finally opened. "Welcome home."

[Been meaning to try and do a thing with these two! They could have met perhaps in the 500s AD, and maybe again in England near the end of the mid-1300s plague epidemic after he's fled France due to having supposedly died from it?]
