Especially if the latter has the former wrapped around their finger, knowingly or otherwise. To avoid tl;dr - suddenly, a wild bae approaches! It had been a helluva night. Jace hadn't meant to fall into the vampire nest, but the roof had suddenly let go under his feet. His body felt like one giant bruise. But, since he was on his own solo mission, Jace couldn't worry about his injuries in the eyes of The Clave. He had responsibilities and one of those was sparring with Alec.

At eight in the morning.

That very morning.

Dressed in two long-sleeved shirts and cargo pants, Jace tried to hide his limp as he made it to the dojo area. He glanced angrily around, which got a lot of the auxiliary eyes off him. They'd never seen battle, so they didn't know what was going on with him.

Still, Alec would know, but Jace didn't want him to. Their relationship was already strained and he just didn't want more questions. As Alec came into the area, Jace snorted, putting on a hard face.

"Nice of you to show up."

Simon was waiting for Alec in his room. Prepared for an epic battle and dressed in the proper gear. He'd made sure to turn off the lights, turn on the equipment, and wait as patiently as any Vampire who was waiting for their target.

It had started with a conversation about swords and sword fighting. It had ended with Alec asking questions and Simon grinning happily. He was always happy to share his interests with Alec. Alec didn't laugh at him, even if he did tease him a little. It was nice teasing. Not like Jace, who was also nice, but sometimes his head was a little too big and he couldn't take the Force seriously enough to have a proper conversation.

Alec wasn't a big grumpy cat like everyone claimed he was. He would enjoy the surprise lightsaber attack. At least, Simon hoped he would. He'd paid enough for them and the voice altering helmet.
