How To:

Ah, 「 Silly Homare, getting so caught up in all the gender issues that he's failed to notice that something's bothering his precious kohai. He smiles, mentally kicking himself for being so inconsiderate. 」 That's because Yahisa…kun is special. 「 Damn, why does he keep saying the stupidest— 」

Special? No I'm not.... [ But it's a mild kind of protest, more of confusion than denial. Is he still blushing because he's embarrassed, or secretly pleased? ]

「 He can't even stop himself anymore. It might be the alcohol or something in the air, but either way, his cheeks are burning up with every remark Yahisa makes and Homare can't even find it in himself to stop running his tongue: 」

Of course you are. Yahisa-kun's always been so kind and helpful and… 「 oh dear stars is he laughing? 」 …cute.

[ Oh. Well, he's glad someone's noticed the kind and helpful part... but he averts his eyes uncertainly at the third bit and the laughter that accompanies it, focusing on the buffet and picking up a cookie for himself. ] Like a little brother. [ As usual.... ]

That's right. 「 Not really. 」 But anyone would be lucky to have Yahisa-kun… 「 E–Even if he's no longer a she… 」

[ So that was it after all. Just the same old 'little brother effect'. He shouldn't be at all surprised... and definitely shouldn't feel that odd sense of disappointment again. What's wrong with him?

So he looks up from his cookie, forcing his usual bright smile. ] Then that makes me even more lucky to have so many big brothers!

That's right, I'll… 「 Oh…well of course Yahisa would only think of him as a brother. He's…everyone's big brother, isn't he? Never anything more than that, even and—

Oh big brother senses are tingling again. 」 Yahisa-kun?

[ Stupid big brother senses. As he nibbles at his cookie, Tsukirou wonders -- in an abstract sort of fashion that doesn't fully grasp the significance of what he's wondering -- if he'll ever get a kiss that wasn't for the sake of cookie crumbs. ] Yes, Captain?

No? You were just getting the crumbs, after all.... [ he murmurs with his new cookie at his lips, making more of said crumbs. And wondering if maybe... Kanakubo-sempai might be getting messy lips from his cookie, too.

...as if that makes him feel any better at all. Stupid cookie crumb kisses. ]

It's not because of that… 「 Might as well let it all out, even. Not like Yahisa has a chance considering how neat and delicate he is when it comes to, well, eating a cookie. 」

If the captain is his big brother... well isn't it normal for little brothers to confide in their oniisans about things like wondering about being kissed for real someday? But he's tired of big brothers... and wouldn't that be weird to say? ] Because of what, then?

「 Oh, well, you're not alone in that, but he tries not to think about that blush. It's time to come clean and…and what? He's not going to confess, is he?

…Is he? 」 D–Don't you kiss the ones you like…?

Um... I guess with... some kinds of kisses, yes. [ Compared to, you know, cookie crumb kisses or kisses for family. Ugh, why does Homare have to keep going on about it? It wasn't a big deal, but now Tsukirou's getting all kinds of confused.... ] I wouldn't know... nobody's ever liked me that way.

That's not true. There are plenty of— 「 stopping himself at "girls" 」 —people who would. 「 And who do, but Yahisa might not agree with having a guy… 」

I don't think so. [ His tone is mild as he looks down at his cookie, but he doesn't realize he's wearing a bit of a frown that could be... what? Frustrated? Disappointed? ] Someone would have said something by now if he did, right?

[ Not that Tsukirou has a clue. He's from a BL AU so he's inclined towards guys in a way he's only half-aware of, but he's still Tsukiko's parallel: all focused inward, eyes averted embarrassedly even though he keeps talking for whatever reason, oblivious to what's being hinted at outwardly. ]

I'm everybody's little brother. I'd have to find someone who didn't look at me that way, first.

Not to me. 「 And he can't even believe what he's vaguely admitting to. 」 I did say, Yahisa-kun is special… 「 And so much more…can he piece together the kiss and the compliments already… 」

[ Sorry, Homare. This is male!Tsukiko. You passed off the kiss as going after the cookie, and agreed to "like a brother" the first time Tsukirou questioned being called cute and special.

So even though his perceptions are incorrect and he's still frustrated by them, it's going to take a bit more than that to shake him of them. Homare's getting a slightly confused look from the younger boy, now, at what seems to him to be a contradictory statement. ]

I know. Like a little brother. I'm very grateful Captain thinks so well of me, too.

「 FINE he'll get all out flirtatious now. Just…don't mind him casually sidling closer… 」 Maybe it's more than that?

[ He doesn't mind. He doesn't even think anything of it. It just means he's got to tilt his head back that little bit more to look up at Homare in his perplexity, cookie in hand hovering near his mouth yet pretty much forgotten. ]

More? [ What's more than a little brother? Uh, grasping at straws, here... ] ...a brother the same age?

Maybe a boyfriend? 「 There, he finally said it, though it comes out weak and he's in the middle of pulling the younger boy close as he confesses to that. 」

[ And there goes Tsukirou, dropping his cookie yet again in surprise at the sudden embrace (not that he couldn't have seen it coming with Homare's slow approach, if only he were a little less oblivious to such things) and the words that go with it.

His nose inches from Homare's vest, his hands brace on the senior's chest in a manner that could easily turn into a shove, but does not. His eyes are wide and for a moment or three he's frozen, his brain rushing through a rewind and reevaluation. Hey, he's slow, but he's not stupid.

He looks up at Homare from under startled brows, without actually lifting his head. ] Then all that, it... wasn't really about cookies?!

Yes? 「 Well he's not quite sure why he keeps hitting on the male version of his one true love for some reason but hey, gender really doesn't matter, does it?

Actually he still has to think about that, but there's no reason why he can't be sweet on he—him for now. 」 I didn't tease you too much, did I?
