It happens to everyone - sometimes, you have nights where you just can't fall asleep, no matter what you do. It could be for a number of reasons, or no reason at all. And this is what's happened now: you've been laying in bed for what feels like hours, just tossing and turning, and nothing seems to help. So what's left to do? Get out of bed and go wake someone else up, of course. If you're not getting any sleep, then why should they? i n s t r u c t i o n s • Post with your character (note the name and fandom in the subject). • Other people reply to you by generating a number from 1 to 10. • Have fun! o p t i o n s 01 • FEAR. Maybe you're hearing strange, indeterminable noises; maybe there's a severe storm happening outside; maybe you watched a scary movie before bed? Whatever the reason, you're terrified and it's keeping you awake. You just want to wake someone else up so they can protect you from the monster in your closet. 02 • HUNGER. Your stomach is growling and it just won't stop. Or perhaps your throat is so dry you could cough up a tumbleweed? Well, you've gone to the kitchen to remedy this and hey, that was a pan that just dropped on the floor. It was loud enough to wake the dead! Oops. 03 • PAIN. Your body is completely worn out, be it from exercise, battle, sickness, or what have you. Either way you're in enough pain to keep you from sleeping, so maybe someone else has a home remedy or something, or can at least help you take your mind off of it. 04 • SOLITUDE. For some reason, your bed just feels so empty at the moment. You're feeling terribly lonely and really just want someone to keep you company for a while. Maybe it'd be easier to fall asleep if you're with them... 05 • DISCOMFORT. Your room is an oven. Either that or a freezer. Or maybe this bed is just really uncomfortable? Who knows why you can't get to sleep, it feels like it could be anything. Why even bother trying? Maybe someone else can preoccupy you until you feel tired enough to ignore your discomfort. 06 • PENSIVE. Something's on your mind, and no matter how hard you try to focus elsewhere, it's just not going to work. Your body may be tired, but your mind is incredibly busy and it's virtually impossible to get to sleep. Surely, talking it out with someone else will help? 07 • SADNESS. Something terrible has happened that day, perhaps; or you could just be severely depressed. Either way you're trying your hardest not to cry yourself to sleep, and it's not working at all. Better find a way to get it out of your system somehow; you need a shoulder to cry on. 08 • ANGER. You are just... fuming. Who knows why - that annoying dog is barking again, or maybe the people next door are getting busy and keeping you awake. Whatever the reason for your ire is, you'd better put an end to it so you can get some damn rest already! Go wake up a friend so you can complain to them. 09 • RESTLESS. You're far too energetic to sleep right now. Maybe you're just trying to do so out of necessity - you have to be up early tomorrow! But you just don't think you'll be able to fall asleep for a while now, so why waste the time trying to sleep when you could be doing something else? Namely bothering someone else - you're totally jealous because they're getting more sleep than you. 10 • WILDCARD. Choose one of the options above, or make up your own scenario.

[Walker has never been the most stable of sleepers. He's come to sleep well when he's apart from other humans, but in their presence it's still hard for him to settle. The world is a loud place, and humans are easily the noisiest.

He gets up quietly and walks, making a circle around the camp. Absently, he raises his left arm to itch his right, only remembering when he scrapes against limp cloth that his right arm isn't actually there anymore. He stops pacing, shaking his head at himself. These days he usually recognizes the phantom sensations as what they are without a second thought. He must need sleep more than he'd realized.]

[She slips in the window like smoke, silent, bringing a hint of the city air with her, ozone, rain sizzling off neon signs, concrete and rooftop tar. Little drops of liquid hit the carpet, hints of the intermittent storm outside that can't decide if its coming or going and she gives a little shake that sends more drops falling, small, quick, tight.

Miho haunts the building Steve's currently staying in. She haunts the whole city block and several more beyond it. Not a ghost, more an alley cat or a familiar landmark only residents pay attention to. It's what she does, who she is.

And tonight she has something that, inexplicably, smells like fresh baked bread in a paper bag, that she leaves on the kitchen table. She's adopted Steve, in the way a stray cat adopts someone, for as long as he moved in the small circle of city she considers her own, and its not the first time she's left something in the dark or on his doorstep or the windowsill. She doesn't stay often

but tonight she gets the kettle out of the bottom cabinet and fills it up with water in the dark.

[On the Milano, there was always at least one or two Guardians awake and alert (as a security measure). Right now, as far as Drax the Destroyer was aware, only he stayed up at this hour. This suited him and his internal systems fine, since an unusual, but very efficient, biology like his rarely demanded sustenance or bedrest.

As Drax often did, when only he remained awake on the craft, the Destroyer occupied his time by cleaning the place. Quill's ship appeared to possess some manner of artificial gravity generator and, thus, unlike in zero-gravity environs, various surfaces developed bacterial colonies and sported the most unappealing scents. For one like Drax, who hunted at a very early age and, thus, possessed an excellent sense of smell, this was unacceptable.

[He can adapt to anything, given half a yoctosecond, but he does not like change unless it is affected or brought about by he and Wanda. The Accords - Ross' deliverance of them - is an attempt to hurt her. It is only the fact she holds his hand under the table that keeps him still. Otherwise, he thinks, Ross would have suffered worse than a second heart attack.

He reads the paperwork in less than fifteen seconds, already certain. He will not sign. Wanda, looking at him, recognizes his resolve.

It leads to a fight. He is unafraid of fighting. Afterwards, prison. He is also unafraid of that, though far from fond. He and his sister are collared like beasts, he seethes in his cell until the captain returns for them.

Wakanda is pleasant. Comfortable. There is space to run. The king tells him there are several areas offlimits, Pietro shrugs. He is inclined to listen, but not necessarily to obey.

Midnight. Hours pass slower in the night. He reads all the books in the Wakandan libraries that are open to the public. Runs. Watches television on fast-forward, eyes tracking lip movements to discern dialogue. Barnes is in the communal kitchen of the apartments set aside for the rogue Avengers, and Pietro is at the fridge - it opens and closes - and then at the far end of the island with a carton of juice.]

Bucky hadn't been under long in Wakanda, they decided the best course of action was therapy, talking things out and doing a lot of scans of his brain... bringing in not only doctors but healers as well. It worked, but as a safe guard T'Challa brought in a some bald guy named Charles who ran a special school in upstate New York to dig through his brain, and man was that an experience he never wants again.

He gets blamed for killing the guys father and the man somehow found it in his heart to forgive him... he learned a lot while there but it was time to go home.

To stand trial for the things he had done while under the control of the RedRoom, the KGB, and later Hydra.

He was whole heartedly surprised when he was found innocent... he didn't think he was innocent.

Which is why at 3am instead of being asleep, he's sitting in the window box looking at the unpacked boxes scattered around the living room of a new Brooklyn apartment, that two of their old ones could have fit in, hell maybe three... wondering if he deserves any of this.

He sees them all every time he closes his eyes... mostly Howard and Maria, and that makes sleeping hard to say the lest.
