[It's a dream come true. Many of them, actually. One right after another in rapid succession. Or not so rapid as the case may be. It had taken almost two years to finally get all the trappings and organization together for a real wedding. Yukio had insisted it be perfect, or close to it, despite Minako's protests that elopement was fine after all the drama of needing to reschedule. In the end, she appreciated his stubbornness, and the ceremony and reception had been beautiful, and full of love.

Being busy didn't stop after that, though, to no surprise. The new, huge surge of romance and affection from Yukio was certainly a pleasant diversion, though. Minako had thought she'd seen the greatest of it, but boy was she wrong. He was daydreaming more than she'd ever seen, staring right in her direction. She had to constantly get him back on track. The Paladin can't stop his duties for being twitterpated now, can he?

Their coworkers have been teasing, but in a supportive way. They're all glad to see him happy, it seems. Minako for her part feels a constant glow. A contentment she can't put words to. She's known for so long that she'd found a family here, but it's finally becoming real in an important sense. Irreversible. This is her family now.

That word follows her around like the train of her wedding dress, making her smile a big dopey smile at random times to remember it. A husband, a brother-in-law. A family.

That's exactly the thought that fills her mind as Mephisto does his bipolar thing and sweeps them away for two free weeks off work for a honeymoon they never had time to plan because of his tasks. She won't question it, and she made a big deal of leaving all mode of contact behind. He can't go back on this one if she doesn't have her phone! So there!

Another cinch tightens in her mind to make this all feel real as they board the plane and settle into their seats. He's her's, and he's the start of the family she's always wanted in her long loneliness. He broke her loneliness first, and now he's made it so she'll never be lonely again. A surge of affection rises in her and she presses close into his side, threading their fingers together as their flight departs.

Now they're finally away from it all, for at least a little while, with only each other. When was the last time they were able to be alone, really alone, for any length of time? Too long. So long that when they settle into their little rented apartment (wtf Mephisto) they fall immediately into bed for sleep. The sweet uninterrupted sleep of two lovers with no spare time. Indulgent sleep where they can take their time, rolling around, tangling limbs, and peppering small kisses in the moments they awaken in the night.

For once, Minako awakens first in the morning, yawning and reaching for her bag near the bed for her hairbrush... and her birth control. She drops the brush into her lap, scrutinizing the little plastic circle. It's about time for it, considering the time difference from home. She turns it over in her hands, thinking. It's been so long, but only a few days off of it would...
